    Fucking love this album. The production is maybe the best Ace has had since 78 or at least Frehleys Comet. I cannot believe how melodic it is. It goes in such unexpected directions while still being completely true to who he is. This is the record he needed to make and the record we deserve. I don't know if I can narrow it down right now but what I can say is that Cosmic Heart and Up In The Sky surprised the absolute fuck out of me. Did not expect them to be what they are at all and I cannot stop replaying them. I hope everybody else out there is as happy as I am that it's 2024, Ace Frehley is in his 70's and we are all here talking about a new album he put out for us. There is so much to be happy about and celebrate. Steve Brown was the missing link and I am all in on this duo. I hope they get back in the studio fast. I seriously want the Ace Frehley/ Steve Brown trilogy box set. I'm all in lol. I hope haters can keep the negative comments to themselves and find something to be happy about from this great release. All expectations weren't met, but far exceeded

    So. I haven’t heard the entire album yet, just the first three singles. While the lyrics seem to be somewhat sophomoric, the production is off the chain! The guitars sound absolutely huge. Ace, never really being a singer, seems to have found his niche in a sort of Hendrix ish delivery. Walking on the Moon is a song I can’t get out of my head, it just has a very infectious groove, and it’s catchy! I can’t get past it to really listen to Cherry Medicine just yet, I keep circling back to it. Love that tune. It may take me awhile to get through the entire album because it looks like as the enchantment of one tune starts to fade I might be able to listen to the others and have another groove take it’s place. So far however, this feels like Ace’s best work in a long time.

    You can tell that many of the choruses were written by Steve Brown. Because of this some songs like Cherry Medicine sound like two completely different songs put together. It's kind of sad really. It picks up around track 6 where the songs start sounding more like Ace and less like Steve. Ace is melodic enough. He doesn't require sounding like Trixter to make a good record. However I do applaud him for knocking it out of the park and making a great rock album regardless of who wrote the songs.

      A very fair assessment! Im personally not huge on Trixter and Im curious if there are any ties between that material and the stuff Steve wrote for this album

    I was not blown away. I think there are some good rifs, and there are some good moments but I didn't think any song on this album was the total package, there would be points where I would think " this isn't bad" but the song would then become boring and generic. I just don't think it lived up to the hype, wasn't terrible but to me it wasn't great ,

    I haven't listened to much of Aces solo work but I can't imagine any of them being as good as this new album. With that said I'll go back and listen to most of his solo work. I'll tell you this much, few if any, can write as strong of a hook with excellent metaphors in verses than Ace Does!!! He's one of the greatest in the industry and appears to be getting better with time which is extremely rare. Appreciate the review and can't wait to hear the new CD

  • @KISStributeNYC97
    @KISStributeNYC97 7 місяців тому +7

    I really dig this record. There are so many moments on this record that just remind you of what we liked about an Ace Frehley song to begin with. “Fightin’ For Life” is one of them. Those verses sung are vintage Ace. I think technology on his voice HAD to be used to get this record completed, and that’s fine with me. The guy is 72 years old! I’m just happy to have new music from him. He could easily rest on his and the KISS catalog and be done with it. But he isn’t, and that’s what makes moments like “Cherry Medicine ” so cool to hear. He’s working….still being creative….for us, (and maybe to prove something to a few “other people”) and that’s amazing to me. I think he and Steve Brown delivered the goods here.
    Go buy this record. Don’t just look for streaming versions, or rips on UA-cam. The music has value. Support Ace.
    Great video!

Will obviously give it a few more spins. We all have high expectations like we're gonna get another Shock Me or Rocket Ride but we won't. Those days are over but it is a very enjoyable album. First side should've been the catchy sing along songs and side two straight hard rock. Not as good as Anomaly and Space Invader.

    Am I the only person on earth who finds the album not that good? I think the grooves are too cheezy, the lyrics that are all juvenile and lazy, and in many cases considering the age of the singer, disgusting. Or, just outright stupid. The lyrics sound like they were written by a 10-year old. Read them without the music playing to really demonstrate this. But mostly it's just the feel of most of the songs that doesn't do it for me. And it sounds like 90's alternative. And it lacks any kind of balls. Like.... it's like lady rock, or really old man rock. It's very obvious that a suptuagenarian is behind it, and that is just not appealing to my music sensibilities. I'm happy for him that he's still working and enjoying life, it's just that I can't imagine ever thinking "man, I wanna hear walkin on the moon again!" Or cherry medicine, or any of the other weak songs I heard. And I've been hearing the phrase "grow on you" thrown around a little with this album. "Cherry medicine grew on me, or you gotta give it a chance to grow on you." No. I don't make time to listen to songs until they grow on me. It should cause me to WANT to hear it again in the first place. Bottom line. With each of the 5 songs I heard, my thought were:
    1 can't get behind this.
    2 no desire to hear it again.
    3 what's up with these lyrics? Who the hell wants to hear about how attracted a 70+ year-old man is to some woman in black leather, and the brainless, infantile poetry he wrote about her? My god, the lyrics. That's the most egregious offense by far.
