Great sound from this band. At the time in the late 80s, Radio 1 were more interested in promoting cheesy, mundane and talentless pop pap from Stock, Aitken & Waterman. Bands like Love & Money, The Blue Nile, The Adventures and Goodbye Mr McKenzie never got the chance they deserved. Thankfully they won't be forgotten with You Tube.
Wonderful tune. I have heard it now after so many years. They did have that kind of groove like Tearsforfears, in fact I thought this was from TFF. Great band to discover again in these days of empty songs.
Came here because Barry Gibb highly recommended it in a Bee Gees interview back in 1989 in France! I didn't know anything about this cool song or the band until now.
@@nicholascarlozzi1881 the song was written by john grant and not jeff porcaro so the main credit goes to whoever had the musical idea and not to whoever plays the groove..if john robinson had been on drums the song would have been successful anyway..gary katz produced the group and put Porcaro into it because they were friends..let's stop raising Porcaro more than he was because it's not like that...before him and during his career there were drummers as good as him and even more..as he himself admits in his interviews there are dozens and dozens of musical examples and genres where many other drummers have played perhaps even more beautiful things than Porcaro..he was certainly a great accompanist without a doubt..in the period in which he worked..
This is such a great song, I had no idea Jeff Porcaro, my all time fave drummer, played on this. The songs message is clear to me - Don't take no crap, question authority, stand up for yourself. The music is so goddamn smooth, it sounds Steely Dan-ish (did Gary Katz produce this? Is Walter Becker playing on this?), but cleverly, it's smoothness makes you forget that this is true punk rock and roll. It just makes it easier to swallow. Another example is Edwyn Collins Girl Like You from 1994 I believe, and it's greatest lyric : Too Many Protest Singers/Not Enough Protest Songs. If that isn't a call to arms, I don't know what is.
Jai retrouvé cette chanson sur google recherche de chanson après des années de recherche ! Je l'écoutais vers 14 ans j'en ai 45 maintenant et je n'ai su le titre ni le chanteur et en fredonnant sur google j'ai enfin trouvé. Trop contente!

Great song, great band and when they used to play "The Tartan Hour" on the local radio station, this was a staple of the Scottish tracks that they showcased. I always loved that line about dreams...very cool and prophetic line..
