@@barbf8628 I have used yarn and thread. At the moment I am working with really thin thread. I have never used perle cotton yet, bet I have heard others use it.
Inkle weaving is warp faced, from what I read, ie., I should see only warp threads. But i seem to seem to have made a "balanced weave". I either see both the warp and the weft colors, OR, at times I see only the weft color - never just the warp color. i even looked on the underside to see if that was only warp color but, sadly, it was still weft color only or a mix of warp and weft color. I am using one warp color, one weft color....to keep it simple for my first try. I am trying to be careful of the edges to get them even. I am using only 6 heddles. I did a continuous warp, and at the end, tied the last thread to the first.
@@barbf8628 sounds like a great find. Any kind of cotton is good. The thickness depends on what you want to make. But for practice all size cottons are good.
Hola Marion. Me encantan tus vídeos y algo puedo entender. Pero sólo un favor si puedes, y es que en tus vídeos no está la opción de subtitular en el idioma deseado a uno, porque no la tienes activa. Así se pueden entender mejor tus videos. Desde España un saludo. Gracias.
i guess im asking the wrong place but does anybody know of a way to get back into an instagram account? I was stupid forgot my account password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me
@Jadiel Abdiel Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Hi Marion, Thank you for this video. We Indian found this idea / methodology of weaving over 7 decades earlier. We still use the same methodology for weaving for temple need.
I use mercerized cotton yarn, 125 meter per 50 gram. For example Schachenmayr Catania, Scheepjes Catona, Camilla ice yarn. With this yarn 79 yarns give a 5 cm / 2 inch wide strap
Bonjour Marion.

When you are finished you cut the weft and weave it in in the previous row. Then you can cut the warp yarns. Espero que la traducción al español sea lo suficientemente buena para entenderlo. Cuando termines cortas la trama y la tejes en la hilera anterior. Luego puedes cortar los hilos de urdimbre.
Why can't you do this for your bag? You don't have to have an inkle loom to weave this band. Do some research on backstrap weaving or weaving without a loom when you simply use clamps on the edge of a table to support the warp. Then you can follow Marion's excellent teaching to do the actual weaving itself.
gorgana5 You can make a smaller band. If you have Facebook you can join the group Inkle weavers. You can also find information here, aspinnerweaver.blogspot.com
Very complete and detailed instructions. I appreciate that. I don't have any cotton but I do have some nice polyester to try with.
@@barbf8628 when yarn is fuzzy/sticky then it is hard to weave with it. When it is smooth like cotton it will probably work.
It just occurred to me that you might be referring to embroidery cotton? Like perle cotton? Not yarn. Yes?

It sounds strange, but making such a small band can be harder than a wider band.
If you see the weft, then you are not pulling the weft hard enough.
What kind of yarn(thread) are you using? The colors are beautiful
I have watched ankle looming videos before and happened upon one at a yard sale $5! Can't wait to start! What is a good string/yarn/thread to use?

Lisa Jarvis I don't know, sorry. Are you a member of the Facebook group, Inkle weaving? I am sure there is someone there that knows the answer.
I didn’t know there was one ~ how do I become a member??

Marion Verloop Its really lovely. Perfect size. Thank you.
Hello Marion, Can the sticks be removed when the weaving work has to be advanced?
Ninny Lar Yes, when you have woven about 10 cm / 4 inch, you can remove them
Can you please explain the purpose of the sticks?
Irene Lennon The sticks make it easier to start with the right width.
It makes it easier to make it straight.
And you have something to beat against.
I was wondering about the popsicle sticks. This should be what I need to improve my bands. Thank you!
Hver can i by the weave???
Linda Enger I have a Schacht inkle loom.
Ashford also has a good loom.
Windhaven also have some nice ones.
