Immaculée has amazing fortitude. It must have been nearly unbearable to spend three months crammed into a tiny bathroom, unable to bathe, rarely able to flush the toilet, going hungry, starving slowly. And yet the pastor is also to be commended for keeping them safe, and for helping them to survive. Rwanda is a beautiful country. Hopefully this tragedy never happens again.

The reconciliation process in Rwanda should be the model for reconciliation in Israel and Palestine. And the colonialism manipulation is equally to blame in the Middle East.

I met a young man in Canada, who came for school. It was right during the genocide back in Rwanda. We become very good friends, and he started telling us what was going on with his family, and that his brother had just been killed and we just kind of adopted this young man into our family and we had a work permit to be in Canada for five years and we had a work permit to be in Canada for five years.. so when our work permit was done in Canada, this young man wanted us to help him go back to Rwanda and this was in 1999 so it would’ve been so it would’ve been 1994 when the genocide happened so it’s five years. So I become a PR person and started raising funds to our church to help him go back in all I worked there in fundraising for six years from 2000 to 2006 and what the people had to endure was unspeakable. I love the people of Rwanda. They’re my family. I had a young relationship baby that I was able to take care of from 18 months to the time when he was almost 7 years old. Mini trips back-and-forth seven times I was there and I’ve learned so much. It was a dark dark time for all the people in Rwanda. Pray for peace always

I'm from Mauritius Island. I still remember all my childhood in South Africa, Rwanda, Namibia, Kenya, Congo, Nigeria, Ghana and Cameroun. My parents were Doctors Without Borders in Africa, Serena McCluskey and Henry McCluskey. One day when we were in Rwanda, some Government Officials in helicopter came to us with automatic guns and force me and my parents to get on the helicopter and flew us straight to the airport. Years later while watching two movies called "Tears Of The Sun" and "Hotel Rwanda" i knew what happened and why we were forced to get on the helicopter.

My sister visited Rwanda about 5 years after the genocide. And visited the killing fields and memorial museum that they have built . She couldn't understand why they kept their skulls and bones on show all those years later rather than laying them to rest .
I suppose it's to show outsiders and tourists just how bad it was .
Because I suppose actually seeing human bones makes you realise that they were real people with real families and hopes and dreams .
VERY VERY SHAMEFUL and SAD PART OF OUR WORLDS HISTORY .
I REALLY THINK THE UK AND AMERICA SHOULD HAVE STEPPED IN AND HELPED STRAIGHT AWAY AND PUT A STOP TO THIS VILE THING

obviously you haven't heard of denialists and it's a good thing you haven't. But they're out there and preserved evidence makes their evil efforts more difficult. It’s important to realize that they don't deny the genocide just for giggles; it's a crucial step in relaunching it. That's their dream. People who live there have to be mindful of this fact.

This just goes to show that even if Racism was eliminated there will still be discrimination based on ethnic tribal group even though they are the same Race. What history has taught me is that being discriminatory is part of our Human DNA because throughout history Humans have discriminated against Social status and Class and Religion . Whatever it is we still will find a way to discriminate even if we are the same Race

Tribalism has always been here before racism. Why would a homogeneous country have a racism problem. You can look all over the world to see tribalism and killing in history this is not unique. Racism was only created to subjugate others and absolve oneself of guilt.

In 2002, while waiting outside of an immigration office in Nairobi, I saw 17 year old boy who looked like me. I approached him and spoke my language (Somali) with him. He couldn't understand. Then I spoke to him in broken Kisawihili. He told me he's Tutsi and doesn't have a bus fare. I gave him the bus fare. He also told me about how the Tutsis were genocided by the Hutus. Tutsis very much resemble Somalis, I wonder if we're the same people.
