    Just a FYI.
She lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for a while. When my dad was in his late teens he worked at the Downer Pharmacy when one day, all by herself she walked in and as my dad put it, "you could sense she was a strong willed person." He felt honored that he was able to personally help her. And to think she went on to become an icon in the middle east and known throughout the world!

I arrived in Israel the same summer as the Yom Kippur War when Golda Meir was Prime minister. I can still hear her clear, slightly American accented Hebrew over the radio. I have family, recently passed away, whose parents sailed on the same boat as Golda. She dedicated her life to the Jewish state at the cost of a domestic family existence, although she was well know for her "kitchen cabinet".

As I grew older I watched so many news reports describe the pioneering Israelis.I really was inspired by the Jewish women I saw on big and little screens. To turn ones back on their own destiny, is to turn your back on the Almighty. As for my Golda, her destiny was to be so great, that her name would live on in the lights of 2:34 eternity! Her name become forever linked with the destiny of a people with no home of their own! So elevated was her destiny, that had she turned away from it as you so snottily suggested, the deaths of millions more homeless souls, would have been imminent! But being the anti- anything you are, I’m sure those deaths would have meant nothing to you. Stupid people havent the depth of understanding one must accumulate through education! So, now i will tell you exactly who or what drove Golda on her journey to a greatness very few women have or will achieve. Go get your glasses now, cause here is your answer. DIVINITY!! Thats right, hers was a divine path that was given to her, from above, because SHE, the Divine, knew Golda was the one! THE CHOSEN ONE!!! Best you dont think so hard in future, cause it must be humiliating that after such thought, you still came up empty!

Seems you never learned anything at all. The league of Nations gave land to the Jews. They are the only people with any legal claim to the land. The pretenders could have had land too; their own state that they could lay legal claim to, but they rejected it because they wanted it all. They were greedy. They never had any legal claim to the land, and they still do not have any legal claim to the land. They could have had thriving cities by now, complete freedom, and everything for their children to look forward to. Instead, their 'leaders' are filthy rich fleecing off millions from international aid, which is why they continue to keep the Palestinians in poverty with terrible living conditions. It pays the leaders to wage war with Israel, and use the Palestinians as the poster child to gain international sympathy.

Back then, we as children here were taught about US History and World History...there was not a "current History" or "Civics class" almost until my mid Junior year in highschool. (I'm 60 now) Sure, as a kid I saw her name all over the nightly news that my parents watched each nite after dinner or on the 11 o'clock news but never paid much attention back then. I WAS ALSO BORN IN 1950. GOLDA MEIR WAS( AND IS) A FIXTURE OF MY LIFE.
ADMITTEDLY, THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT BECAME AN IMMEDIATE ISSUE IN AMERICAN LIFE. UNFORTUNATELY THE JEWS WHO ADVOCATED FOR THE CIVIL RIGHTS OF AFRICAN AMERICANS DIDNT ADVOCATE FOR THEIR OWN CIVIL RIGHTS.
I LIVED AND WENT TO COLLEGE IN MISSISSIPPI FIGHTING FOR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THE JEWISH POPULATION ON MY CAMPUS. OFTEN TO BE MET WITH, 'JUST DON'T TELL ANYONE I AM JEWISH'!
THE 'BATTLES' I FOUGHT WAS TO BE JEWISH IN AMERICA, EVEN IN THE DEEP SOUTH WHERE MY FAMILY LIVED. AS SUCH, WHILE AWARE OF THE BATTLES IN ISRAEL, I WAS FIGHTING FOR MY PERSONAL AND RELIGIOUS RIGHTS IN THE USA. HERE WE ARE NOW IN 2023 WITH HORRENDOUS ANTISEMITISM IN THE USA. I SAW THE 'WRITING ON THE WALL' IN 2012 AND MOVED TO ISRAEL. NOW I SEE ISRAEL AS THE SAFEST PLACE FOR JEWS TO LIVE, IN SPITE OF THE TERRORISM IN ISRAEL WITH GOD'S HELP WE PROTECT ISRAEL AND WORLD JEWRY AS THE USA RETREATS FROM SUPPORT OF ISRAEL. PM Golda Meir has been one of my HEROES of the modern world. I was a youngster in 1948, & recall how happy my parents were at the Declaration of the Independent State of Israel. That time impacted my memory as my parents discussed politics after dinner. I always sat, intrigued, to listen, never contentious on their parts, but discussions, interesting to me. I have read the biography of PM Meir & other books @ Israel & its struggles & development. For myself, I think PM Meir's ability to manuver, access, & develop political strategy in such a patriarchial culture as are all the nations of the Middle East, & gain respect, is one of her most important contributions to her legacy, Israel as a nation, & the world stage of leadership. I noted it mentioned in this documentary @ least 2x, about her "neglecting her children" & @ leaving her husband. Do we always remember those men of leadership who may have "neglected children & left spouses", as part of their lasting bios? That was the one glaring take away from the documentary I found unnecessary.

