In this video we take a look at an awesome 30ft Ford Class C RV built by Sunseeker! The owner of this RV came in to get rid of its air suspension and go to a 6" Lift Kit. Why? Well truth is air suspension isn't as good and it's not all of the hype. With custom springs you will get far more lift, articulation and a way better ride. Not to mention it's also great for towing too. These are just some of the few reasons but be sure to watch this video to check out the full build and tour with plenty more information. ***WE ARE NOT GIVING THE AIRBAGS AWAY...JUST A JOKE***
I realize it's kinda randomly asking but do anyone know of a good site to stream newly released movies online ?
1 Helper bags have been put on everything from semis to daily driven tow rigs, and lowboys for years and years
2 If you use a quality bag instead of cheap shit ones they don't expand at the bellows so you get alot more lift with less pressure.
3 Quality air bags can handle up to 200 psi easily such as conitech, slam specialty, or airlift.
4 If 112psi only gives you an inch than your brackets are completely setup wrong or you are running undersized bags.
5 An on board compressor gives you the versatility to only pump them when needed for a heavy load or towing.
6 A lift and heavier springs will make your motorhome ride like dog shit when it's unloaded.
7 Helper air springs aren't meant to be a lift at all. They are meant as suplemental support to maintain stock height when towing or carrying a heavy load.
8 Air bags are a cheap way when set up correctly to drastically reduce body roll that alot of larger rvs have.
I'm not saying that a lift or heavier springs, sway bars, shocks or any of that aren't great ideas. I would love to have my 2020 chateau 31' a little higher when I'm out on my dune trips, but to say that someone shouldn't use them is not good advice. If properly setup and quality components are used, an airbag setup can give you a great bang for the buck improvement on your handling and tow capacity.
I believe everything you said. The guy in the video sounds like a used car salesman trying to talk mechanics LOL but everything you listed makes sense everything this guy spitting out of his mouth makes absolutely no sense! I added airbags to my class c and I couldn't be happier! No more body roll
@rage801 yep this is more of an infomercial for their lift kit instead of a helpful video. That's why I felt like I had to respond with some truth.
100% correct! Anyone can see that the air bags that were on this thing are pathetic. It should have at least an 8” diameter double bellow on each side. It would then sit right at relatively low pressure and have a nice ride.
I agree one hundred percent airbags a ride for a smooth ride airbags absolutely make the ride more sturdy and more smooth my airbags lift back of my RV at least 4 to 5 in and stiffer springs are not the answer for anything unless you're constantly carrying a massive load
I wanna see one of these lifted RVs going thru a rocky trail road to see the suspension working and doing its job
I love what you have done to it: black wheels, front bumper, 6 inches lifted. And those are what I want for my ford. Thank you!
Perfection as always! Love the black out. Rear springs look amazing.
Your 2 kind. Thanks for hanging out and watching.
Awesome build as usual!!
I just visited you guys an hour ago. Can't wait to get my lift kit installed.
Great meeting you today. We look forward to building your van with you.
Good Stuff & Great Tips 👍 Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
👍👍👍 Another great video very entertaining
Thanks Bob.... I do my best.
Great video - very informative. I live in Nova Scotia and recently bought a Four Winds 24F C class on E-450 chassis. I feel like it could use an inch or two more clearance, but mostly would like a better ride. Feels driving a fridge riding on dodge-balls, and rough roads are brutal. Know of any options up here in Canada?
Appreciate the info on air bags. Thanks!
No problem!
Just wanted to ask again if there is any negative to leaving the heavy duty leaf springs and trackbar on? Also, you did a great series of videos almost 2 years ago showing eh front end instal on a van. Could you guys film the install on a RV both front and rear and can we see underneath how the leaf springs are sitting when back on the ground? Mainly curious where the arch ends up. Slightly arched, flat (doubt it). As I said before, I literally have the same unit as this in a Forester and will be getting this done at some point but probably going to be a little while yet. Thanks
I have a 31' Class C E-450 almost identical to one in video. Where can I get these mods done in Las Vegas? I added sumo springs and Steering stabilizer, but I off rod camp and would like sway bars and shocks.
You'll be working on my Forester in a few weeks! I can't wait to see the final outcome!!! Thanks!
Can't wait!
I've got a 34'Vesta c-class, it has airbags from the factory, is that the same as this setup? Should I look at new springs to get is a little more comfortable to drive?
I ha e 2000 Chevy Chalet. New Bilstein shocks all around and Sumosprings in rear. Still rides Iike there's no suspension. On rocks. Will bigger leaf springs help?
