Currently in my collection 37 different OTF's both single action and dual action. I then have 19 other "bad" knives including mostly out-the-side, a few gravity, and one balisong knives. I like them for sure. I know many people don't care about them, but they do come in handy from time to time. Would I want it as my sole survival knife, no, a fixed blade won't misfire and can be beating on way more. Not to say that modern USA made OTF's aren't solidly built for sure. My most common OTF are the Scarab II's since the "gen 1 or 2 days" as there wasn't really any gen in the Scarab II's until Gen 3 came along generically speaking. I have many in both single and dual edge, both in production and custom knives. I like larger knives so they work well. I also have a number of Combat Troodon's both older and newer generations, as well as the newer Hera II's which are just as large as both the Scarab II and Combat Troodon's. 😁🍺 Also you might like the 1180 series in the Scarab II which has the DE-S blade, its a Dual Edge Drop Point blade. They use to only be in customs, but are now in production Scarab IIs. 👍
Yea the law is much better here in Texas, blade length limit generically speaking, of greater than 5.5" are "restricted" from certain areas, but that is inclusive of all knives, not just autos. For example can't have knives with blades longer than 5.5" in schools, courthouse, churches, polling locations etc. Otherwise you are good. My kids could carry auto knives in school without any issues if blades are under 5.5" there is no distinction between auto and folders for example both are just referred to as a "knife". So don't take the cold steel mayhem into class, but you are good with your Scarab II, no problem. 😁🤷♂
Do you know than Microtech just present a new Ultratech or Combat troodon with no blade play. More expensive of course ..! I think after the work quality of the Hawks company, they have to do something for fix this problem. ^^
Only the Ultratech, Luminary, and Atreus, are ZBT at this point. They haven't release a CT with this system yet. Based on the fact that the Luminary and Atreus are limited release models with the later being over $2K, I am not sure how far they will roll out this tech to the other lines. I know there have been some pretty wide spread issues with some of the ZBT Ultratechs, but again this being new production knife there are going to be some kinks to work out when mass producing to such tight tolerances. Haven't had any issues with mine, but many others have had. 🤠👍
OTF is cooler, sexier, arguably safer, can be double edged, and John Wick prefers one. I carry a double edged otf but always have a little utility blade to go with it. It mostly stays with me for emergency type situations, and because it's cool lol
The thing is otf or automatics, are made for kill. For attack. Okay, it's a knife then you can do everthing you can do with a knife. But is purpuse is to kill ..! ... But i love them and i think they are very secure, and pratic. And they are very good quality in general ..! Now, in France, it's forbiden to carry any knives. Anywhere. Even if it les for your work. Or for the hunters or fishers. Because of the many attentats, attacks. A shame !! ^^

Trying to get into the mind of US politicians…I think we’re all picking up what your laying down.

@@griff7749 The cool factor is indeed a plus!
What’s faster? A fixed blade. No such thing as a “tactical” folder or the like. Period. Unless you are in a movie.
@@ulbushcrafting6592 I agree 100%

😂. Only in the movies. The Only “tactical” blade is a fixed blade.
