Srimad Bhagwat Gita, 4th chapter, 11th verse. I, i.e. the Truth, i.e. the fundamental law of existence, will respond to you exactly in the way you look at me. And that should be the rule of thumb.
If you want to call yourself a Hindu, be a Hindu, then you will be sanatani in the truest sense of the world.
To be a sanatani, you have to rigorously study your scriptures, and you have to live by them. You have to make Vedanta your life. A sanatani is a protector, not a destroyer.

Rishi's wrote Vedant for all mankind and not just people living in Sindhu region(whom invaders called Hindus). We assume, sanatan Dharm or Vedant should be known by only those people in selected region. Until we have sects like Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Jains, sicks, etc, these things are supposed to happen out of those egos. Either this way or opposite way.
Not just Hindus, but hardwirk is needed to become true Muslim, true Christian, true Buddhist, etc. All the religions in their purest form are the Truth.. We are trying to pure Hinduism, but if other religions remain in impure form, it is of no use in terms of avoiding war, destruction, Ashanti.
And finally all the religions in the purest form are the only Truth. So all religions are same. Humans' ego made those differ.

True, hence dalit could fight war against injustice happening with them. It is true all over the world. Blacks faught against white in great American civil war. Hatred is developed. Like other vruttis, hate is also one of the vruttis. Just like how attachment, attraction is used for protection and continuation of prakruti, hate and anger can be used to develop fighting power against injustice and adharm at personal level and at group level. Also until all the organised religions are cleansed to their pure level, cleansing of only Hindu religion will not help much. Cleansing of all religions means all at least getting knowledge of the Truth.
