Should You Be Taking Peptides?

  • Peptides are short chains of amino acids linked by peptide bonds, serving as essential components for various biological functions. They are smaller than proteins, making them crucial for numerous physiological processes, including signaling, immune responses, and cell signaling.
    BPC-157 is a synthetic peptide that consists of 15 amino acids. It is a partial sequence of body protection compound (BPC) that can be found in human gastric juice. BPC-157 is known for its remarkable healing properties, including the ability to accelerate the healing of many different wounds and injuries. It has been extensively studied for its efficacy in healing tendons, muscles, nervous system injuries, and even the gastrointestinal tract, with a strong safety profile in research settings.
    Ipamorelin and CJC-1295 are growth hormone-releasing peptides (GHRPs) that stimulate the pituitary gland to release growth hormone (GH). They are often used together to synergistically increase GH levels in the body, which can lead to benefits such as improved muscle growth, fat loss, and recovery times. Ipamorelin is known for its specificity, targeting only GH release without affecting other hormones, while CJC-1295 is a long-acting GHRH (growth hormone-releasing hormone) analog that enhances GH release duration.
    Semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes and obesity. It mimics the action of GLP-1, a hormone involved in appetite regulation and insulin secretion. By activating GLP-1 receptors, semaglutide increases insulin release in response to high blood sugar levels, decreases glucagon secretion, and promotes satiety, leading to reduced calorie intake and weight loss. Semaglutide has shown significant efficacy in improving glycemic control and reducing body weight, making it a valuable tool in managing type 2 diabetes and obesity.
    Each of these peptides demonstrates the diverse therapeutic potential of peptide-based treatments, highlighting their importance in current and future medical research and applications.

      No Problem at all with that, However, I do think you should leave a disclaimer that BPC-157 is not approved by most major health regulators and has not been through any proper trials yet. Its safety and efficacy profiles come from rats and the only major human trial failed to show efficacy. They are also on the WADA and IOC banned lists so the recommendation to athletes needs a disclaimer imo. All in all, im all for education just think theres additional value in providing that context could help others understand the reasons some of these are not common

    I was married to a water quality specialist for 14 years and worked as an Engineer in healthcare. Measuring TDS in water is no indication if the water is healthy or not. In all major Australian cities the water is completely safe to drink and filtering it can actually remove minerals that are beneficial. TDS = Total Dissolved Solids. It gives no indication of what those solids are. TDS is useful for maintenance of certain equipment like autoclaves and other devices that heat/treat water as it can shorten their lifespan or degrade performance. If you are using a water filter for taste you can get an under-the-sink kit that you can easily fit yourself from Bunnings for under $150.

    • @mctrials23
      @mctrials23 6 місяців тому +7

      Yep. I have an RO system to filter water to use in a high end coffee machine and you need to be a little careful about remineralising it to some extent or the lack of minerals actually damages metals. Doesn't do the body any good either. As you say, you need minerals. My RO machine puts the water at about 20 TDS and our tap water is something like 260 TDS. I drink the tap water. TDS doesn't equal quality of water, just the mineral content and minerals are generally good for you.

      Yeah, we measure TDS in our fishing lakes but it's only relevant if you can use other data to work out what those solids are. If the pH is high you can be reasonably sure those solids are your alkaline metals such as calcium which is generally beneficial so a relatively high TDS would be good, if however that same TDS quantity was based on the amount of dissolved lead or arsenic then it's very, very bad.

    2016 (I was 27 years old) I had tendinitis in my right elbow, pain was coming from the brachioradialis predominately. I was working with a PT here in Canada. I did a lot of strength and hypertrophy exercises around 5 days a week. Now, I did not have it as bad as yours it seems (that sounded gnarly!) but after 4 weeks working with the PT I had basically no improvement. I started with BPC-157 twice a day injected subq into the forearm itself. After another 4 weeks I was back to 100%. Much like you've said, there was no control..it's totally anecdotal but to me it seemed to work. ymmv of course but that's my .02 running the peptide personally. Thanks for the video!

