Man you know these videos really make my day. I get to learn, chill to some cool music and get send off with some positive words. Keep it up man, you're doing the lords work
Loved the UltraNova groove. It was my first synth and it still holds its own against the more modern stuff I've gotten since. Pretty impressive VA PolySynth for its age.
It's a vibe 100%. I think a good way to refer to our own "artwork" or "masterpiece" is just with work or piece or track in this case. I know what you meant though, your tracks are always enjoyable.
I am just starting out with producing, so I am naturally absorbing all I can on the internet. So far, your vids are the best I have encountered. Love the way you explain what you are doing, love the exact sound you have, love everything about it... Thanks man, you are being extremely helpfull!
ricky man, this is such a killer one for me. have a ton of digitakt projects ive been wantintg to port to the daw. cheers brother honeslty love how educational this place has gotten.
Dude, this is such a vibe. Also, when you were talking about how the A wasn’t in the C Minor scale, it was the G Minor scale. I’m not here to be that guy, just helping out 😁
Welcome to the key of don't worry about it, my favorite key haha. For when you're jamming with others, C minor works over that but we both know you've got extra funky goodness in there. Like the the E7 in Imagine by John Lennon, it's tastefully out of key but it doesn't derail the key 😁 Great work!!
Man, you know what I miss? Minimal creations. Ages you had that Abalone Bass one that was really a massive source of inspiration. Would love to see more of those! (This one is great don't get me wrong, and I learned loads of new tricks!)
This is heat Ricky. 🔥 Would you consider doing a detailed video on your Elektron > DAW workflow with Overbridge? Do you bounce your delays and reverb channels from the hardware into Live, or do you just redo all your reverbs and delays in the DAW?
I'm working hard to get to this level of vibe. You get there so quickly. That beat with the bass line was banging! I'd love a whole video on how you find a good bass tone and complementary groove.
What a track! That’s it , I’m getting an octatrack. Not gonna lie I’m a bit intimidated by it but these videos keep sucking me in. Excellent stuff Ricky ❤
The Ultranova is an amazing synthesizers with very cheesy presets. I have had this synth since 2015 and I have made so many crazy and evolving patches with it. Think Tim Hecker kind of sounds. But aside from the post ambient sounds it has the capability to make some solid patches that are very useful in a lot more pop oriented stuff.
I love this…I disagree and agree with your choices simultaneously….I’m like “I love the marimba sound why you kill that? 😡 Oh that organ is cool tho!”🙂!
Hey Ricky, love your content! I've seen both you and @EZBot use your Digitakt as the master sequencer over the Octatrack, so I was curious as to why you go about it this way. I've always considered the Octatrack to be the main brain over all my other gear including the Digitakt, so I'd be interested in hearing your perspective on this.
You always say you work at Elektron, I actually been going to visit sites to see what kind of job offer they have, what us your occupation there? If you don't mind me asking,, I'm in South Africa
If I may ask, how did you get into the music industry and working with what you do. I’m interested in getting into it as a senior in high school! Sick track btw!
You are in G minor, the F key is in the scale, it's the 7th of Gm7. It doesn't matter if the first chord is C. Since you are in G minor, you have the same sharp and flat of B flat major scale. So you have B flat and E flat, the rest is "white keys".
nice video, had these ultranova and later the mininova. I personally don't like the sound engine of the synths - not really crisp and clear- like there is a filter on it. look and feeling of the knobs from the mininova are great .. but the Sound is much important. now I have a Peak and it's much better. 😅👌
Interesting that you're using the DT solely as a drum machine with mutes and fades and the OT as a sampler with performance tweaks then migrating the whole shebang into a DAW to arrange. I've never really understood the OT possibilities until now. Dammit.
2:42 Was that just a sliced snare or a sliced loop? I’ve never sliced a non-loop. Not even done watching but I had to go back and watch that part again. Dope as always!
It was a drum break, and then when I randomized the locks it mainly landed on snares. But, I do slice up high hat, samples to be able to give it more dynamic movement when playing it in. Works especially good on an open hat to make it sound like both a closed and open hat.
What desk are you using in the studio? I’m looking for something with a pull out tray for a midi controller but the market for music production desks is bleak. You’re always looks pretty nice from what I can see.
Man you know these videos really make my day. I get to learn, chill to some cool music and get send off with some positive words. Keep it up man, you're doing the lords work
Most definitely the best f'n synthesizer ever made. Ultranova, why companies choose to discontinue cool shit really sucks..
Loved the UltraNova groove. It was my first synth and it still holds its own against the more modern stuff I've gotten since. Pretty impressive VA PolySynth for its age.
44:00 - "It works...ish" - Just priceless! Great groove too!
This is both a groove and a vibe
Dont trust is fake
The Octrack is such a fun jam machine when it comes to implementing real instruments or your voice into beat making. I love doing that too!
loving these longer vids ricky so cool to see you build a track!!

