The mirror reflection on the water of the sky was surreal. Oh, and some good fish also. Great experience I'm sure.

You have no idea how much enjoyment these competition videos give me Man, I appreciate you showing the techniques and flies. Are all of the trout stocked fish ? The only wild fish here in West Virginia are in our streams and creeks. I’m fly fishing pay to fish lakes right now and soon the State stocked lakes this spring. I have a dream to Stillwater fish out west someday soon. Thanks a bunch!!!!!!

These lakes are all stocked and managed (mostly) to be big fish factories. That usually means less fish, but bigger. Most of these fish have spent a good long time in these lakes so they're very much holdover fish. Not quite wild in nature, but also not fresh stockers.
There will definitely be more of these in the future. I really enjoy fishing in these and I feel like I learn something every time I do.

Congratulations Bob. You’re right there. A couple things go your way next time and you’re top 3 for sure.

Yeah. Theres always going to be stuff both in and out of your control. I hope to get to the point where I can take advantage of all the things I can control to overcome the things I can't in these competitions.

Hey cool video man, fell across it whilst looking at fishing vids waiting at the airport…! Comp fishing is one of the coolest sports , i was lucky enough to represent Australia last season in Scotland for the commonwealth champs and it was an absolute buzz! As you keep going with it your efficiency will come along also! Best thing is that you were very honest with your assessment of yourself and that’s the only way you grow and weed out bad habits, something that a lot of Fly anglers find hard to do is keep themselves honest! It’s never them it’s always something else. Anyway cool vid I’ve subscribed so looked forward to other comp vids. All the best

Thanks for sharing! You're an outstanding fisherman, and you'll work out those inefficiencies

Theres always something we can improve upon. Determined to get working through a lot of it and see where it takes me.

Glad day 2 felt better, super interesting how the bite would change so much based on beat, weather, time of day, etc. So much to consider

Yeah. In a way it's like normal fishing where you're problem solving. Theres just more variables in play.

Sucks the weather changed in the last session! Bob was just warming up!!! Decent session. I look forward to your future comp videos 🎉. It's also crazy your 3X broke... Bad spool or smtg?? Fish were nice obviously but still... Seems off

It's just one of those things where I'm balancing super clear water and fish that have been casted to for hours with potential for breakoffs if they eat the flies at the wrong angle/timing.

Bob, if you're fishing against Devin, you're fishing against the best. You put these comps down to Lessons Learned. Each time you've competed, you've improved. You're a natural when it comes to fishing. You just have to get your style and equipment up to speed for competitive fishing, and it's obvious you're doing that. I have no doubt people are noticing you at these comps. You are an up and comer! Keep up the good work! We're all rooting for you, buddy!

Thanks! I appreciate the kind words. This is just the start of all this. I'm looking forward to working hard at it and putting in the time to improve my technical ability, decision making, and everything else. On to the next one!
