Its common for people to call the IR4 IC3 instead because they look extremely similar however the IR4 is an eletric train while the IC3 is not. You can actually hear the difference and you can also smell the difference

Great video David. When I was in school in the early 90's I would go to central station to catch a bus out to Amager, even though I could have more conveniently transferred to the bus from another station. To this US country boy unfamiliar with trains, it was such a delight to arrive there on the S-tog and go up through the station and out to the street. In those days, the station was a fog of cigarette smoke, and a lot of the S-tog rolling stock still dated from the 60's, but there some newer ones. I was back for a visit in Nov. '19 and so many nice memories came back. Ready to go back again.

An interesting problem with those double-decker services hauled by diesel loco's, the ME, is the fact that the locomotive has quite low exhausts, which in fact are below the air intakes for the wagons, which mean they suck in the diesel exhaust. Filters have been installed in both the trains and coaches but the air quality in the wagons is lower that normal, and the people working in the wagons they have an increased risk of cancer. While an electric version of the ME exists, the EA, i believe only 4 units are still operational. DSB has bought a significant number of Vectrons, designated EB to replace both the ME's and EA's in regional service, and eventually the IC3 in the Eurocity service to Hamburg, using Talgo wagons. The first 3 of these Vectrons arrived 2 weeks ago, so its finally time to see some new material on the railways.

You say S-tog very well. The unit with white doors and black windowbands, are unit 32, the only unit to wear this livery. All trains were due to be refurbished last year. That was later moved to this year, which since has been delayed for an unknown time, due to lack of funding. All S-trains were due to have this livery, upon refurbishment

Nice video, and yes that was both a diesel and an electric unit coupled together. In fact, an IC3 DMU and an IR4 EMU. They look very similar and are built on the same platform but they have a few differences, like one obviously being electric but also in terms of seat comfort and the number of doors (but yeah that is a bit too geeky). Many of the "IC3" consists you quoted actually have an IR4 at the front of the consist that they couple off in Fredericia since 1. the lines north of there aren't electrified and 2. there isn't the need for the extra capacity north of there either.
Also oh boy the IC4 where do I begin... the train that made Italy the most hated country by the danes. Just a massive national scandal! So many years late, with so many problems, poor comfort and oh so horrible reliability. It may have style but substance is none. And that's not even mentioning the fact that one of the sets they had ordered was sent to Libya without their approval! And yes, they came from the same factory that made the GWR class 800 trains. And the FYRA trains of the Netherlands which didn't even get to operate for a year. I'd just reccomend you go read the wikipedia page about the IC4 because this comment is long enough as is.

I have read about them, quite the fiasco! I'd love to go to Libya and hunt down that lost Danish train

You say bad comfort but in terms of passenger satisfaction they actually rank the highest in DSB's current fleet. Not that that excuses the other problems, but it is worth a thought.
