I needed this. I’m 2+ years into poling and I stopped because I wasn’t able to get my invert and I still haven’t been able to get back to it in the same way. I needed to hear this.

And this is exactly why I continue to repeat this! Our bodies are all different but different doesn't make them any less amazing or beautiful!

It took me 5 mos to invert - going from 0 upper body strength, starting with just 1 class a week to training 3-4x a week in class and at home. And it's not even a super clean invert yet (also have an archy lower back like you mentioned). It takes WORK, man! To anyone reading - don't get discouraged! You'll get there! Keep conditioning and take rest days. You'll do it in time :)

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your story! Inverting after only 5 months is AMAZING! Congrats on all your progress!

Wow you mentioned hypermobile people find a standard invert more difficult and I suddenly felt seen....I've been struggling w my standard and aerial invert for a long time now and it is frustrating not being able to get it down

You are NOT alone!!! Don't let that standard invert hold you back! So many beautiful and amazing ways for you to get into an inverted position. You got this!!!!

Is this why I’m still struggling? 🤯 wow.

I watched this video months back and it made me feel so much better about myself. I stopped being too hard on myself and respecting where my body is at. Now I can invert, but still struggling to deadlift and hold final position in the chopper. It's a process!

That makes me soooo happy to hear! Congrats on your invert but even more so I'm so happy about your shift in how you think of yourself as a poler and the process. It all comes in time and not in the same time or order for everyone, but that doesn't make you any less of an amazing poler!
If you have not done so already, I’d love to have you join my EBFit private Facebook group and share your videos there for celebration, feedback and pointers. Make sure you answer the FB group questions so I know you are a fellow poler 😉

So sorry to hear of your injury but so glad that this tutorial was helpful for you. I know how discouraging it can be when we are in the process of healing from an injury. Definitely nice to have other options while we let our bodies heal.

Omg you mentioned Lordosis….I’ve been struggling with doing a deadlift invert. One year of poling with no success, wondering if it’s my spine that’s hindering me. Not only am I hypermobile, but also have lordosis and scoliosis lol. Thank you for addressing this!

I have been struggling with lordosis too, mostly lower back pain. What helped me was seeing a physio who understands the physiology and mechanics of pole dancing, and that is helping me strengthening my core muscles with appropriate progressions. If you can try to talk to a trusted and knowledgable physio in your area.

@@aliaghobash88 is it tied to pole and one leg through?

Deadlifts, shoulder mount, inverts, they all are more challenging for those with a bendy lower back because of the increased range of motion. Don't give up on your deadlift! It'll come with consistency over time and don't be discouraged when others get theirs before you. Your bendy back is beautiful, it just takes time to tame the beast!

Thank you! I can do a lot of advanced tricks but I can't do the standard invert easily, maybe is bc my hips are super flexi and open, I also struggke with the inside leg hand bc of my hips, they just open too much.

You're so welcome! I know it can be so frustrating but you are not alone. Having 'too much' flexibility can make some things so much more challenging. But one of the awesome things about pole is that there are so many variations and different ways of doing things!

Thank you so much for all the variations 💕 but also for all the love you 😍 put in explaining everything. I have my invert but it’s not consistent and it’s still a work in progress. I was the last to invert in my class 😂 thank you for the options 🤗
