The waters that are rising and putting parts of islands and lands under water, and gives that a "biblical" standpoint, like the water (the fires, pollution, world) will get so high and uncontrollable that even God will look towards her enemy for help. From what I've gathered, the songs are written with the encouragement for the audience to interpret, from watching Billie Eilish in interviews. She has her meaning, but the audience can accept a unique meaning. I love it. The artist saying her art is up to audience interpretation.
The way I've come to understand the part of "she'd want the devil on her team" is that she's speaking about an hypothetical girl during the dawn of the final days. Water starts rising, maybe as part of a biblical flood or as a reference to global warming causing the end of the world, but God would not accept her into heaven as it has enemies as well (those being the non-believers). Thus, she will want the devil as it will be the one that will offer her salvation. This would tie up with the idea of being in heaven unable to invite anyone as a take on the idea of God's selective salvation.

Although it may not seem like it at first, billie plays characters in her music videos. She plays off of fears of her own and enemies in her past. This video is just playing devil's advocate for all disbelievers of climate change now that the answer has become apparent due to environmental destruction. You can't hide from the fact that earth literally did this to itself. Like we are our worst enemy and the punishment for a society of self sabotaging creatures is death. When she talks about the water rising, she is talking about how if the temperature goes up 1 °C in the next 10 years the ocean is suppose to claim most of Florida, Mississippi; and Louisiana. Then Venice, Italy is going to be underwater too; which is currently happening if you keep up with the news. She also talks about the fires in California; which fires are happening everywhere now, like in Australia and the Amazon Rain Forest. To me the song talks about how God might be turning his back to humanity because I think in the bible somewhere he talks about taking care of the planet.

I’ve heard of Billie before, but this is the first song I’ve actually listened to. I think, as the pastor said in the video, there are a lot of concepts strung together, global warming, segregation, good and evil, etc. I think the true meaning of this song is simply to get viewers to tear down their own psychological walls and look at different viewpoints on life as a whole. The idea that, just because you believe in something different, doesn’t mean your belief is wrong. That’s just what it means to be human, that you can disagree with your friends and neighbors and that’s ok, that’s the whole concept of free will, the right to make your own choice without someone making you feel like you’ve done something wrong for following your own path.

In a few words: The world and the people are totally fucked up, system, nature, peoples hearts, show biz. etc. (She also mentioned the fires but also personal struggles etc.) And whatever the "good" ones try to save, the world is so corrupted that nothing can't be really saved anymore. And the "good" ones have became the "weak" ones. So maybe we all go to the "evil" side to survive and "all the good girls go to hell" eventually.
One way I interpreted bury a friend and all the good girls go to hell was through the lenses of her entering the music industry and realm of celebrity status. She has to bury herself to become the pop idol people want her to be. She loses part of her humanity and shakes the devils hand in the exchange. The beginning of all the good girls go to hell mentions the pearly white gates being more of a picket fence, hinting at the idea that wealth and completion of the American Dream can create a form of heaven on earth. She mentions being unable to bring your friends, alluding to the loneliness at the top. All of this of course isn’t truly heaven because she had to lose her humanity and sign deals with men in suits to get there.

I think with the lines "Once the waters start to rise, and heaven's out of sight, she'll want the devil on her team", she is referring to the pollution, fires and damage to the earth once more. The waters that are rising and putting parts of islands and lands under water, and gives that a "biblical" standpoint, like the water (the fires, pollution, world) will get so high and uncontrollable that even God will look towards her enemy for help. People will be looking for anyone to help fix something they themselves have damaged, and I think the song is speaking on that, like why are we even trying anymore if no one is helping now

The way I've come to understand the part of "she'd want the devil on her team" is that she's speaking about an hypothetical girl during the dawn of the final days. Water starts rising, maybe as part of a biblical flood or as a reference to global warming causing the end of the world, but God would not accept her into heaven as it has enemies as well (those being the non-believers). Thus, she will want the devil as it will be the one that will offer her salvation. This would tie up with the idea of being in heaven unable to invite anyone as a take on the idea of God's selective salvation.
"She'd want the devil on her team" is god. God in this video is female, so she's talking about god. Basically, this is about climate change and how we are killing our self's. And as for the angel part, she was sent down to help mankind but realized they weren't worth saving as they would just keep doing what they are doing. Literally the whole video is about climate change and how it's all our faults. She also talks about how we beg our world leaders to change, but they wont. And when the time comes they will be begging for our help, but it will already be to late for us all. For videos like this, you really need to read between the lines and not be fixated on the hooks and video.

When she talks about the water rising, she is talking about how if the temperature goes up 1 °C in the next 10 years the ocean is suppose to claim most of Florida, Mississippi; and Louisiana. Then Venice, Italy is going to be underwater too; which is currently happening if you keep up with the news. She also talks about the fires in California; which fires are happening everywhere now, like in Australia and the Amazon Rain Forest.
To me the song talks about how God might be turning his back to humanity because I think in the bible somewhere he talks about taking care of the planet.

I’ve heard of Billie before, but this is the first song I’ve actually listened to. I think, as the pastor said in the video, there are a lot of concepts strung together, global warming, segregation, good and evil, etc. I think the true meaning of this song is simply to get viewers to tear down their own psychological walls and look at different viewpoints on life as a whole. The idea that, just because you believe in something different, doesn’t mean your belief is wrong. That’s just what it means to be human, that you can disagree with your friends and neighbors and that’s ok, that’s the whole concept of free will, the right to make your own choice without someone making you feel like you’ve done something wrong for following your own path.

And the "good" ones have became the "weak" ones. So maybe we all go to the "evil" side to survive and "all the good girls go to hell" eventually.

One way I interpreted bury a friend and all the good girls go to hell was through the lenses of her entering the music industry and realm of celebrity status. She has to bury herself to become the pop idol people want her to be. She loses part of her humanity and shakes the devils hand in the exchange. The beginning of all the good girls go to hell mentions the pearly white gates being more of a picket fence, hinting at the idea that wealth and completion of the American Dream can create a form of heaven on earth. She mentions being unable to bring your friends, alluding to the loneliness at the top. All of this of course isn’t truly heaven because she had to lose her humanity and sign deals with men in suits to get there.
Thank you so much for really thinking about the concepts without judgment. I watched another video that completely wrote her off as an evil sadist before even starting the video. If you watch her interviews, she is such a sweetheart so it's upsetting to see people paint her as something she's not.

probably because the bible refers to God as He, and they're talking about both kinds of the gender assigned characteristics of humankind are applicable to God, so the "gender fluidity" of God is an interesting concept, but we already have God's pronouns given in the bible spoken from the mouth of Jesus

The concepts are far from "loosely" placed, they are solidly placed, the entire song is about us destroying the planet "man is such a fool why are we saving him?" "There's nothing left to save now" and "hills burn in California" "once the water starts to rise" is all in reference to us destroying our planet with climate change.

In Cantonese we are so used to referring to people as 「佢」which is an unspecified him/her so honestly any ambiguity when it comes to referring to an "other" feels more natural to me than when they have to be specified and repeatedly referred to as a gendered other.
