After 3 seasons and some poor maintenance my original battery wasn't holding much of a charge. A jumpstart got the bike home from storage but a new battery was in the cards. This is a quick walkthrough of how to do it on a BMW F800GS. - Авто та транспорт
I'm sure others have probably already said, but it's always a good idea to check if things are working properly before you put the covers on, just in case. Great video as always.
Thank you very much, didn't think I could do it but your instructions were very clear! Much appreciated.
Thanks man, just picked up a '12 and love it.
This was uploaded 6 years ago. Just wanted you to know, still helpful. Thanks!
Glad to help. Cheers.
Nicely done and informative … as usual !! Thanks
It was very helpful! Thanks.
Thank you very much, very clear explanation!
Glad it was helpful!

greetings from Berlin
Glad it helped
thanks bro,,,learns alots from you.
Cheers!
The F800 had a heart transplant! Good Video :)
The font of ultimate knowledge.
Thanks. I need to change the battery on my F700. Same, same.
Good to know that it is not necessary buying OEM battery. Thanks!
Any battery will do as long as it has the amps. More and more people buying the lithium to save weight but a few friends have had issues so I am sticking with the old tech for now.
Thanks for sharing this valuable tip ! Can you do one about the Scotts Steering damper installation and setup ?
I did shoot some stills of that procedure. Pretty straight forward. Might make a video once I catch up.
:) I need to do this later this spring before i go on holiday :) Currently still riding daily but i need to charge the battery at work every monday because it barely makes it over the weekend :D.
Also those 2 bolts that are near the ignition i lost about 5 of em now :D
Good video! thank you!!
Glad you enjoyed Elan. Be well.
Simple and easy informed
My most popular video.
Nailed it, "Battery Retaining Bracket"
I noticed your Spot Gen 3 is mounted on the bike. I've been convinced to wear mine on my jacket so I can get to it. An accident or incident will likely separate you from the bike and the Spot. Not a good thing if you need it to get help. Thanks, the video is very informative.
Hi Steven. I have heard that. My issue is that I wear a lot of different gear so I like it on the bike or it gets forgotten. I will probably get the new one that can be left plugged in to bike power and that one will definitely be on the bars.
Just bought a 2010 with same paint job, this was great. Now can you just add like 25 more videos with various mechanical jobs so I have a reference manual please
letgouvgod If you don't mind waiting 25 years...
Great video bro!!
Thank you sir. Means a lot coming from you.
Thx man :-)
You are welcome!
thanks!
You are welcome. Still miss my 800 somedays.
SubD you up great video Brother !!Thank you !!
Thanks for the sub!
Very good video also changed in my F650 gs, however appeared on the screen "service" :(
+JOSE EDUARDO MACHADO Service just incates either the time or mileage interval has been reached. Dealer can reset or you can use a GS911.

Thanks for the link, very useful :)
Hell of a lot easier than a KLR! PITA!
What sensor fits into the battery cradle? My gs stalls, could that be the problem?
I don’t believe so. That connector isn’t as sensor as far asI remember.
What battery did you use or would recommend? I don't want to spend a lot, but I want a battery that will last.
I just bought an old school battery like the one that came with the bike. No fancy Lithium stuff. Around 100$ CDN. fortnine.ca/en/yuasa-maintenance-free-battery
Thanks for info.
Lo entiendo incluso sin saber hablar ingles, muchas gracias :)
De nada, amigo mío.
Shiiiit so that's how it's done lol ..... I always threw out my bike when the battery died :-)
Well you do ride a Dr.... ;-)
Lol ohhhhhhhh :-)
Can you remove that air filter without messing with the battery?
No need to mess with battery to change air filter.
I just connected the battery and now the service indicator has now appeared on the LCD, how can now I turn off the service indicator ?
You will need to get the dealer to do it or use something like GS911 which is a tool that allows you to do it yourself. The reminder comes on based on mileage or time between resets.
Wow! It's easier to remove the bike first and then the battery! ahahahahah!
ok, a little irony... you're great!
I just replaced my battery and I noticed there were no captured nuts. I put in the new battery and the bike works fine without them like before. Is this okay?
+Daniel Siddiqui The captured nuts are just there to make installation easier as it would be pretty hard to get a wrench on the nut to keep it from spinning. As long as the terminals are tight you are fine.
alright thanks!
+Awesome Players hey I have a 1990 katana 600cc , rode great , next day won't start at all, my lights wotk, everything works just won't start makes no noise at all....
How are the screws possibly staying put without the captured nuts? My battery came without the captured nuts as well and I ordered some as a regular circular nut won't fit into the battery terminal area.
Bro...when i replace a new batteries ..my bike can't stat...lamp ok..but enjine can't start..why
Sorry for late reply. Battery must not be charged.
Holy shit that's a pain compared to some other bike, on mine I just po p the seat off and take the battery out lol, no screwed brackets, just a rubber band.
Bit of a pain but the whole thing is still a ten minute job.
Easy peesy!
Lemon squeezy!
wear gloves!! always wears gloves and goggle. great vid thanks!!!
How to jump start this bike?
You can just hook up some jumper cables to the battery and use another vehicle's battery as the source. If you don't want to take all the plastic parts off you have to find the positive connector on the starter. That is a big fat cable that goes straight to the battery. The whole frame of the bike is negative. Some bikes like the 1150GS adventure actually had a little cap down by your left foot that allowed access to that terminal. I have never jump started my F800 so I don't know if that positive terminal is accessible. If not you will have to access to the battery.
Thanks for the suggestion, I had a G650GS and it was really simple to jump start, I though F800 would have the same option. Will try to find the positive connector.
On the G bikes wasn't there a terminal under the seat? No such thing on the 800 sadly. Taking the plastic off to access the battery is quick. 2 minutes tops.
Correct. G 650 had that option. I just didnt wanna take the plastic off. Will have to. Thanks, I appreciate the help. I love the channel. Regards from Costa Rica.
Well its easier than removing the battery and my gosh darn Honda fourtrax.
Hondas never break down so they don't need maintenance to be easy.
True, but seriously I needed to remove part of the frame to get at that fricken thing.
maybe you should clean this ting once in ten years looks totally worn down
Bike looked amazing and all shiny when I sold it.
