@@AHLive215 Guys, sometimes you need to have the icon photo on the same drive you want to change the icon to. For example, if you want to change the E Driver you need to put the icon photo in the E Driver
Awesome Video ! Simple and short, straight to the point, no trying to add time for more adds, and it works ! I wish Windows would just let us change this from the properties though ^^
If you are using external and need to show on other pc too. then use this method. Create a file: Create a new text file on the root directory of your external HDD and name it "autorun.inf". Edit the file: Open the file with a text editor and paste the following: [autorun] icon=your_icon_name.ico label=Your Drive Label Replace "your_icon_name.ico" with the name of your icon file (which should also be in the root directory) and "Your Drive Label" with the desired name for your drive. after this make sure to eject and insert again to show the icon.
An alternate way of setting a storage device's icon, instead of using the registry is to copy the ico file to the root of the drive's directory, add a new text file named "Autorun.inf" and then edit that file and add the following... [autorun] icon=.\MyDriveIcon.ico Then save the file and restart Windows/explorer. I find this method better as when I do a fresh re-install of the OS, the hard drive/storage device already has the files to set the new drive icon, we don't have to mess around with the registry and if we decide to change the drive letter using, for example, disk management, we don't have to modify the registry to reflect the changes. I hope someone finds this useful :)
is it normal that my new 5tb seagate external harddrive came with an icon and then changed after i filled it with stuff. or did they switch mine for an used one?

Didn't work at all. Even after a restart.
You need to download "ico" format icon.
not working
just shows blank image
all good now thx
Make sure you don’t move or delete the images you used. It needs the path to be identical to what you enter.
👍
Hi is there a way to undo this
Just delete the folder you made with the drive letter.
Might just need to close and reopen your folder to see the change update :)
@@MaxsTech Hi it worked thanks