    Thank you James for the insides ...the only thing I'm missing and where Huberman's to Rogan's etc don't want to get their feet wet... is the fact of how to get all those peptides allowed for human intake. In general what is available out there (99%) is for research purpose only and declared: "NOT suitable for human intake".
    I do understand that by law for most proponents of peptide therapies or supplementation are forced to declare so. Nonetheless it'll help to clarify this more in depth.
    Otherwise all conversations about this subject are completely useless because it forces people to buy from doubtful resources without knowing the actual risks. Which have nothing to do with the peptide itself. To understand the origin, producers and delivery form would help great deal.
    At the end of the day when I go to a pharmacy to buy some headache pill I do not even read what's on the label knowing though that there might be potential side effects.
    Funny though, we trust it blindly because we bought it in a public pharmacy 💁🏻‍♂

    I started again after 3 or so months off and BOOM… felt amazing within a week again, better sleep, energy, recovery. It works even better after about 3 months of use.
    Caveat. I am 42 now, so obviously my HGH levels will be significantly lower than that of a someone on their 20s and early 30s, and so the difference will be considerably more dramatic.

    While I'm all for peptides for the positive health benefits, I wouldn't suggest a professional athlete taking them (even though I think they definitely should look at recovery peptides for physical longevity), especially considering that a lot of them are banned by WADA, and by extension Sport Integrity Australia (ASADA).
    If their sporting organisation is subject to WADA/SIA regulations, it could mean that they end up getting banned from their sport for using one or more that's on the banned list.

      For something that I only use for a severe injury, it’s worth the $120ish.

      Cjc-1295 (DAC) 'bleeds' the HGH as it has a long half life, this isn't good for your pituitary gland long term although short term you'll get good return. MOD GRF 1-29 (also known as Cjc-1295 no dac) gives a spike in release which mimics your bodies natural release. Paired with Ipamorelin its a good combination with minimal side effects if following the regular cycle periods, 5 days on 2 days off for 3 months on 1 month off. It does need more studies though to establish a full pros/cons list that other long standing drugs have. I'd personally stay away from Cjc-1295 and GHRP-6 as well as a few others.

    You mentioned that BPC might be worth looking at if you're a professional athlete looking to recover from injury... worth noting that BPC is banned by WADA, so if you're a professional athlete, worth checking what the doping rules applied in your sport are...
    Also, BPC-157, 100% works. I had terrible bicep tendonitis in my left shoulder and chronic bursitis in my right shoulder, I couldn't even get my arms overhead and physio alone wasn't doing the job, 12 weeks on BPC and I was back to benching 110kg, overhead pressing 85kg, etc, etc. I've recently had a return of the bursitis and started a new BPC cycle 3 days ago, I fully expect results within 5 weeks.

    • @blinny88
      @blinny88 6 місяців тому +1

      @@BrandonAPG I did 12 weeks on just BPC, TB500 was too expensive for me at the time. That was over a year ago, the bursitis returned about a week ago after having taking 4 weeks off the gym because of a hand surgery. I work a desk job so I'm prone to internal rotation issues and while I was off I did zero mobility work and then went straight back into the gym and starting pressing heavy because I'm an idiot. I envisage that BPC will sort the inflamed/damaged bursa out and allow me to get back to my mobility work, which isn't possible currently. Regardless of what you take, you've got to put the rehab/prehab work in as well, otherwise it'll always come back.

Started SARMS and MK677 and felt a vast improvement in all aspects. Well aware of risks and know these substances are not a long term medical thing but what else are us ignored blokes to do? @@kanemoss4490 Yes not ideal especially as I don’t really know 100% what I’m taking? My endocrinology journey started a couple of years before Covid hit. Private TRT was suggested by my Dr as I think she knew it would be a grind to get it on NHS. It was out my financial reach though.
      After almost a year of trying and months and months between hospital visits I gave up when they finally wanted a brain scan of the Pituitary and my Health Anxiety went into overdrive! Then everything went to shit with the Covid.
      It’s hard as I know there is a medical treatment for my situation and having to resort to dodgy measures to self medicate is bad.
      The thing is the SARMS made a massive difference (not placebo) and gave me the push to change my life and everything from depression/anxiety to aches and pains and no motivation reduced significantly and I feel better turning 50 than I did in my 30’s and 40’s!
      It’s not sustainable though so I will have to try again with the NHS route while I feel good and motivated.

    1. You said there are clinics that you can work with and they can prescribe these to you, but in the UK when you google it you only find TRT and HGH replacement clinics only offering synthetic replacements of those hormones with no mention of any peptide treatment.
    Since you have confirmed that your not condoning there use and there not illegal, could you share some information about the type of clinics you mention, I think it's important as there are alot of websites selling peptides for quote research purposes, many of those websites look questionable so if people were to consider this, for the sake of their health and safety under the advice of a reputable clinic , could you kindly advise the clinics you were referring to?

So telling people you can have it prescribed is very misleading .