Very fair and informational.
I’m not sure if it would be feasible for me to drive my RV all the way from Iowa to CA to do a black out and lift kit even though I would love you guys to do the work. I have a 2004 Ford 450 Jayco Greyhawk 26SS. I can order just about everything from you guys for my lift kit and black out 👀 look . Other than the grill, tires, blackout coated rims. Any suggestions on finding someone to power coat my wheels. Suggestions on ordering tires and grill.
I am so saving all my money to get your lift it’s gonna take me awhile but I love you videos and I cannot wait to camp where I want to here in Colorado I have a 2018 thor e-450
Thank you, we look forward to making your RV awesome and drive AMAZING with our suspension.
I would love to know if these kits increase load carrying capacity and towing capacity. And if so how much
What type of aluminum wheels can fit for a 2019 E450 class C ? I only find Alcoa. Does anyone else make some that fit? Great videos!
So I have the Forester version of this RV. I have already done Hellwig bars and track bar. I did shocks and steering stabilizer as well. If I went with your kit I should have no issues losing the shocks and stabilizer for better units. Is there any reason to not keep the heavier sway bars and trackbar? I get that they are not needed with your kit because you actually go for the root of the problem, especially the reverse-arched springs. I don't mind a little stiffer ride if it still helps improve things around a corner. I am not criticizing here, just asking so I understand better.
I admit I would never really go that far off-road except when going out west and maybe taking advantage of BLM land. I do like the look and the additional clearance it provides. Been lucky and haven't dragged but those jacks concern me and long low overhang out the back.
One last thing. Couldyou possibly try and do a few videos showing the ride difference after the install. I know 's 'hard to do but maybe see if an owner would describe the ride before and after. That always helps to hear too.
I really like you, seem cool as heck. Good content, seems real honest.
Always a good time over here! Thanks for checking us out and subscribing!
You have the drop for the sway bar, but what if we've already done Hellwig oversize swaybars and want to lift a couple...or few inches?
Where can I purchase new spring for my E350 class c rv
Love it !!
What can I do to improve handling my 2002 days Dodge RoadTrek? Great content on your videos!!
Unfortunately I have not played with the dodge at all?
I have 1981 Chevy 20' class C. It has air bags but one, the air line leaks. Instead of fixing it, id rather do away with them.
Can the coach ride fine without the airbags? Im new at this so i havent a clue.
I have a forest river e450 chassis with airbags. Towing capacity is currently rated at 7500 lbs. Will the rear spring setup you describe increase towing capacity?
No. Stick with the airbags.
Very Informative! Good video.
Would like to see chinook on f350 and f450. Also more before and after with test drives please.
That’s a cool Bus!
I never see the cards that you reference in the video. Is something wrong with my UA-cam?
Air bags are best used as supplemental or being oversized. All the issues you outline come from running high pressure in an overloaded situation. I have Airbags on my truck camper, I wanted the help to remove a bit of squat, additionally being able to dial in my needs from them for different loading situations. I only run about 30 PSI to achieve this and the truck ride beautifully and is quite stable. My bags are rated for 100psi and tbh if I needed anymore than 50PSI to gain the height I need then yeah new springs and or adding a block would come before adding a heap of pressure.
Well said!
Wish you would have showed clearance measurements aft spring install
What’s the tires brand used?
Cost ball park on this one? With out bumper and hub cap?
Can you help a guy with an1983 chevy G30 25 foot RV...Love the workmanship of your product
When are you gonna do a Chevy 4500 Class C RV ? I have a 22’ Sunseeker and it sits too low. It has your favorite air bags on the rear and sits damn near on the bump stops up front. Helllllllllllppp !!!
How much will it cost to up grade my Suspension on my 1973 Dodge Minnie Winnie class C RV.
Will your 6in Kit eliminate body rolls in corners and when Semi-Truck passes by?
Yes it will! :) Our whole kit is an entire suspension upgrade to give you the best overall control of your vehicle.
What are the names of the rear leaf springs for my 26 foot sunseeker E450.
Sorry i dont understand the question, but would love to help.
Nice job what state are you in
I have a 1998 32 foot RV I would like to get a price from you
really good video!!
I have exactly the same model and I would like to have it as you did in the video. can you tell me where you are located and how much can its modification cost?
We are located in San Diego, California
I want to do this to my Thor four winds 30d. Where are you guys?
We are in San diego, give us a call 619-596-9831
You doing new grills or sanding an painting,, if latter, maybe a vid on that
I own this same model ...now I know how mine would look if I use this lift ...really like it! but I'm a chrome type of guy
I have an RV and I like to also have better shocks on the back of the RV can you help me out with that?
