Hey, seriously thank you all for watching. The fact that I get to talk about Final Fantasy as a job is still mind blowing to me and this is all because of YOU amazing people. I owe you everything!
Oldschool contra Gamer Same, we're in the minority, but I kinda appriciate it more for that reason. I really like the story and junction system. And unlike ff7 it was the first ps1 ff that looked good imo.
Yup. I first played 7, watching my brother and his friends. 8 was my first I was gifted for a bday and played on my own...hen I saved up the epic summer when 9 came out (what a summer that was, vagrant story, chrono cross, and ff9) and that first (and only "full") play through has never left me.
whooo! same here dude! this was the very first RPG i played way back PS1 days and i fell head over heels in it so much. just beat it for the nth time over and over again. it's pretty addictive especially the mini games like Chocobo Hot & Cold, lol
How about both, I haven't played either in yrs. They just don't make games, as good as, they did when ps1 was the newest concole, as the yrs have pasted by, the stoylines have gotten shorter, weaker, and just not as imersive. Now it's all about mutiplayer, micro transactions, and overall greed.
This was my first FF game ever, when it first released. I was SO IN LOVE with it, and to this day, it's still my favorite. I love all the games but this one is closest to my heart.
IX is my baby. I've bought the game several times, twice on PS1, Once on PSN, and I have no problem buying it again for the PS4... especially with that wallpaper... It's really a lovely game and I encourage those who haven't played the game to give it a shot. The game to me, faults included, is a masterpiece.
Final Fantasy 9 was in my top 2 or 3 of the FF series, so I was happy to hear this was getting done. Thank you for showcasing this and of course giving your views on it.
Really an underrated gem. My 2nd favourite after 7. It has a special place in my heart because it was a diffuclt era in my life and the game was my escape. I hope in the future we have a total remake.
Abu Sami I know the feels man. I've always used games as a get away when shit hits the fan in my life. Final fantasy and mtg are probably the only reasons I didn't give up on life as a teenager.
@@aldinvejzovic3782 were you alive when it came out? This game was completely ignored at release for 2 reasons. The ps2 was already out so ppl were very done with ps1 games, and it was known FFX was on the horizon which looked wayyyyyy better. Secondly, the art style. People were still into the more futuristic styles of 7 and 8. I dont think FF were ready to move back in time so a lot of ppl didnt like the cartoont goofy look of this game. I remember ppl not giving a rats ass about this game when it came out and many of them never got to find out that it was actually legit good. The other thing too was the battle system was sooooo slow and word got around fast about that and scared some ppl off. So it really is underrated. It doesnt get talked about much anymore like 6, 7, and 10 still are.
saldanamoreno I seriously go back to this game every couple of years. This was my first final fantasy, my first rpg, and is still too this day my favorite game ever.
Only char's name I can remember is Vivi, I don't remember the knight's name, I renamed him Buzz (as in Toy Story) and there was a princess that asked you to name her, think the default was dagger, but I could be wrong, it's been nearly 16 yrs since I've played, but I know I loved the story.
Just picked this up on ps4 store after finishing the ff7 remake demo. Haven’t played this game since i was like 9, it holds up surprisingly well considering its age. Its one of the more comical of the FF series. Really enjoying it
FF9 will always hold a special place in my heart. I started playing this game in my teens years, it wasn't the best time of my life, but this game, and the characters helped more than you know. I grew quite attached to them, and to this day I consider it one of my all time favorite games!
FF games especially FF IX is the only game that Made me tears in the end of the story. Beautiful story and the characters are really strong so that u think they are really exist, and also the Ost. are epic and really touch the deepest part of my heart. FF IX is not just a game, but it is an art. No matter how many years passed since i played this game, this game is always has a special place in my heart.
No matter what, this game will always be in my heart and be my number one game ever played. I played many other RPGs and yes this one was my first FF, but I prefer one over VII, XII, II or any lol. I bought it and I love it, and now as an adult I like it even more because of the speed up button (no days I have no time as before to train and I train a lot), Also the trophies is really cool and I finally might be able to get all the trophies in one game for the first time (I don't know about the jumping rope one) I was very close to buy this on IOS since I sold my PS3 and didn't have a way to buy this and out of nowhere appears on ps4. Now Im enjoying it again for the 20th time probably
This game was so cool! After the way too realistic FF8, we needed a Final Fantasy that took us back to a more old school style! I look forward to that Final Fantasy collectors disk too!
