hey idk if anyone noticed this but they both have 'birds' representing them in their namecards, peacock for kaeya and a phoenix for diluc. I think that ties it all up together
Not sure if this is related, but peacocks are usually much more showy and “flashy” which is sorta similar to Kaeya while phoenixes are usually more secluded and keep to themselves- like Diluc.
My favourite part of this is that both Kaeya and Diluc can read as either bird. But more than that it’s almost like they switch roles midway. At first Kaeya is the bird trying to fly away, trying to escape his past life and desperately trying to believe in his new life and family. He knows the risks but still has faith in it. Meanwhile, Diluc is the bird in the wire, sitting on a fragile line between his “lie” of a happy life and his destruction. He is so content with the happiness on the wire and watching Kaeya that he doesn’t realize how easily his own situation could go wrong. But after Crepus’ death and Diluc betrays their promise to stay together, Kaeya is overrun by his guilt and he becomes the bird on the wire, the one who lies about being able to be free. He makes himself the villain, the one who stays behind and embraces the danger of the wire, so that Diluc can finally be free from it

i think the word "betrayed" their promise is a little strong. Diluc felt - rightfully - betrayed. I doubt he knows the full story, and even if he did, it doesn't change the facts nor his first feelings about it. I'm pretty sure we would all have been very angered at his place -- heck, I am a pretty passive person but I would have probably yelled if I was in his shoes. So yeah, the world is terrible and everybody suffers from it, but I don't think we can blame Diluc here. Nor Kaeya actually, he was just a kid back then.
Holy shit this entire this is gorgeous, the colors, the atmosphere all of it wow. That shell shattering metaphor, that way too long pause on Crepus's grave, and that final slap in the face with the "he's just a liar" and kaeya's eye like wow. (also diluc being in light in that final bit and kaeya in shadow wow there is just so much to love about this). So yes this is amazing
This is so interesting and it suits them so well. At the beginning Diluc being the "open" "Bold" and "welcoming" bird, accepting Kaeya and making him feel loved and along the way Kaeya grew this attachment to his new family members and you can see he proudly he looks up to his brother. But at the end Diluc was the one who ended up being closed off and Kaeya became the one who reaches out to Diluc every chance he gets. How the roles have reversed but i doubt the warmth Diluc made Kaeya feel when they first met and the love Kaeya felt disappeared just like that. They just need a good excuse to hug these problems away and genshin better make sure to give them one soon.

0:56 I really like this shot. His smile and eyepatch are all in the light, but his uncovered (Khaenri’ahn) eye is in the shadows. It’s a nice touch and you can have a multitude of theories about what it means or what he’s thinking
Wow, this helped me realise these lyrics esp that "one more or one less, nobody's worried" one more or one less (bird in the sky admist storms) / good person in the world 'wouldn't get noticed' But other than that wow, the composition and colour pallete realy tells the story wonderfully. Man this just adds to my love for kaeya. (Apart from obvious reasons) he’s my favourite character because he just overall deserved better. He abandoned as a child, taken in, just to have his father stripped away from him again, and the person he called brother turn his back against he. He doesn’t really have anyone there for him. Even though he denies it in his voicelines, he’s a lonely man lmao and I can only imagine what that would do to someone

I have always been very attached to my siblings and learning Diluc and Kaeya's relationship in the game is really saddening but this animatic really make me feel like I want to be a baby as a reason to start crying.
ngl i think that the line "but one is never going to leave that wire" is interesting because i don't think either of them, no matter how strained their relationship is, are ever going to leave each other. rather, they're both dancing around each other because they think the other is going to finally leave them after all of this time. because no matter what they go through, they're really the only 'family' they have left and they're both too stubborn to admit it

Seeing them as kids totally broke me, they look so carefree T-T Your art style is so pretty and on top of that your animatics are so polished and well colored??? I can't talk about how much this breaks my heart so I'll just compliment how beautifully this was made. Every frame was coloured and drawn so beautifully that I had to rewatch it several times just to appreciate it properly. They looked so pure and full of happiness as children, the change from 1:00 to 1:02 was so heartbreaking :(
The pheonix and the peacock, both are majestic birds, however only one knows how to soar, the other destined to start grounded despite it's glamorous disguise.

