2:09 Lovely tomato plants.
In Sweden, there are so many greenhouses setting empty, because it is cheaper to import from Holland and Spain. Breaks my heart to see all that going to waste. Living through the US 1980's farm crisis, I remember what it was like to be a farmer when the bottom drops out of the market.
it's not always about price - flavour matters
Very sad, but everything changes and businesses need flexibility and learn to follow the trends. We went from tomatoes to specialty peppers and find it exciting and rewarding.
I wonder how though, gas prices are through the roof here at the moment..
If I could spend my days in a greenhouse and still support myself I definitely would. Another great video!
Aim for your dreams
Fantastic video. We started with 12x12 greenhouse try out the process. We will be building a 20x36 this fall when it cools down. Primarily to feed family, but also to investigate a side hustle for myself and my wife. I work from home so going out to check on it a few times a day is really helpful
That is awesome!
I work in construction and maintenance but I found a very interesting niche. I work for a company that converts HID lighting to LED and builds and maintains climate cells. These are basically closed systems loaded with climate control tech, LEDs, automatic irrigation and CO2 where companys can experiment with plants. We are all over the industry, we visit laboratorys, seed growers, farmers, even really big companys like bayer and syngenta buy our systems. Im currently stuck at home with covid but I cant wait to get back to work!
That sounds awesome
Multi-span greenhouses with low energy consumption will become the direction. We can produce tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers in winter without heating in all greenhouses (light radiation conditions must reach a balanced value)
yep
Did you stop making videos? I love your channel and would love to see more money saving ideas.
took a break, getting back into it- been shooting video recently. Thank you
@@SimpleTek Looking forward to it. Have a good holiday.
Excellent video, Now a day everything is automation. Sensors, green house Modeling (Plant, Heat light, nutrient)
Yes, you are right! Thank you for the kind words!
My god with all that education there should be no starvation on earth and green house growing should have sprung up everywhere
when have humans done the right thing though? lol
Do you have a video on all of the trays, tools, and such that a beginner might want for easiest seed starting?
not yet but that's a GREAT topic for a future video
Good call! I have been collecting seeds and such for next year's but I have really zero experience with plants... Energy well I'm pretty good with that but growing life.. eh I could use some tips for sure.
It is sad about the Spanish type environmentally destructive greenhouses and how they have hurt small ones. And you mentioned taste. So that comes from soil and freshness right? So my question is, do you have an episode focusing on small and medium greenhouse soil systems? How do you get the outside garden flavour and nutrients in a greenhouse? You have pallets of soil exchanging annually? Weeds wouldn’t allow it. So use worms? Got a soil episode?
what's a Spanish type?
Thanks for the info, about the greenhouse job sir...plan to work in Canada as a greenhouse worker.

The future of the Greenhouse investments will be built around the cities and will be family jobs . They will growth for that city. They will earn better money according to bigger investments.
I agree
What about automation/engineering??
great point!
I wish
wishes can come true
Can you help me get with one that offers private living conditions and off the books?
sorry
Where have you been? No videos from you in a while. Hope everything is ok.
Needed a break, back soon! Thank you for the concern!
Are there grants programs?Ready to pay today depending...
maybe? depends on where you live
How to apply for job in greenhouse am graduated in agriculture science
They don’t teach you that in school??
What countries in Europe have more greenhouses?
Netherlands has a lot
How about someone to talk to the plants? They love that. (so do the plants) 😁
now that would be a cool job!!!!!
@@SimpleTek 😁

You vanished. Still making videos?
Needed a break, working on one now
the green house thing is not going to become a worldwide success. what is the purpose of this thing? keep plants from cold, bugs, and storm, right? so it strip one of the major function in place don't snow. for those places like that, you can expect tropical storm, which are known arch enemy of green house, if they are still construct by transparent plastic sheets. flooding and bugs are concerned too.
I won't say it is bad, but it simply not good enough yet for those place without snow. because less population live in the circle with snow fall. how much it grows?
4, 5 level stack up, may be? if we are talking about plastic reinforce structure, the mass of each level of soil and plants are heavy. so people literally build a house with walls for it.
then you face the problem of no sunlight, electricity for pumps, fans, lighting. they give it a name "verticle farming".
some country use their famous ghost town multi storey building to do that, the electricity and water bill crush the project. and there are hidden enemies, hypothetically you can grow 100k plant with or without seed, if it is leaves you want, how about fruit and seed? imagine the manual labor to pollinate say, 20k tomatoes plants in the right season, that time gap may be just a week. that's million of flowers. how many person you need? leave the insect to do the job? where do the bees coming from nowhere? how about lab flies? that will defeat the original purpose of a greenhouse. and risk of lab flies escaped. almost no company talk about this subject. and looking at their products, most are leaves plant.
what if these kind of projects can't breakthrough the pollination barrier? eventually they will fail, and fail spectacular.
or, they have to make a big u turn planting some leaves that is easy to grow, high profit, such as narcotic weeds. there are some sign that some companies start to promote greenhouse hemp "for their fibers", be serious, hemp don't need greenhouse, they can survive the worst climate and even grow in concrete cracks. it is a robust plant.
what are they planting then? something very fishy……
Wrong
@@SimpleTek there is nothing wrong with this skill. it works fine in snow covering areas.
but it can go woke in some other areas. you can search those "hemp greenhouse" idea or "vertical farming in multi storey building" channel. who needs to protect one of the strongest plant we know in a greenhouse?
they were already there.
greenhouse is a tool. when the purpose go woke, tools don't decide what it produce, people's do.
why I am saying it is not going worldwide suitable because those greenhouse product in tropical region is still 2~10 times price compare to ordinary farming, which is not competitive. rare plants and herbs may be the direction to go here, but also narcotic hemp as well. if people lost money in these project and press by money lender. there are cases police raid these kind of greenhouse for narcotic plants and illegal immigrant workers. they though nobody will figure out what's planting inside 5/f multi storey building above.
well, this kind of planting gives bad names to greenhouse or vertical farming.
one of major reason is still the cost and bogus accounting figures. eliminate ordinary farming? or decrease the cost of greenhouse? in fact, certain ordinary farming already employ "vertical" ideas, such as grapes, while the ground can also entertain other species love shade. you may consider that's a kind of primitive double storey planting.
this skill is a supplement, not the solution. if ordinary farming is not sufficient to grow enough food, what makes you think greenhouse with a high electricity bill and probably more labour cost can?
