- In this video, we are going to learn how to make cheesy mushrooms recipe or in another word Bhutanese famous food Shamu datshi. If you are new here Shamu is known as mushroom and datshi means cheese in Bhutan.
You might consider this recipe of Cheese and Mushroom in appetizer also, where some consider it as a starter as well. If you're a vegetarian then this Shamu datshi recipe is a must-try for you and it hardly takes much time to cook.
The ingredients used in the Cheese Mushroom Recipe are readily available in almost every household.

Ingredients to make Cheesy Mushrooms:
White button mushroom
Onion
Ginger
Green Chillies
Cheese
Oil & Salt
Instruction to make Cheese and Mushrooms Recipe:
1. Peel of ginger and onion.
2. Rinse mushrooms, ginger, onion and green chillies.
3. Separate the mushroom cap and stems, place the cap over a chopping board and cut into thin slices along length of cap. Likewise, slice the stems in sections.
4. Also, cut ginger and onion into thin slices, and chillies in lengthwise.
5. Heat the oil in a pot or pan, add ginger, fry for 30-40 seconds and add onion and stir-fry until they are light brown.
6. Add chillies, add a little bit of salt and fry up until they are half cooked.
7. Then add mushrooms, sprinkle some salt and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
8. After that, cover it, turn down the heat to low and cook until cheeses melt completely.
9. Finally, turn of the flame, let it seat for a minute, mix it well then it should be ready to serve.
NOTE while making cheesy mushrooms:
• You can even cut mushrooms into cubes not always necessary to slice them.
• Garlic and tomatoes are not that necessary for this mushroom. The mushroom itself is already flavoursome and adding garlic and tomatoes makes the dish overwhelmingly flavourful sometimes.
• A slightest touch of ginger makes this dish rich.
• Garnish with some coriander if wished.
• Make sure to fry first 2-3 three minutes on high flame. Since this mushroom’s releases a lot of water.
• While adding salt don’t get fooled by the quantity of mushroom at first, later while cooking they tends to boil down a lot. Keep those things in mind.

What type and brand of cheese do u use ??
I generally use Datshi (homemade cheese), if it’s not available I use Mother Dairy or Amul Cheese
