      Thank you for your positive comments, and I am glad the exercises have been so helpful. Keep up the good posture work even as the pain subsides as it will likely protect you from it returning. Dr. Remy

    I have been diagnosed with spondylolisthesis and bilateral pars defects on the L5 region of my spine since I was 16, when I was pregnant this past year (at 27) I kept trying to ask my doctors what I needed to do about the excess weight on my lower back, I was so frustrated because they would only say things like "if it hurts have you tried taking tylenol?" "Theres not much you can do" "it shouldn't affect you that much" to top it off when I got my epidural the stupid anesthesiologist completely brushed me off saying "well if theres no symptoms it doesn't matter." Dude, if I didn't have any symptoms I wouldn't have told you about my condition! Every time he tried to put the needle in he complained that he kept hitting the bones "as if they're floating around" needless to say my epidural didn't work, it numbed my left leg completely, but nothing important actually got numbed at all. He had the nerve to come up to me after 8 hours of suffering and say "now thats why they call it 'labor' haha" I wish those doctors were at least half as helpful as your videos have been

    Thank you so much, I am finally beginning to understand my back pain. I have been wondering why so many exercises I have tried to do according to different physios and web sites during the years are so painful. Now I know better what to do! 🙏

    Does the spine eventually shift back to its original position, the one it was in prior to the injury?

    Dr. Michael C Remy:
    1. Is this exercise suitable also for spondylolysis (L4/L5 fracture)?
    2. I am impressed how easily you perform that exercise. At what age were you diagnosed with spondy? Was it spondylolysis or spondylolisthesis?

    • @DrMichaelCRemypainfreeandfit
      @DrMichaelCRemypainfreeandfit  3 роки тому

      Hi KM.
      That is not a simple answer because it has to do with the "age" of the fracture. Typically, acute fractures (less than 8 weeks) will require rest, and those older than 8 weeks will benefit from supportive spinal stability exercises that target the offending mechanical insults to the pars. Check with your doctor for the correct approach for you and your specific case.

      @@DrMichaelCRemypainfreeandfit Thank you doctor for your kind feedback. Apparently my spondylolysis on S1/L5/L4 (two levels, grade 0) is assumed to be there for a long time, maybe even since I was born. MRI and X-ray was taken recently, when the pain in lower back as well as left buttock become more serious. During the rehabilitation it was advised to do 'dead-bug' exercise, however I always felt discomfort - pain was actually aggravating.
      I started performing your exercise and seems my pain is getting lower until recently I stopped taking Celebrex (200mg). Will keep following your instructions, Doctor Michael C Remy.

    Hi, can you advise some effective exercises for retrolisthesis grade 1 ?

    • @DrMichaelCRemypainfreeandfit
      @DrMichaelCRemypainfreeandfit  5 років тому +1

      Hi Ahmad.
      Retrolisthesis exercise is also based on finding your neutral spine position , and correcting any local and global biomechanical issues that are stressing the soft tissues of the spine. Many cases of retrolisthesis are aggravated by spinal extension, so the same exercises used in spondylo and facet syndrome will usually be helpful if done with your unique RPI (reverse posture isometric) engaged. The basic idea is strengthening your stability muscles to avoid the painful motions and positions that are unique to your case. As good rehab specialist can help you determine your neutral spine in all planes of spinal motion, and explain what your mechanical issues are that affect your retro, or you can purchase the low back healing program at the painfreeandfit.com site if you want a self treatment approach.
      Hope this helps and keep me posted on how you make out.
      Dr. Remy

      Thanks @@DrMichaelCRemypainfreeandfit for great advise. Pls advise does chiropractic treatment is helpful in retrolisthesis I have 12 to 15 % slippage of L5 over S1.

    • @DrMichaelCRemypainfreeandfit
      @DrMichaelCRemypainfreeandfit  5 років тому +1

      Hi Ahmad.The answer to your question is usually yes. Chiropractic addresses the various biomechanical components of retrolistheis that are causing pain. A chiropractor can often alleviate pain through joint and soft tissue manipulation. Many chiropractors also can advise you on custom healing exercises, nutrition and posture/activity of daily living changes that can help relieve pain. While no therapy is 100% effective all the time, I have found that most cases of retrolisthesis pain can be helped through chiropractic in my 30 years experience.

      @@ahmadmirza1195 Hi Ahmad.
      Yes, I will put together a video for retrolisthesis, but it will probably not be posted for another few months as I have quite a list of videos already done and scheduled for posting. Another option is to consult online with me and we can build a custom program for you if you have no rehab specialists local to you. I would need a few photos of your posture and basic movements, or a video conferencing session via zoom to get started. Let me know me know if you would like my assistance with customizing such a workout routine for your posture/spinal stability/body mechanics as per your retrolisthesis. .

      @DrMichaelCRemypainfreeandfit  5 років тому +1

      Hi Mustafa.
      You are among many who have aggravated low back spondylolisthesis with extension (backwards bending) work for the thoracic spine. The key to avoiding these aggravations is maintaining a neutral spine (specific for your body based on a mechanical analysis) in your lower back spondylo area WHILE extending the mid back (thoracic spine). It is all about localizing the extension force to the needed area of the mid back while avoiding extension in the lower back. I hope this helps your future workouts.
      Dr. Remy