had to pause at 0:35 because i was already sobbing, this is really beautiful 😭 i really like the scenes you chose for each line, really made them all the more heartbreaking also i just read gracec8c's comment about the shadows and i just noticed, it happens during the whole video: kaeya goes from full shadows into light, then he gets bits of shadows here and there but he's back into shadows after the fight, with him being outside fully in the darkness with light coming out from inside the winery at 1:30; he gets bits of light at some points, but at the end he's still mostly in the shadows. then with diluc he's mostly in the light but then goes into shadows when his dad dies and with the fight. THIS PART THO at 1:47 he's technically in the light but he's facing the shadows and then in 1:50 he's technically in the shadows but he's facing the light, i really liked that KSKD; and then gets back into the light at the end also the contrast(? is that the word??) of the shadows depending on the situation, like there are shadows when they're knights and during the ceremony but they feel softer and more natural, but at points like 1:18-1:27 and at 1:47-1:50 the lights feel harsher and the shadows feel heavier; the contrast between the direct light of the sun and the shadows on his hand at 0:41 and on them at 0:59 IMMMMMMM im gonna shut up now haha but i really liked it, fantastic work ;>;

After knowing their two backstory, I teared up on the summer Island story. Like the Conch conversation that they have is really heart warming. It was like they already kinda patch it up with one and another on that day. Like the way they reminiscing the past after all that they went through.
I finally had a higher friendship level with kaeya and when I read the story of how he got his vision is so sad but in a way I feel like I relate in a way. Yelling in a battle against someone you loved dearly once but now the connection severed.

This song breaks my heart to pieces, but how it made me think about their relationship. It's like this song has several meanings at once. I don't know which one the animator put in, but nevertheless I'll go from first impressions to more "headcanon" impressions. First, you put their well-known tragedy into these wires. Crepus' death affected both Kaeya and Diluc, even if not equally. Kaeya asks to "fly off the wire," that is, to finally let go of this pain, to which Diluc continually responds by "lying." He stays on that wire, unable both to forgive Kaeya and to "let go of his hand" at the same time. And Alberich keeps holding it and standing still, as he does. Now in these wires you see Kaeya's "sin of guilt." The "birds" switch places. Now Diluc tries everything to fly away from Kaeya, who says he is tired and keeps lying to him, hiding it behind his usual mask. But Rangwindr does not fly away, but waits for him, though he does not show it. He still considers him family, and he cares if "one bird will be less." But Alberich still can't make up his mind to talk to him, "staying on the wire." And now you put the "past" in those wires. Both Kaeya and Diluc have their own tragedy that keeps them on that line. Both birds lie, though they pretend in turn to want to fly away. Both birds are tired of staying on this wire line. And both birds are holding each other's hands, hoping to fly away from it together. I believe there's nothing I can add that hasn't already been said in this comment section, but I just have to tell you I am in awe. The coloring and the style may look simple, but it's beautiful and conveys so much emotion! The way you use lights is breathtaking and gave both characters and background so much personality. And about the animatic itself; you have pictured the brothers the exact way I imagined them. This song fits their relationship way too well, and I am happy to see a work like this putting the concepts into action! Not to mention, this entire video made my heartache in all the ways it possibly could, but oh boy, who doesn't love good, heart-breaking family angst? I love both Diluc and Kaeya so much, I can't thank you enough for sharing this beautiful work of your art

Part of the reason why I believe Kaeya is the better sibling is because he literally got abandoned by his dad and betrayed by his stepbrother. I don't know this game or the characters or anything but this has me just about crying. This is beautifully done, the artwork is exquisite and I was able to understand them and their story without knowing anything about them previously. Amazing work.
One of the thing I hate the most of the fandom (excluding the whole fight over whether this ship is incest or not which fun fact isn't because they forget the game isn't American but Chinese, of course everyone is still free to see them how they want, however it doesn't matter) is how the Fandom say they hate each other and Diluc literally wants Kaeya dead or how they both want each other death, it's the biggest lie ever. Even before Razor parents event it was obvious they still cared about each other, or at least Diluc does. We don't really know about Kaeya, we can only assume he's pretending he doesn't care or miss him and he does talk "bad" of Diluc. While he never say anything good of what he currently think of Diluc he also doesn't say anything bad about him, he just keeps it neutral. Diluc instead might be a bit more aggressive with his approach but it's the small unsaid things that make obvious how he still care a for Kaeya, like the vase at his house. Everyone think it's ugly/weird and it doesn't fit the place at all but Diluc still keep it, that's because it's from Kaeya. Diluc is most of the time a gentleman but we all know that if he really hated Kaeya he wouldn't be afraid to be even more mean with him and to throw away the vase. He's a gentleman yes but he's not afraid to say what he wants to say or be polite when really angry.
I would describe their relationships as strained but civil. They may not get along in a traditional sense but definitely don't hate each other. If they did, they strike me as indivduals who would express that by actively avoiding each other as much as possible, but that's not the case. The fact that Paimon explicitly questions if they hate or like each other is pretty tall-tell sign, imo that their relationship isn't likely as bad as some think. Kaeya's old letter to Diluc in his Hidden Strife event further supports that. Ultimately, they have their differences, but they still have each others back.