Yes we offer shocks with all of our suspension packages.
I want my Sunseeker to look like this!
I want your sunseeker to look like this!
I do both extra leafs and airbags at 30 psi or so
how much what you did set me back on a coachman m319 yes airbag you can toss away sumoshocks would been better what your springsbeen best
Why will you not recommend the airlift, I was thinking of installing it in my class c motorhome
What does the new spring look under load on the RV?
I'll have to do a video showing but it sit with positive arc rather than negative like stock
Please have one of your customers tell us how the vehicle handles after the lift. I have a 2020 31 Château.. I only have 34% of the weight on the front axle. Can your lift fix this?
if it is built off the Ford E-Series chassis then yes we can lift kit!
E 450 Ford. 2019
I am very happy with the way our 2013 Born Free MH turned out .Drives and handles great with a Hellwig say bar in the rear no sway bar in front
Thought I was looking at suspension input. Not putting a winch up front
what you think about sumo shock
not a fan
Do you any videos of upgradeing the suspension without lifting it?
Not yet but we are coming out with a 2-inch kit though! Not as high as the current kits.
@@WeldtecDesigns sounds good , i’am in New Jersey . I use the RV mainly to go to the drag strip .
@@angelrivera2587 Keep an eye out! :)
@@WeldtecDesigns will do 👍🏼
Decent airbags are not like bricks, but softer than steel springs. Airbags can actually make the ride smoother over rough roads: perceived road bumps depend on how much of the up/down movement of the wheel is transmitted to the vehicle; with stiff leaf springs (extra stiff to carry the weight) much of the bump motion gets through. With part of the axle weight taken by an airbag, and the leaf spring less "compressed" and less stiff, the bump motion is transmitted by a softer spring and by the airbag, which obviously is less stiff than a steel spring and transmits less bump motion. (Imagine hitting something with a hammer, either steel to steel, or steel to rubber; which would be quieter?) Result: slightly smoother ride on rough roads. The air bag pressure should be tested for best result, I have heard 70psi. (Air suspension trucks and coaches use only air-bladders and no metal springs, with an much much smoother ride because the large air bag can move with the road bump without transferring much movement to the axle. Because this suspension so soft, it needs active pressure management to continuously compensate for weight changes and swaying in turns, which makes it expensive).
I will use the airbags to level left to right because the passenger side is always tilted down that’s what I will use airbags for. But if you have anything that will fix that problem well awesome let me see what you got👍

Thumbs up’d
Anything van (edit, would like to see a winch mount that fits behind stock late mode bumper)
Subscribed to Growing up Garage
Thank you very much. There is no room behind the late model vans for a winch. You can do this same bumper on your van.
@@jeremyjohnson8361 I don’t know if my wallet can !
You can always buy the DIY kit?
@@jeremyjohnson8361 as soon as I graduate from grinder to welder ;)
I lernd sum gud shit. 👍
You should get someone like vancity vanlife get a lift witch is 100k UA-cam channel for more exposure ✌️
Very possible, we've been subscribed to him for quite some time now, he has some killer content!
I like your 2 cents and agree. I've built a lot of oilfield equipment and everything is engineered. Spec the suspension to support the coach, build on a bigger truck platform or build a lighter coach, don't add band-aids. Surprised that company hasn't had a lot of tragic failures. That is just criminal to put unsuspecting customers in danger with a system waiting for failure. AAARGH !!!!
I want more mom ride videos. More entertaining.
They're coming!
Lift the Transit. 2”.
Leave a comment : I wanna see the ultimate build in the worst situation!
Of course you say that nothing is better than your springs because you're selling two strings and new springs are great but if you're not carrying a massive load they're also very stiff and the ride quality goes down
Nice work but I don't think I like that lifted look on an RV. I wouldn't want mine sitting that high.
Don't believe everything on youtube.
Especially when the sales people are telling you it's a good idea...
Please give us an example of why you would use Air Bags on your RV? Over a spring built for the weight and towing capicity ? We will wait.......
"smash that subscribe button" is the same bull crap all the millennials say in their UA-cam videos and guess what you get a thumbs down every time and no subscription
Thanks for your comment and sub to our channel!
Looks cool but I bet that rides like shit
Less yadda, yadda, yadda. Get to the point.
But we love to jiber jab! otherwise it would just be pics!
stopped watching after 4 min - did he ever get to the point and discuss the title of the video? moving on.
We talked about it at 4:02
