Ive just started my PDM journey with a discovery set. I really enjoy all of them so far, and Althaïr seems to be no exception. Thanks for the insightful video, ive watched all of them so far
Great review! I love my bottle of Althair, and I definitively get the tobacco smell. But Althair is way less sweet than the Tom Ford one, which positively surprised me, even though I had high expectations already. I think it's masculine leaning, with good performance and silage.

Not a big fan of pdm fragrances in general but I blind bought this, I have no clue why haha. I am not disappointed. Doesn’t smell groundbreaking niche but it smells really nice. I’m looking forward to wearing this in the cold. It’s more fresh than the notes may let on and I don’t mind that at all

Sounds pretty good, but the inclusion of ambroxan will keep me from caring about trying it. Unfortunately it ruins fragrances for me

I really like the scent but I feel like it doesn't last long. I have the 83% version. How about you? bought from pdm itself.
When you say bourbon, vanilla, cinnamon, and praline I picture Angel's Share. Curious how they compare or would layer. Any yes I know AS has Cognac rather than Bourbon, but still.
Ya nah it’s different. Angels share is crystal clear to me on the message and that’s cognac, dry oak cask accord and sweetness.
the cinnamon in Altheir is very subtle..

I think there is some similarity to Angels Share, I much prefer Althaïr to Angels Share. The complex notes in the opening and the elemi resin in the mid temper Althaïr’s sweetness better.

I want to buy my first gourmand. I am considering one of this list : side effect, oajan, herod or carlisle. However, now there is a new kid in the block - althair. What are your thoughts about it, is it superior to the former list mentioned?

I bought side effect it’s amazing the rum and cinnamon are very strong then vanilla and tobacco come out more in the dry down. The projection is very good and it lasted more than 12 hours on my skin. I bought it from nose Paris they give you gifts and 6 free samples as well I would recommend them.
Go with Oojan. I smelt all of them and Oojan rules as gourmand followed by Side Effects. Harod and Carlisle are more of Smokey perfumes especially Harod.

Smells nothing like Tobacco Vanille or Grand Soir to me. Althair has elements of Mercedes Club Black and Dior Vanilla Diorama with the PDM DNA, the open is the best part, the drydown is very basic and synthetic, it has that grainy ambrox drydown just like club black..
I don’t think I said it smells like any of those but hey it’s whatever you like I haven’t tried that Mercedes one and Vanilla Diorama just because it has a Vanilla mid everyone and their moms will compare it to any Vanilla fragrance lol

But no, I'm not just mindlessly comparing it to anything with vanilla, I'm an experienced fragrance enthusiast, and it's genuinely my opinion that Althair most resembles the two I mentioned.

Smells like Pegasus with orange blossom
Even his description of the mood of the fragrance Althair is similar to Pegasus, which is inviting, refined, and addictive, so it could be a new release winter banger for PDM.

I'm just not big fan of this company! The quality of fragrances are great. But just to simple for my taste...
I actually am somewhat of a fan of PDM, but even I was gonna say the same thing. This just seems so safe and redundant with the other sweet vanilla fragrances in their catalogue.
Althair honestly just sounds like a cash grab. It doesnt sound unique or even interesting at all, unless you've never smelled the other PDM's before at all. Its quality, but a super predictable and simple release with very basic notes. I have Layton, Layton Exclusif, Carlisle, Grand Soir, Angel Share and Side Effect, and I havent heard anything in the reviews of Althair that distinguishes it from any variant or combination of those scents. There's no way Im buying this at retail.
@silentsir2446 I agree 100%. Unfortunately I bought at retailer. Wore it a few times and traded it away. All I could smell was orangey vanilla. I like PDM but I was really disappointed. I wish they would have put something else to balance the overwhelming sweetness. It is so linear and boring unfortunately as well. Oh well. I traded for Nishane Ani. It worked out ok for me.
