Here we have a summery of why Mike elected to end Plastic Apocalypse. Not the full on details, as there wasn't that much to dive into. A lot of this vid comes my discussions with Mike, and also some of my own opinion. If you want to support or check out Mike's future project, you can see it all here: reveilleshortfilm.com/
I'm very sorry plastic apocalypse is coming to an end I'll never forget when I first remember last apocalypse six years ago my first nobody UA-cam when I was 8 years old in 2015 I thought still make Lucifer but it never came true Falls just left is the saber-toothed and the Prisoner operation let me know what you want to say about my comments
That was amazing trailer I didn't know story so I it kind learn more battles in Italy very interesting with back story of the people who actually did that
Damn. All this time I kind of just accepted that it was a fact that I’d get to see Lucifer one day, and that it would be one of the best days of my life. Oh well. I can still rewatch the old ones for fun. This breaks my heart though
In his comment section I actually got to speak to him briefly. I asked him about bloody Omaha and AP He told me that he still loves BO and wishes to create it one day, but he is more focused on current project and will put BO on hold. Then followed that up by telling me "I have sadly grown out of AP, I wouldn't except a sequel."
Really sad news, must've watched the original video over one hundred times back in the day and as sad as it is to know it's over, I'm glad that we've got such good quality videos to enjoy that did end up completed. All I can say is thank you Michael and everyone that worked on the series for the quality content. Not sure if Michael is making an actual announcement on his channel it whatever but since this is the only place I'm aware of the news I'll leave the comment here .
9:45 Thank you so much for the mention, for me it’s just an honor to be part of this community :), I hope to see more projects from all the members of this community soon.
I remember with my friend, when I was younger, watching these stop-motions over and over again.and when Sabre tooth hill came out,I thought about how badass the railway guns would be.sadly that future doesn’t exsist. We will always miss you micheal Ackerman and your creation.
A sad thing to be sure. Mikes stuff was always good and i always looked forward to his next project. A shame he sold his stuff and moved on, but I'm glad i was at least around to see his work throughout the years. Plastic Apocalypse will always have a place in my heart, here's hoping someone else takes the mantle of making damn good Army men animations in the future.( My next pick would be you quality wise, you're one of the few that does damn good work)
As you get older, interests change. Totaly understandable. It's great to branch out because when you do the same content over and over again that creative spark goes away.
True I was addicted to army men stop motion and other stuff when I was young but as I grew older, I got interested into gaming and history, but it's still fun to watch army men stop motion as a teen.
You really hit the nail on the head at 6:00 - 6:15 in regards to content creation and being stuck within a certain niche. Great video and an interesting watch.
Even though its sad It was Mike's decision, Plastic apocalypse was the one that Inspired me to make my own Stop motions..Its hard to believe but plastic apocalypse will be in our hearts forever... Thank you mike!..
I've loved Plastic Apocalypse Series although kinda sad that Micheal Akkerman sell all of his Army Men collection on eBay I'm really proud of him of making a WW2 film Reveille.
Mike is too good artist for Just plastic soldiers. I hope he will success on his path. All i can Say is thanks to him that he inspired me for making my own films.
Plastic Apocalypse, and channels like yours inspired me to do the things I do today. Knowing that one of the biggest is gone and done with plastic Army Men is sad but kinda poetic in a way. Now that they are gone many other people have risen up and done there own stop motion animations and made there own stories with them.
Thank you for clearing this up. It took me some digging and I figured it was more of a loss of passion or monetary hardship that caused this. Mike; don't stop what you're doing. It's obvious you enjoy the live action aspect more and honestly the war in Italy isn't mentioned much so having something from that period would be amazing to see. And with that, happy hunting people.
The only one I believe that can rival or even surpass PA is BlackStarInitiative. Those videos are marvels for small figure animation. CGI, special effects. Though they only just now started having a story, before it was basically just action scenes, and he’s still going strong after all these years.
Man that makes me sad I remember years ago when I used to watch the both of you guys all the time it's sad to hear how it's all over it was a big part of my childhood
Well said Moe, PA maybe over but this is a opportunity for new creators to flourish and crank out there own projects instead of army men being totally rapped around PA. i also strongly agree with your statement of why creators deserve support for there different projects and and concepts. I could tell Akkerman was getting nowhere with advertising his concepts to the PA community so a farewell was indeed fair. I wish Akkerman the best of luck on Reverllie and I really enjoyed his concept art of Allied Kingdom/Spectors. (Too bad that didn’t go anywhere). And good luck to you on your future concepts, ideas, and projects.
Honestly, it ended in the right way. As it is, The Prisoner Operation, Hedge Base and The Sabertooth work fantastically as a trilogy. And the unmade stuff works as great ancillary media and background lore, making Plastic Apocalypse a setting, in the same way as Warhammer 40,000. To have created a fairly open setting from a fun summer project from over a decade ago is amazing! Reveille looks like it'll be brilliant, there's no reason for Michael to be stuck doing the same thing forever. He's like Gerry Anderson, Plastic Apocalypse was his Thunderbirds, Reveille will be his Space: 1999. And I wish him all the best.
This was great you put the message straight that plastic apocalypse is over and we need to accept that and I’m fine if you want to make new content all I hope is your channel will grow bigger and better and maybe some one can make a documentary about mike akkerman all and all awesome job!
I have watched him when I was 6 and now I just found out and I will miss him my childhood dream was to buy his army men collection but it was already bought and I won't be able to buy myself but he will be in are hearts always
I think when that channel uploaded a live action ww2 thing that was the obvious sign they probably wouldn't have time or even want to do stuff with army men and focus on live action stuff.
Rest in peace Plastic Apocalypse, the thing that brought me into Amry Men. I will admit I was in denial and bargaining, I even pestered him a little (which I apologize for) but I understand that Mike wants to work on something else and we must all except that...
