Just a FYI.
She lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for a while. When my dad was in his late teens he worked at the Downer Pharmacy when one day, all by herself she walked in and as my dad put it, "you could sense she was a strong willed person." He felt honored that he was able to personally help her. And to think she went on to become an icon in the middle east and known throughout the world!
I got cold chills- reading this. How incredible that your father was able to meet her!!
(in the context of your dad's honorable discharge of duty) A reason the Bible says to honor all men. Guess no one can tell who we are inadvertently dealing with and making history with.
@@orangepeel3465 he always felt honored and privileged to have met her, a couple times. He was a genuine people person and knew she didn't want someone creating a scene. Always kept it professional but with the utmost respect.
@@omoniyiojo8636 That was so well articulated, thank you! My dad almost became a priest, grateful he didn't! Lol! He loved and respected all walks of life and excepted people for what was in their heart, he thrived on that and his funeral was a testimony to a life well lived. Oh I so wish the entire world would live by that standard.

Great documentary, very well explained. My grandmother from former USSR often mentioned her and the encouragement she gave to Jewish people to consider to move to Israel. Amazing woman!

Are you Jewish?
Thanks for giving the privilege to listen to the story of a human being with love for humanity and great compassion
I arrived in Israel the same summer as the Yom Kippur War when Golda Meir was Prime minister. I can still hear her clear, slightly American accented Hebrew over the radio. I have family, recently passed away, whose parents sailed on the same boat as Golda. She dedicated her life to the Jewish state at the cost of a domestic family existence, although she was well know for her "kitchen cabinet".
It’s lovely to know & appreciate one’s family history. That security of time & place within something so real truly grounds people, in my experience.
By definition & history. Do you agree/think that for the well being of the State of Israel; Israel should always have a far right government? If so we’ll that mean peace with Palestine will be virtually impossible? Prayers & sympathy in this hard times🇮🇱🇵🇸
@@Melowtonypeace can never be achieved with arabs. Have you not listened to what they say in plain words? That peace will only be achieved when the entire world is under Islam ie sharia law.
So what kind of peace do you think the Arab world enjoys? They are always killing each other, never mind non arabs. Do you have any idea what kind of life arabs live in the middle east? No. Evidently not.
I do believe that she didn't anticipate the shht that followed and still continues today. As long as Isreal doesn't correct the error the Workd is going to be devided and belligerent. They could have drunk turquish coffee and play checkers together.
Golda Meir was a great, brave & intelligent woman Leader of the making. No wonder she was called " the Iron Woman". A true Jewish woman.
I have always had a soft space in my mind for Golda Meir… and I don’t know why… I must come back to listen to this video.
The Ingmar Bergman movie is still the best in my view!
She did what she could with what she had to achieve to the extent that she had. For a women to achieve so much in a male dominant world in that era is remarkable
Totally agree..the woman had b...lls. wish today's 'leaders' in the UK would grow Some.😮
Bring the women to settle the chaos of n the Middle East
Utterly remarkable.
I had always admired her, her guts, strength, determinaton, endurance, intelligence...etc etc. A fine example to many, of all genders!
She was remarkable your comment lessens her greatness. Shame on you
I'm of the generation that was alive during the 7 days war and battle of yom kippur. I remember what an honored and respected woman she was and her death was greatly mourned in the US and the world. We knew the world has lost a great leader.

This comment may come late but Golda Meir was a hero to the Jewish cause. Her accomplishments as woman, diplomat, leader is unmatched! God bless her soul and may her labors for a free and peaceful Israel in the land of their ancestors be realized in our time!
Never too late to acknowledge Golda and her amazing contributions to this world!
She only cared about Jews, anyone else was garbage to her.

I was born the same year as model Israel 1948. As I grew older I watched so many news reports describe the pioneering Israelis.I really was inspired by the Jewish women I saw on big and little screens. When Golda Meir became the leader of Israel I was astounded that a woman could achieve such a goal. Our grade school song was from the movie Exodus. “😮This land is mine, God gave this land to me!”
She played the role of a man to the demise of her family.
@@ramonam9251
Can you please elaborate, why was she a demise for her family?
To turn ones back on their own destiny, is to turn your back on the Almighty. As for my Golda, her destiny was to be so great, that her name would live on in the lights of 2:34 eternity! Her name become forever linked with the destiny of a people with no home of their own! So elevated was her destiny, that had she turned away from it as you so snottily suggested, the deaths of millions more homeless souls, would have been imminent! But being the anti- anything you are, I’m sure those deaths would have meant nothing to you. Stupid people havent the depth of understanding one must accumulate through education! So, now i will tell you exactly who or what drove Golda on her journey to a greatness very few women have or will achieve. Go get your glasses now, cause here is your answer. DIVINITY!! Thats right, hers was a divine path that was given to her, from above, because SHE, the Divine, knew Golda was the one! THE CHOSEN ONE!!! Best you dont think so hard in future, cause it must be humiliating that after such thought, you still came up empty!

