I missed the part where this was "one simple trick"! What a crazy amount of work to do just to park a scale car next to an architectural model. My simple trick: if your client wants to see cars next to his model, choose a scale (1:90, 1:64, 1:48) in which you can buy off-the-rack vehicles before you start.
