  • Ride along with Deputy T. Pickens, the first woman to join our motorcycle unit. Deputy Pickens came to the Traffic Enforcement Solo Unit in December 2020 after working in the Greenspoint Tactical Unit in north Harris County. “Being in a male dominated field, it can be intimidating at times. But, when you have good leadership, and honestly when you have good teammates, it really does help,” Deputy Pickens said. If you want to be part of our team, visit 👉HCSOJobs.com.

    Bexar County Sheriff's office needs to do these types of videos to help recruitment and let the public know what they do on a day to day basis . Great job HCSO!

    Ive noticed in the US (im in Australia) that the motorcycle police rarely if ever wear proper safety gear i.e pants/jacket like we do here in aus. Is it just because theres no law for it or its just not done? For reference look up either on here or google australian motorcycle police to see what we wear here

    • @darrellmartinez16

      I think it's more for mobility and also it's easier to take off in case an officer gets shot because in America we have crazy people, some may have guns.

    • @devon2981
      @devon2981 28 днів тому

      Well, I don't think they typically move very fast. Even on the Highway.
      Also, I know I'm late lol, sorry.
      I live in Dallas, and most of the MBUs do not wear very much protective gear in relation to Motorcycle Safety, I think mostly for mobility and the assumption that you wouldn't need it for the simple traffic violations and processions that they encounter.

    Good story. I always say, if u can do the job then be my guess. But alot of positions are non merit base now.
    One thing she said was the key, good leadership. Alot of civil service jobs lack good leadership...

    Have to do time in the jail to promote…yeah cuz that makes a lot of sense. What idiotic policies some big agencies have smh

    • @PTRRanger951
      @PTRRanger951 Рік тому +1

      Why is it idiotic. I can tell you have zero experience with law enforcement.
      Most larger agencies that have a jail requires time in the jail when they are new. It allows them to learn to work with suspects they will encounter on the streets, and the tricks the pull.
      Most larger agencies also require promotions to rotate back into the jail side to learn to be a supervisor there. As a supervisor they can be called to cover any aspect of the job. So knowing how to work the jail only benefits them and gives them a chance to be able to learn how to be a supervisor. It’s because they will be supervising people their entire shift, not a quarter of their shift if they are out on patrol because all their people are spread out of the patrol area. It gives them more experience in a year than 5 years trying to learn it on patrol.

    • @PTRRanger951
      @PTRRanger951 Рік тому +2

      It’s not all about citation. It’s about the education and curbing their behavior. Sometimes warning will do that better than a citation.