Knowing kaeya’s backstory in particular is probably gonna be a massive plot point in the game later on is honestly one of the only things keeping me playing. I can't talk about how much this breaks my heart so I'll just compliment how beautifully this was made. Every frame was coloured and drawn so beautifully that I had to rewatch it several times just to appreciate it properly. They looked so pure and full of happiness as children, the change from 1:00 to 1:02 was so heartbreaking :(
The pheonix and the peacock, both are majestic birds, however only one knows how to soar, the other destined to start grounded despite it's glamorous disguise.

Oh my oh my, this is beautiful, definitely one of, if not the best Two Birds animatics in this fandom! Absolutely gorgeous, the song suits these two so well, and the storyboarding is superb, I also especially love your art style, gives it sort of a fairy-tale/old fable kinda feel. Beautifully done.

had to pause at 0:35 because i was already sobbing, this is really beautiful 😭 i really like the scenes you chose for each line, really made them all the more heartbreaking
also i just read gracec8c's comment about the shadows and i just noticed, it happens during the whole video: kaeya goes from full shadows into light, then he gets bits of shadows here and there but he's back into shadows after the fight, with him being outside fully in the darkness with light coming out from inside the winery at 1:30; he gets bits of light at some points, but at the end he's still mostly in the shadows.
then with diluc he's mostly in the light but then goes into shadows when his dad dies and with the fight. THIS PART THO at 1:47 he's technically in the light but he's facing the shadows and then in 1:50 he's technically in the shadows but he's facing the light, i really liked that KSKD; and then gets back into the light at the end
also the contrast(? is that the word??) of the shadows depending on the situation, like there are shadows when they're knights and during the ceremony but they feel softer and more natural, but at points like 1:18-1:27 and at 1:47-1:50 the lights feel harsher and the shadows feel heavier; the contrast between the direct light of the sun and the shadows on his hand at 0:41 and on them at 0:59 IMMMMMMM im gonna shut up now haha but i really liked it, fantastic work ;>;
I knew I was gonna cry at this but omfg, I got so sentimental. The art, the timing of the song, everything... it was an emotional rollercoaster. I love Kaeya and Diluc so much, they're my genshin comfort characters. I hope someday Mihoyo gives us the recognition they deserve on the story, they really need to apologize.

The fact that you redrew all their complicated outfits over and over is totally amazing and just goes to show how much work you put into this! Completely amazing.
After knowing their two backstory, I teared up on the summer Island story. Like the Conch conversation that they have is really heart warming. It was like they already kinda patch it up with one and another on that day. Like the way they reminiscing the past after all that they went through.

I finally had a higher friendship level with kaeya and when I read the story of how he got his vision is so sad but in a way I feel like I relate in a way. Yelling in a battle against someone you loved dearly once but now the connection severed.