I am not human Did you end up buying this?? Do you enjoy it? I’m sitting on the fence of buying it, seems like a great game but $21 is kinda steep, especially if it has no replay value..which i hope it does
It has a bug where the background music restarts after every battle, so basically every 5 seconds. it has only 8 direction controls from the iOS version, instead of Omni-directional like the original, so moving your character is really clunky and makes chocobo hot n cold almost unplayable. Also, the battle UI from the iOS version covers like half the screen. It's a deal breaker. These need to be patched.
I was honestly blown away by how good the graphics of the character models are. I do have a PSOne copy, but I'll be playing it for sure on PS4. I have yet to play it, but I'm looking forward to it
There's a reward for every transition (whether the jump rope speeds up or changes its pattern). So, you get a reward at 20, 50, 100, 200, 300, and 1000 jumps. 20 is some gil. 50, 100, 200, and 300 are Tetra Master Cards. And 1000 is a key item called "Jump Rope King" or something like that which I understand serves no other purpose than having bragging rights.
I gave up on it. My highest was 239 for this PS4 port. Maybe I'll have better luck later on in the game. The lightning dodging was far easier. It was rigorous, but I got the Platinum for FFX. FFIX is going to be tough. Second game I've played where the Platinum Trophy will probably elude me due to a frustrating mini game that my motor skills simply can't handle.
At least with the lightning dodging, you could pause the game and take breaks. That which was recommended by others. I managed the jump rope in the original game but now, I just cannot get the timing right! Sort this out, SE!!!!
Final Fantasy is my all time favorite series, as I started off with the very first one on the NES. Great to see a well done remake of this underrated game!
i wouldn't this game isnt exactly hard and if your anything like me as soon as you cheat all games lose meaning and it becomes pointless to even bother being a gamer
I'd love it if Square gave us a disc with FFI - FFIX on it. But the problem I see with it is they would give use the horrendous Steam/mobile versions of FFV and FFVI.
They redid the spritework of these games and it looks absolutely horrendous compared to the SNES visuals. The menus also look terrible too. Do a google image search of 'FF6 Steam' if you're curious.
Hopefully this release will give FF9 the proper attention it deserves, it got wayy overshadowed by FFX just because that one was newer and came to the new console, but I think FF9 is better than FFX and deserves more recognition than what it got, I mean, after, it the creators favorite game
Please don't do Final Fantasy 10 like that. It's my personally favourite in the Final Fantasy series. I also love Final Fantasy 9 and think it's the second best, IMO. If anything, I have a grudge to Final Fantasy 7. Everyone acts like that game is still the "Best" Final Fantasy and it's getting a remake. I thought the game was pretty boring and I thought Cloud was a boring protagonist, compared to Tidus or Zidane.
I was wondering why all the FFIX footage i had been seeing looked so good. I got it on the PS3 and even when I transferred it to my psp the details in backgrounds were difficult to see. Everything but the menu looks great. IX is the most understated game in the series
Definitely agree with what you said about why they should make a Final Fantasy Collection disc with all the past games on it. And while they're at it, they should give 3, 5, and 6 the PSP artstyle that 1, 2, and 4 got.
How is the loading upon entering the battle? I remember this as one of my major complains when I first played it. I really hope we can get a Legend of Dragoon with this treatment.
Dude that was such like a fair and balanced and professional review, without falling into the realm of TOO neutral/distant. I don't know. Your enthusiasm was palpable without going overboard or clumsy. I enjoyed the straight-faced nature of the review but it was really cool to hear some of your personal thoughts and feelings at the end. IDK dude. That was cool. Thanks.
I played FF XII which was pretty good, but didnt really fit the numbered FF status, th3y should've called It FF: Ivalice journey or smthing like that. FF XIII saga Is an absolute NO for me. It was garbage'
ah, the good old rope jump challenge. My favorite sidequest was frog cathing. Every catched frog at qu's marsh added extra damage to Quina's "Frog Drop" Skill.
