You’re completely right. Changing yourself or forcing something from nothing is a terrible basis for a relationship. The best, long-term relationships start from friendship because it establishes that you enjoy each other’s company. It’s not just about physical romance because you just genuinely being around them. Mind you, you don’t solely rely on them for your happiness but when you’re around them, you bring out the best in both of you. Because those kind of relationships where you’re dependant on “the good times” often fail because you can’t handle arguing, even if those arguments could bring you closer. That’s why people say that love is a choice, not a feeling. You choosing to support the other because you know what they’re going through and then both coming out happier and stronger.

Aside from the humor the point is that you aren't going to get very far if you're only caring about what YOU want. Not that you can't care about the things you want but if you're gonna be in a relationship you need to care about the other person more than yourself which is something that will also take time to build.
Just make sure that you know they care about you and aren't taking advantage of you for money, status, or other things.

The key to making people like you, and this goes not just for women, but anybody. BE A GOOD PERSON. Listen to them, yes, but also find common ground where you both connect. Find things you enjoy doing together, and for the love of God COMMUNICATE!!!! Talking with someone you want to be with and making your intentions known in a non-creepy way can be the thing that sets the tone for the whole relationship. If you don't tell the person, "Hey, I'm interested in you romantically" (not in those exact words), they're not a damn mind reader. And if you get rejected: DO NOT PUSH IT!!!! That's a sure-fire way of getting someone who may have potentially been interested in you with time to not be anymore. If you like someone as a person, and the attraction goes beyond just physical, then be happy to have that person in your life. The friendzone doesn't exist because nobody owes you sex or a relationship.

She confides in me because I give her advice. But with interests I can tell she's not listening or doesn't want to hear it. Doesn't mean she doesn't respect me but the interest isn't there. I try to teach her stuff but it's just not for her. Is what it is.

For the love of me, I cannot hold any conversation with almost anyone if I have to look at their face for more than 1/5 of a second. I completely lose my thoughts and direction, what I was going to say, and the pertinence of it, which only makes me talk more but also less and less relevant, and it hurts to think about how weird I looked each time, about that look of reservation and judgement, and the ambiant awkwardness that ensued. In job interviews and in uncomfortable meetings with higher management is where it sucks most. When I’m on the spot, one on one (or 2). I’m still working on figuring out ways to avoid this from happening and avoid looking weird too often but that would also work for me (as a senior advisor in a very specific field, requiring higher knowledge and understanding about medecine and health, laws, regulations and politics, mechanics and engineering, statistics and a few complex actuarial calculations, but also that I have to engage with high level managers and directors, vice-presidents/presidents, etc, and after all this, my field is closely related and often associated with human ressources 😒 That’s where I get stuck. Whatever knowledge I have still doesn’t cut it for my lack of competence in social interactions… as it appears so.

I don't understand what the problem is. I'm the type of person that will put everything off until it goes away or comes back to bite me. I'll also just take whatever abuse is thrown at me at work because I struggle with confidence and understanding I have value. I know it's not the same across the board; but sometimes, especially when I'm stressed about it and freaking out because I don't know what to do, someone simply laying out what I need to do instantly grounds me and I can move on from there. If I was freaking out about something going on at work, someone giving me a bullet point list of what I need to do to fix the situation would be invaluable. I hardly think the advice is unsolicited if you're having a conversation about it, right?
If you're talking on the phone and a stranger comes up to you and starts railing you with advice out of nowhere about a conversation that doesn't involve them, fair point. But imagine talking about your problems with someone and them just staring at you, unable to speak because you did not solicit a response. To talk with someone about your problems IS to solicit their advice. That or just complaining for the sake of complaining. The wording is unfortunate, but I think that most people realize it's not literal speech. Just like "I'm dying to go home". No, you're not dying. You just very badly want to go home. Just as you don't NEED to do anything. It's nobody's place to force you to do something you don't want to do. But you might NEED to do something if you want to have a good outcome in a situation. You might NEED to do this or that, if you want to have a good future. A better way to phrase it might be, "If you want more respect in the workplace, you need to...", etc. But if someone was giving me advice (which I hope they are, if I actually want to fix my problem) and they said i needed to do something, my first reaction would not be to get offended at the message they weren't trying to convey and instead take a second to realize that they mean "for the best possible outcome, you need to...", and aren't trying to boss me around.

I cannot believe I am actually hearing a a man actually say something that prioritizes a woman's happiness, and be right about it. There's been been times where I would be mad about something, and I would try to talk to my husband about the issue and he would tend to interrupt or start getting up and doing something as I'm talking about some kind of feeling I'm having at that moment. It would anger me and it would turn into a little argument, my husband hates arguments because he is somebody that has a temper issue when angry, so when it comes to arguing, as he grew up (especially with a woman) he learn to walk away and leave. (Unless he's been directly disrespected) Anyway, back to the point. When he would leave he'd come home with "things" that he would think I would like or knows I would. Things like jewelry, some kicks, maybe a kitchen appliance flowers, but always something. And the first thing I always say besides thank you because I am going to appreciate that that argument stayed with him and he thought of me that whole time, but after thanking him I usually tell him I don't need anything to show how much you care about me. I just for once once you to listen to what I'm feeling at a moment without having to interrupt or speak back just listen for a few minutes just as I always listen to you. And that will make me happier than anything you had bought for me when you walk through that door.

I had my choice of men and was even proposed to several times. I had never been single or gone through a period where I didn't have somebody or wasn't dating a lot and I got super tired of men! I got super tired of men wanting to sleep with me, touch me any of that stuff and was about to swear off men for a while but then I met my husband.
I approached him just from seeing him smile from across the room. I never had to approach a man before and we were in a club, yikes but he was there working at the door as a bouncer for a second job while he was in school and working. I was a regular there had my own little podium thing I danced on, I never paid to get in, never paid for a drink it was kind of like my place. I kind of ran the place in my twenties and I knew all the employees but had never noticed this guy before but I'm guessing it's because I never had to wait in line and just always walked in and so I never saw him.
So on this particular night the light he was standing under at the door hit his dimple on his face just in the instant when I happen to look over his direction, and dimples get me everytime. I have one on one cheek he has one on the other cheek.
So anyway I approached him and turned out he was 6 years younger than me I was 26 and he was 21 and I never would have ever considered something like that but something was different, he was more mature than older guys I'd met. So he asked me on a date and I kind of canceled a couple of times but finally we did hang out. We went on a date and it ended up that he spent the night, but he didn't touch me at that time at all not even an arm around me.
I was living alone and really sleep better when I have someone sleeping next to me and he slept in my house for like 2 weeks straight never touched me until one night I basically had to attack him, lol. Turned out that was all I needed, someone just to be there and not touch me until I wanted to touch them.
Later he told me he had noticed me since his first day there and that he saw me all the time. He had even told his friends that he had seen his most beautiful girl at his work but he never thought I would give him the time of day so never thought about talking to me first. He wasn't my type but like I said the dimple got me but he wasn't my type at all but he was just what I needed at that time in my life. We have been together 16 years now and our daughter has his dimple 🥰