You mean to reestablish the ancestral home which was historically known as the land of the Jews. Since then all the archaeological evidence historically proves that they belong here in Israel. A very tiny Jewish State. Their National Home
I can't begin to describe how thankful I am for this channel. I've learned so much this year, I feel like I have a better understanding of the world we live in.
Thank you People Profiles!
If you did not come out with the conclusion of Israel is based on false , and have no right to exist on the lands of Palestine you did not learn anything
@@MohamdjrjotkfnffrnnrnrnfnfnrNo, you.
Seems you never learned anything at all. The league of Nations gave land to the Jews. They are the only people with any legal claim to the land. The pretenders could have had land too; their own state that they could lay legal claim to, but they rejected it because they wanted it all. They were greedy. They never had any legal claim to the land, and they still do not have any legal claim to the land. They could have had thriving cities by now, complete freedom, and everything for their children to look forward to. Instead, their 'leaders' are filthy rich fleecing off millions from international aid, which is why they continue to keep the Palestinians in poverty with terrible living conditions. It pays the leaders to wage war with Israel, and use the Palestinians as the poster child to gain international sympathy.
Did you learn anything?
I feel the same way, I've learnt a lot!
Golda Meir has been an example to many women, never to underestimate ones power, and to commit oneself to any cause taken.

She couldn't inspire me less. A born liar, yes. She played a big part in the problems we still face today. The creation of Israel was the biggest mistake of the 20th century. Seeking security for Jews by forming a nation surrounded by Arab states that were not willing to share the country under the given circumstances? Absolutely insane. PM Golda Meir has been one of my HEROES of the modern world. I was a youngster in 1948, & recall how happy my parents were at the Declaration of the Independent State of Israel. That time impacted my memory as my parents discussed politics after dinner. I always sat, intrigued, to listen, never contentious on their parts, but discussions, interesting to me. I have read the biography of PM Meir & other books @ Israel & its struggles & development. For myself, I think PM Meir's ability to manuver, access, & develop political strategy in such a patriarchial culture as are all the nations of the Middle East, & gain respect, is one of her most important contributions to her legacy, Israel as a nation, & the world stage of leadership. I noted it mentioned in this documentary @ least 2x, about her "neglecting her children" & @ leaving her husband. Do we always remember those men of leadership who may have "neglected children & left spouses", as part of their lasting bios? That was the one glaring take away from the documentary I found unnecessary.

Hell is waiting for you satanists
God threw them out of his land many years ago for worshiping false gods and disowning Jesus As Gods son. These people are no longer chosen people. ALL those who follow Christ are his people.
@@letsgococo288 your beliefs aren't the only ones that matter. If you think that you're not intelligent and obviously don't really follow Christ's teachings.
No words can describe how great she was.💚🧡💙🇮🇱🇮🇱
No wordes but a flag🇵🇸
she is a criminel, she was a refugé in Palestinia, had an palestinien pass port lived in a big house owned by Palestiniens and when the British left she threw the palestiniens out of their house and took it, shame on her
My great grandparents did the same thing and were from Kyiv, they immigrated to NYC brought my grandmother and aunt and 4 uncles.they settled in New Jersey.....
what an amazing individual, i think she made a lasting impact on the international stage
As amazing as a deadly viper and sadly she made a terrible impact on thousands of Palestinians she ordered butchered
@@anitapodsudek8041 let's pull the Palestinian card out. Last time I checked and the time and time before that. The Palestinians liv way better life in Israel than example. One hundred thousand killed in Jordan. How many are killed in Lebanon evey day. In Syria Assad kills more Palestinians than Israel ever does. Don't you find it amusing how a little country like Israel can leave the whole Islamic world traumatized for life and for generations to come NAKBA NAKBA NAKBA Islam brought this apon themselves. Right out of the quaran. Theres a jew hiding behind the rocks and the rocks will tell you. There's a jew hiding here come and kill him. First of all evey jew you kill 10 of you Muslimes will die. Very elementary. In Islam trees and rocks talk and donkeys fly to the moon
Actually it’s the Palestinians who “butcher” people - including each other.
@@anitapodsudek8041 We can only hope in the future that Palestinians and Israelis find some way of working out their differences. But name-calling isn't helpful. There is murder on both sides, but as the two sides in Northern Ireland found over many bitter years of conflict, there has to come a time of forgiveness and reconciliation and understanding. In Israel, this is lacking on both sides, and so as the hysteria continues, the misery continues. Dull thinking will not fix it, and polemical intransigence will only make it worse. Everyone feels for the Palestinians, the way they have been unjustly treated, but they also feel for what happened to the Jews, and the need for a homeland where they feel save. There is common ground somewhere in all this mayhem, but if you are determined not to look for it, not to seek it, not to see the concerns and worries of your opponent... then you will reap misery, and more misery, and not just for yourself, but for your children, and grandchildren, and on both sides. So who's the murderer now...?

She was committed to the cause of Israel as an Independent state. She have missed some opportunities but I think that was because she was discriminated against because of her gender

Wow
As a teenager in Finland, my Christian faith and the love of Judaism grew inseparably together. This documentary reminds me of the books I read for over 45 years ago. Golda Meir was and is one of my heroes.
God bless Finland. I greatly admire the strength and unity of Fin people for how you defeated the much larger, better armed, Russian Army during the great winter war.
I'm greatly inspired by the strength and courage of Fins.
