I'm with you Sikes. Carlos may have a retrospective bias. Talking about the absolute bests...no matter how phenomenal a player was... It can't be for just a few years or only within their discipline, but all games w $$ in them. Efren: All rotation games, 1P, 3c, Balkline (so good he was 86'd!!) and a 10 $$ player. Alex: All rotation games, 1P, snooker, 14.1...and absolutely for cash. SVB: May not be a Pinoy or old-timer...but he is unquestionable a living legend. And-yes, Nick had that kind of lifelong, interdisciplinary performance including for cash. Strickland's talent is undisputed but better suited to rotation games. Mosconi too was a specialist. It's somewhat not fair to them bc that was their era. But sorry.
@@trumanhw Earl and Archer could only play 9 ball, a very wise man told me over 25 years ago that I needed to learn how to play one pocket, I sure wish I listened to him
What a terrible call on that foul on Nick. He was in absolute perfect stroke when he called that and was nowhere near fouling! Hope that ref was fired.
He's some Kraut idiot who's ultra-rule following I'd almost guarantee. Look at that blonde hair of "the master race." He'd do great with Ukrainska's Galician divisions.
Varner was always the best when he was on and u can learn a lot from watching him play, the safety king. I always knew if Varner wasn't jumping up after he shoots, he's hard to beat but if he starts to jump, u can beat him. I would have told the Ref he needs some more glasses because I didn't touch the ball, I've played at the highest level u can play and if I touched it, I would have no problem. Ant noway he would foul me a I know I didn't touch it. What if that was a tie breaker, u mean 2 tell me, u can't challenge the reff because the camera doesn't lie. I hope the rules have changed and u can have it reviewed by the reff who called it and u can say I want it looked at and see where u said I touched it. I mean u can have a reff call anything and he's not even being held responsible for being wrong. I bet after this one Varner will go to someone who can have the reff put out and he should never be able 2 call fake fouls, he can barely see as it is but I would have never let it go as easy as he did, that's BS and everyone sees he didn't touch the ball, even the reff saw the replay. U mean he can't tell me he's sorry about that call because he knows he robbed Varner and that could break a players will to win because Varner had that easy and a reff takes it away but I would have lost it when he fouled me 2 times, he's playing with the game now, it has to be a rule change by now. They better be glad that's not Earl, I bet he would have broke his pool stick but he never needs to call a game. He's doing a good job of making it hard on Varner and I would never wear what Varner is wearing, I know he nervous now because he is having a war with 2 people, the player and the reff. What's the head man being called and he's not even letting him know, can I at least see where I touched it. If it works in the NFL AND every other sport, u have 2 make away for a player to challenge a call, he was the best in the world at the time and believe me, they don't foul when everything is on the line. I know what Varner was thinking, I've got to call some over this reff or he's going 2 give Archer the damn game and it has to stop now but if he doesn't do that, that Reffs going to keep doing it, Varner should be 2 games ahead and he's been robbed. That's why they want show nobody. Brings u back to when the NFL would mess a call up and u see the replay and it was a td and nobody could change it but it was changed because a reff is human and he can help another player or team, it's been so long, hopefully they do have it where u can challenge the reff and if ur wrong then u can see but nobody sees him foul but one person can, Earl really would have lost it after this one and the whole crowd would have known what was coming
Varner doesn't get the recognition he so much deserves, Easily on the Mount Rushmore of Pool
Mosconi, Reyes, Strickland, harold worst.
I don't think Varner is close. Great player but top four of all time? No way

Nicely Played Nick.... 👍💪💯😊

I remember watching this match on tv!
Nick is a gentleman and he is awesome
Johhny archer looks like david byrne from the Talking Heads in that suit😂
Nick Varner is a real human. Real humans are great!
Johnny just wasn't seasoned enough at this point. But he sure is now.
..wow what a call this doofus made. Nick was a couple of inches clear of the nine. Kinda makes you wonder....smh

love the beechnut comment lol 35:13
Billy won the 9 ball championship??? VIDEO!!!
Billy never beat anybody, fact
Johnny should have went for the 4 rail bank on the 9 in the first rack...
OMG another foul on Nick?! One hundred percent was not a foul!!
Hopefully that ref was fired directly after this match and never did another match ever again
32:55 he absolutely did NOT foul the 4.
Yea this ref is pretty bad
Watch the path of the 4 before the hit of the cue.... it was absolutely going to the rail.
But it makes up for that really BAD call on the 9 ball...!
Tell me that ref doesn't look like a rule-following german to you.
BAD CALLS. 😮 NO FOWLS
I stopped watching this match after the horrific call by the ref. Too pissed off to enjoy the match now.
That's some terrible lighting.
