  • I recently purchased a neat collection of 78s from a friend -- thanks Janie! -- and was pleased to find this record. When I was much younger my father passed an identical copy on to my younger siblings, who had a lot of fun with it. They eventually peeled the laminated playing surfaces away from the cardboard center and Mom threw it away. But I do also remember they actually played it on their little phonograph... at 33-1/3. Mr. Kennedy's laughter went from stranger-danger-creepy to terrifyingly maniacal. I think I'll digitize it at that speed for use outside the house this Halloween.
This old 6-3/4 incher was released in the USA as the A-side of #506 by Voco, Inc. in 1946, and is now part of my personal collection. I ripped its contents for my enjoyment and created this video hoping to share it with others who appreciate hard-to-find and obscure recordings. Should the current copyright holders require its removal from this site I will comply.

I got this record and a small record player for Christmas in 1948. I still have the record and the player. We just played this over the internet to our 23 month old grand daughter. She loved it so much, now she wants us to play it again to her.

This was a favorite of mine as a kid in the late '50s and early '60s. The laughter didn't sound so creepy back in the day. I have our family's original copy that still plays well and still has the laminate on it. I just purchased a Victrola and played this last night for my granddaughters, the first time I'd listened to it "live" in probably 50 years or so! It still cracks me up listening to it! Thanks for posting this.

I had this and mine was red plastic. Who is singing? I had a player that only played 45s but his is a 78 I think. My Goodness, not as much fun as when I was a kid
