    Great video, and a good reminder that I need to keep working at my goals even if progress is slow.

    Great video. One of the best on youtube on the subject. Also consider what else could be hidden from sight: Sacrifice of personal values and beliefs, crime, nepotism, corruption and a host of other negative consequences. If you think you can reach the top and be the same person you where when you started then think again. It's extremely rare if not impossible. There's a reason why people whi make it there become assholes.

      LOL that was good. but yes, by the time you climb the rope, you will be a changed person. maybe even that asshole because you're bitter over all the blisters or because some dimwit was hanging onto the end, whipping it in a circle trying to make you fall.

      not every successful person is an assholez just because you think they are doesnt mean you are ight.

      Even if you include values in your definition of success, there's still some luck involved. Some of us just have more privilege than others - the world sucks in that way. Even among the privileged, some of us were taught a realistic way of viewing the world (success won't be handed to you, but you do have agency), whereas others have to take the time to learn new beliefs and will get there slower.

    Sad to say that but many benefits are inherited like appearance, talents, money, relationships. And these people have done nothing. They just got it when they appeared into this world. So we are not equal from the very beginning.

      We don't start on equal terms, sure. But that doesn't mean we can't improve our situation. We just have to put in more work :)

      Jenny White I kinda see what you’re saying, but with appearance it’s all mental some people would think someone looks good some people wouldn’t. Yeah some people are born with talents but some people can waste their talents and not reach their full potential. Also, some people can inherit money from family but to maintain wealth you still would have to do some sort of work.

      One wouldn't describe Danny DeVito as a looker. Yet he's had a successful acting career. And of course, that's just focusing on fame as a measure of success, which is an iceberg all it's own. There is a whole world of successful people out there you'll never hear about.
      What is true for some people, such as being born wealthy, being gorgeous, and just being lucky, is irrelevant. All that matters is how you plan to achieve your own goals. The comparison game serves no one.

    There are some people who didn't work for their success, and it may feel like your work is meaningless compared to theirs, but their path to success doesn't matter. The same goes for when you see people who work their entire life and still don't see the luxury life. In the end, the only thing that's going to change your life are the things you do.

    Do you have any tips, for handling (treatment and prevention) demoralization? Or, avoiding the formation of cognitive biases, and distortion? Another problem, is emotional/cognitive energy drain. I'd love to see some vids on this topic, by you :) Thanks.

    Bruh I support your channel and I get where you are coming from with this video.
    But listen most of the people never did anything and where just born into everything,some people got famous and rich in a month over some stupid thing,also some people have extremely bad luck,they put in the time and the work for months and years and still nothing changes...
    Sooo this is a double side of the coin :)

    • @FulcanMal
      @FulcanMal 5 років тому +6

      Some people are born wealthy and fortunate, for sure, and others are unlucky. But to say that "most of the people" who are successful got that way through luck is wildly inaccurate. A percentage yes, but not most. And in any case, it doesn't even matter if it is most. All that matters is that if you aren't lucky, then hard work and persistence is the only way to achieve your goal. So rather than bemoaning your lack of luck, it's time to get to work.
