It's funny that Gene couldn't figure out how the man in the question with the greasy hair could polish his shoes with his head. Brett said he'd have to be younger and more limber. Richard Long said he didn't know how it would be possible, but he said "shoes" too..... Hello, people, he took his shoes *off* before polishing them with his head! Now that wasn't so hard, was it? ;-)
On an earlier episode it was ruled Necking and Kissing did NOT match because necking involved more than just kissing. But this time they do. The judging was at times not very fair.
Gene's wife Helen was on Tattletales several time with Gene. It was interesting to see the interaction between them. She seemed very confident and self assureed.
ROFL! Another fine after dinner episode! ;0) ROFL! Love ya Gene! ;0) ROFL! I'm writing this before I see the answer, but there are no penguins in Alaska. It should have been seal delight, polar bear delight, wolf delight, or moose delight... how did I do?
One of us commentators had made the comment that is not too hard to say that Jimmy polished his shoes with his head! Because it’s not impossible like he said, take off the shoes and then you could polish your head!!
I remember him fondly. His sense of humor was wry and sneaky in shows like this - "covered with whale oil" nearly put me in tears, because I didn't expect it and the mental vision was hilarious.
I don't know what Brett Somers was saying to Richard Long up there, but at about 15:45 he's covering her mouth with his hand, at 16:40 he's starting to lose it and by 17:30 he was stifling his laughter so hard he was crying.
They missed a good answer. She was a young heiress so... There was a young heiress named Fitches Who had simply incredible twitches She asked doctors Blade To come to her aid So he quickly removed her *RICHES*
Graff-Chase, round 1, question B: "Either he was necking, or he's as sick as a dog. WARM!" (Bzzt!) Round 2, question B: "Greasy from head to toe, old Jimmy. SHOES!" (Ding!) Super Match, part 1: (if asked before Jo Ann) NOSE (if asked after Jo Ann) TOP Part 2: STRIKE Graff-Harper, round 1, question A: "If Betty White is watching this, I'm a dead man. MALAMUTE Delight!" (Ding!)
Another question where the writers use Alaska instead of the intended North/South Pole... North Pole or Nanook questions are tiresome anyway since they usually pull from the same few answers.
Penguins live in and around Antarctica and as far as I know, not one single penguin has swam (or flown in the case of these nincompoops) north of the equator.
The doctor question probably should have been thrown out because Kaye rattled off a bunch of possible answers, and could very well have influenced the answer the contestant gave.
Richard Long died and the same week of airing this, and his last movie was "Death Cruise"...and his last official answer on the Match game he answered "dead"... then his son Richard Long gets shot dead by a Policeman who walked free.. Phew... scary world..
...so he quickly removed her *riches.* That would have been my answer (and I would have done just as well as Cathy, I notice). An heiress would have lots of money, and would call one of these expensive doctors, you see...
i cant stand kaye with all her attemtion seeking, shes awful. theres no reason for her to be laughing so much! i think she might be getting on bretts nerves too
You might be too young to remember. At this point Brett, Charles and Kaye were pretty much famous for being on quiz shows. Richard Long was famous for several TV shows like Big Valley and 77 Sunset Strip but he had heart problems, was hospitalized a couple months after this and died a month after that. Richard Dawson had been on Hogan’s Heroes but became more famous for hosting Family Feud and kissing the female contestants. JoAnn Pflug did movies like MASH and actually had her first job on tv on Big Valley with Richard Long.
@@mlbrooks4066 Thanks for the info. But if these people were only 'famous' for doing game show appearances, that hardly means they were 'stars!' Sounds kinda like Zaza Gabor; famous for being famous! LOL
@@illinoisgospelfan650 from Wikipedia: Charles Nelson Reilly (January 13, 1931 - May 25, 2007) was an American actor, comedian, director, and drama teacher known for his comedic roles on stage, film, and television. Very true . A quiet genius
@Creeping Normality actually I didn't like it when Richard told him things. He acted bossy, and he's not the boss. 😊

On an earlier episode it was ruled Necking and Kissing did NOT match because necking involved more than just kissing. But this time they do. The judging was at times not very fair.
The judging largely depended on Ira Skutch's mood.
Ira didn't want to irritate the police officer.
@@deanstrand4260 Stop making your own assumptions!!

@@deanstrand4260 Or maybe she wanted to be closer to the bathroom lol
a rare peek at one of Gene's family!
Wasn't there an episode of The Price Is Right where Bob's mom and brother were in the audience?
Although there wasn't a closeup his mother looked pretty youthful considering gene was in his mid 50s or so
He looks like his mom too

why does necking match kisses here when it didnt on a previous episode?
Ira Skutch, producer & judge.
Perhaps he had advisors that convinced him that the two are the same
Three months after this aired, Richard Long died from a heart attack.
Party pooper
Now that's just sad
Richard was a sharp player at this. I like to think he'd have been invited back if he had not died

Heart failure due to multiple heart attacks actually. He had a bad heart for many years.