Dweebish! What a throwback :D Loving this workflow
One of the best tracks you've done on here man
This challenge is really great! I always like these longer videos, top man Ricky :)

Love that organ bass, i've actually designed some myself for ableton.

Please help me hahaha. You’re right!
@MatthewKenndy310 But you are that guy. Keep simping (and posing).

I love this, thank you so much for all this info!
Man, I miss my Ultranova... best keybed on any synth and great sounds and programability with their software back in the day.

TIME TO VIBE! Keep up the good work, absolutely enjoyable. 🔥
Can't wait to hear it tonight!

Yo that modulation is sick. Getting Ridge Racer vibes from that second part.
DUUUUUUDE I was addicted to Ridge Racer back in the day.. holy crap..

Damn dude wish I could see you play tonight, been a minute since I last saw you play! New track is bangin'!
I’ve been doing pink noise mixing for quick mic down lately. Give it a try!

This is heat Ricky. 🔥

OMG THE ULTRANOVA! 💓
I'm working hard to get to this level of vibe. You get there so quickly. That beat with the bass line was banging! I'd love a whole video on how you find a good bass tone and complementary groove.
Dope groove!
Have the mini nova that is buikd on the sound engine if the ultranova, great stuff, i have to see if i can also load these ultranova patches !
You can. I have one as well.
Ooooo damn, that synth is nice
Amazing and inspiring video. Thank you!
What a track! That’s it , I’m getting an octatrack. Not gonna lie I’m a bit intimidated by it but these videos keep sucking me in. Excellent stuff Ricky ❤
one step at a time! or I should say, one track at a time haha

This video is making me sad that I got rid of my ultranova a couple months ago 😭 such a good jam!
What little green mic is that?

Thank you for the regular videos on weekends. 😎🤘

It’s good but I think it needs some keys or something in the high/mid range or both, maybe a melody and some other changes.
You are in G minor, the F key is in the scale, it's the 7th of Gm7. It doesn't matter if the first chord is C. Since you are in G minor, you have the same sharp and flat of B flat major scale. So you have B flat and E flat, the rest is "white keys".
Ngl at first I thought the title meant you were making an hour long song
I need one of them mics. What is it?
@rickytinez
What kind of mic is that? Little green rectangular mic u plug in. Need to know.

😂wow - you send me a Digitakt? 😅.. I bet there’s a new synth around the corner ?
As someone who worked at Novation how would you compare the ks4/5 to the Ultranova??

He did a video on it. It’s pricey!
@@johncitizen8828 I can imagine. I think the only way to get one that isn’t ugly and has what I want is to have it built.
Did you already link to that weird green mic in another video?
Found it! Critter + Guitari, of course.
YEEEAH
Kerri Chandler vibe
Nice! What mic is that?
It’s the Critter Guitari mic! 👉 bit.ly/3PnmICF
@RickyTinez cheers for the link 🫡

Bruh, didn’t you get rid of a mininova? I am keeping mine despite the haters.
I had the mini nova maybe back in 2012-2013. Maybe I had one while working at Novation haha. But the Ultra is where it’s at!
C Dorian you’re in Ricky! 🎉
G minor 😊
@@Modrunnermusic you’re correct… I just checked the key. 😁
what is that weird microphone?
you lose me when you move to the computer :|
Sorry bro, usually like your stuff but this is dissonant as hell and not in a good way.
