this is good. it sounds like an ATDI song from back in the day and not mars volta with less notes. Good example of musicians progressing musically over their career but not forgetting their roots and still able to play viscerally and unpretentiously despite their journey and credentials. I've got a feeling this is going to be a worthy follow up to relationship of command and not just a shitty reunion album like refused and a bunch of other bands.... probably what RATM are scared of doing.
I hope you're right, and this song leads me to believe they can pull it off. I still like Refused, but man was I underwhelmed by their comeback album.

I agree. At The Drive-In probably focussed on more structurally balanced songs. Mars Volta is kind of At The Drive-In - Extended Version, Director's Cut. Love both!

I finally saw ATDI in August this year at Summer Sonic in Japan and they destroyed it. Absolutely still have "it" judging by their live performance, and seeing that they are back to making new music makes me look forward to 2017.
Relationship of Command is one of my all time favourite albums. This song sounds amazing - really pumped to hear the new album. Good to have ATDI back just doing what they do, as though they've never been away.