This song breaks my heart to pieces, but how it made me think about their relationship.
It's like this song has several meanings at once. I don't know which one the animator put in, but nevertheless I'll go from first impressions to more "headcanon" impressions.
First, you put their well-known tragedy into these wires. Crepus' death affected both Kaeya and Diluc, even if not equally. Kaeya asks to "fly off the wire," that is, to finally let go of this pain, to which Diluc continually responds by "lying." He stays on that wire, unable both to forgive Kaeya and to "let go of his hand" at the same time. And Alberich keeps holding it and standing still, as he does.
Now in these wires you see Kaeya's "sin of guilt." The "birds" switch places. Now Diluc tries everything to fly away from Kaeya, who says he is tired and keeps lying to him, hiding it behind his usual mask. But Rangwindr does not fly away, but waits for him, though he does not show it. He still considers him family, and he cares if "one bird will be less." But Alberich still can't make up his mind to talk to him, "staying on the wire."
And now you put the "past" in those wires. Both Kaeya and Diluc have their own tragedy that keeps them on that line.
Both birds lie, though they pretend in turn to want to fly away.
Both birds are tired of staying on this wire line.
And both birds are holding each other's hands, hoping to fly away from it together.

Он остаётся на этом проводе, не в силах и простить Кейю, и "отпустить его руку" одновремено. А Альберич все продолжает держать его и стоять на месте, как и он.
Теперь в этих проводах ты видишь "грех вины" Кейи. "Птицы" меняются местами. Теперь Дилюк пытается все улететь от Кейи, который говорит, что устал и продолжает лгать ему, скрывая это за своей привычной маской. Но Рангвиндр не улетает, а ждет его, хоть и не показывает этого. Он все ещё считает его семьёй и ему не все равно, если "одной птицей будет меньше". Но Альберич все не может решиться и поговорить с ним, "оставаясь на проводах".
И теперь ты вкладываешь в эти провода "прошлое". И Кейя, и Дилюк имеют свою трагедию, которая держит их на этой линии.
Обе птицы лгут, хоть и делают вид поочерёдно, что хотят улететь.
Обе птицы устали оставаться на этой линии проводов.

The composition of every single scene and illustration is absolutely stunning and the emotions you've captured are so painful for both Kaeya and Diluc, I can see both of their relentless turmoils and it's done so effortlessly. I especially love the montage sequences you created and the one illustration of Kaeya looking up at Diluc being knighted as a captain with nothing but adoration and pride for his brother. This whole thing just scratches my brain just right and I love it so much.

I believe there's nothing I can add that hasn't already been said in this comment section, but I just have to tell you I am in awe. The coloring and the style may look simple, but it's beautiful and conveys so much emotion! The way you use lights is breathtaking and gave both characters and background so much personality.
And about the animatic itself; you have pictured the brothers the exact way I imagined them. This song fits their relationship way too well, and I am happy to see a work like this putting the concepts into action!

Part of the reason why I believe Kaeya is the better sibling is because he literally got abandoned by his dad and betrayed by his stepbrother. One of the thing I hate the most of the fandom (excluding the whole fight over whether this ship is incest or not which fun fact isn't because they forget the game isn't American but Chinese, of course everyone is still free to see them how they want, however it doesn't matter) is how the Fandom say they hate each other and Diluc literally wants Kaeya dead or how they both want each other death, it's the biggest lie ever.
Even before Razor parents event it was obvious they still cared about each other, or at least Diluc does.
We don't really know about Kaeya, we can only assume he's pretending he doesn't care or miss him and he does talk "bad" of Diluc.
While he never say anything good of what he currently think of Diluc he also doesn't say anything bad about him, he just keeps it neutral.
Diluc instead might be a bit more aggressive with his approach but it's the small unsaid things that make obvious how he still care a for Kaeya, like the vase at his house.
Everyone think it's ugly/weird and it doesn't fit the place at all but Diluc still keep it, that's because it's from Kaeya.
Diluc is most of the time a gentleman but we all know that if he really hated Kaeya he wouldn't be afraid to be even more mean with him and to throw away the vase.
He's a gentleman yes but he's not afraid to say what he wants to say or be polite when really angry.
I would describe their relationships as strained but civil. They may not get along in a traditional sense but definitely don't hate each other. If they did, they strike me as indivduals who would express that by actively avoiding each other as much as possible, but that's not the case. The fact that Paimon explicitly questions if they hate or like each other is pretty tall-tell sign, imo that their relationship isn't likely as bad as some think. Kaeya's old letter to Diluc in his Hidden Strife event further supports that. Ultimately, they have their differences, but they still have each others back.

God i love kaeya (and diluc,, i guess… /j) so much. Knowing kaeya’s backstory in particular is probably gonna be a massive plot point in the game later on is honestly one of the only things keeping me playing.