As well as the irascible general, Moshe Dayan. My mom, a Methodist, and my dad, a non-practicing Catholic, raised me with a great respect and love for G-d's Chosen People. I remember my mom cheering when Israel won the Six Day War! I constantly pray, sometimes in Hebrew, for Israel. Especially with the current war! I can't understand why, after being beaten in '48, '67 and '73, the "others" keep trying to make Israel go away. But, then, I don't understand anyway. I am Catholic, but spent a quarter of a century in Messianic Judaism, so I understand Israel much better than most non-Israelis. Golda, of blessed memory, rest in peace!

@@anitapodsudek8041 let's pull the Palestinian card out. Last time I checked and the time and time before that. The Palestinians liv way better life in Israel than example. One hundred thousand killed in Jordan. How many are killed in Lebanon evey day. In Syria Assad kills more Palestinians than Israel ever does. Don't you find it amusing how a little country like Israel can leave the whole Islamic world traumatized for life and for generations to come NAKBA NAKBA NAKBA Islam brought this apon themselves. Right out of the quaran. Theres a jew hiding behind the rocks and the rocks will tell you. There's a jew hiding here come and kill him. First of all evey jew you kill 10 of you Muslimes will die. Very elementary. In Islam trees and rocks talk and donkeys fly to the moon

Actually it’s the Palestinians who “butcher” people - including each other.

@@anitapodsudek8041 We can only hope in the future that Palestinians and Israelis find some way of working out their differences. But name-calling isn't helpful. There is murder on both sides, but as the two sides in Northern Ireland found over many bitter years of conflict, there has to come a time of forgiveness and reconciliation and understanding. In Israel, this is lacking on both sides, and so as the hysteria continues, the misery continues. Dull thinking will not fix it, and polemical intransigence will only make it worse. Everyone feels for the Palestinians, the way they have been unjustly treated, but they also feel for what happened to the Jews, and the need for a homeland where they feel save. There is common ground somewhere in all this mayhem, but if you are determined not to look for it, not to seek it, not to see the concerns and worries of your opponent... then you will reap misery, and more misery, and not just for yourself, but for your children, and grandchildren, and on both sides. So who's the murderer now...?

I have always admired Golda Mier as a woman mother and politicians
She was committed to the cause of Israel as an Independent state. She have missed some opportunities but I think that was because she was discriminated against because of her gender
I respected her irrespective the mistakes, miss opportunities, shemanage to achieve her Drem goal
    Israel becoming a State.
    She achieve her main goal.
I love and respect Golda Mier may her memories continue so she is seen as a symbol of hope to women now and future. We learn from our mistakes. Good on you Golda.

As a teenager in Finland, my Christian faith and the love of Judaism grew inseparably together. This documentary reminds me of the books I read for over 45 years ago. Golda Meir was and is one of my heroes.