Playing the ps1 version rn in 2020 and honestly it surprises me how well the characters are done. I feel like the newer final fantasy titles lack a certain empathy towards their characters.
It seems like you ignored the fact that the backgrounds in the game did not get a "remake". It's rather jarring to see sharp, updated character models placed over grainy, old-looking backgrounds. It's 100 percent noticeable when you're playing, and it's really ugly imo.
NoFacePlays Are you playing a different version than me? I wish i could show you a screenshot, because it's not upscaled at all. Looks horrendous and washed out compared to my party characters.
NoFacePlays Mine stays like that the entire time, so i honestly don't know what you're talking about. The difference between backgrounds and player characters is insane.
Im definitely picking this version up! I couldn’t get a chance to beat the game because the last disc were all scratched up on the PS1 (there were 4 disc to this game on the PS1) so I never got the chance to finish it.
I 100% agree with you about SE convert all FF in one blu-ray. I'd love to just buy the whole package and not have to look for many emulators to play the old games...
They SO have to add the possibility to keep Frank and Beatrix in our team as we can do on emulator... Beatrix is my absolute favorite character in the whole FF universe...
I actually didn't know this game was a remaster. I watched the Tokyo Game Show, but I must've missed the part where the added features and upscaled graphics were mentioned. I have this game on PS3, only ever making it to the 2nd CD. I can definitely tell the difference in graphics, due to the upscaling, and it makes a big difference. However, I do feel like $20 is a bit much for this game... So I think I'll just finish the game via PS3/PSVita for now.
radekbejbl1 I would have to disagree ff2 for the snes was the best only because it was the 1st one I played even though ff 9 is up there right behind ff3 ,ff12 was crap 10 was even better then 12
There are so many great entries people will still be arguing about which one is the best years from now. That being said, I really enjoyed 8, 10, and 12. I have never played 9, hence the reason I am here, but I think dreamcast guy convinced me to get it.
Benito Juanjuarez you will like ff9 it has a great story awesome cinematics the final boss was kind of a mystery but the fight was decent and a heads up the ending is a tear jerker I think you will enjoy it
Yeah it sounds really good Truth Hunter. I have been debating back and forth since i saw this video. The overwhelming love for this game among the FF fans has pretty much convinced me. I'm not sure how i missed this one years ago or why i never thought to get it. It's never too late to enjoy a classic.
It's currently on sale, at least over here in the Netherlands. Considering I love this game and I wanted it's theme, I picked it up. Though tomorrow I finally get to take my PS4 home.
Not impressed. None of the textures on the re-rendered cut scenes were redone to add any depth and the least they could have done was re-render the background images. They look like complete shit. This looks like a remake for a ps2, not a ps4.
We love you too bro. Dreamcast guy! If you're interested in making a podcast, (which I pray you are) I would love to Co host. I'm a 26 year old gamer that's been playing since age 4. Hit me up!
My first game that could make me crying, laughing and add another colors of my days. From that era no game could give me this sensation. Even I named my computer shop and still put her pics for accompany me always. Hoping have friend feel the same way
Thanks for this review. Somehow this was the one final fantasy i missed out on. I have really been trying to enjoy Xlll-2, but just can't get into it. I think this remake will take me back to the glory days.
The great thing about X-2 was the return of the classic job system. I loved that they had so many with many being secret or hard to obtain. The little Easter eggs within each outfit was cool too. I also loved how many side quests and secrets there were. I still have mixed feeling about it though. After all, it is the silliest entry and even strangest at times.
A thousand succesful jumps over the jump rope with Vivi for a trophy. Are they really serious... A hundred times would have been more than enough, but this is ridiculous. Imagine tripping after 850 times or so.. Bastards.
I wonder if they did a 1.000 jumps themselves before deciding to make this a challenge for a trophy.. But what can you expect from a company that has been flushing the series down the toilet after FF XII? They don't know what they're doing anymore.
well considering people already have the platinum is not that bad, is it hard? yes but not impossible and besides the trophy set could have been worse but honestly the set is so easy the only hard trophy is this jumping rope one so difficulty wise is a 5/10
+equenoxe86 because anyone that has played the game before can check the list and notice that the trophies are easy to get again the only hard one being jumping the rope. It would have been more painful to reach the highest level in tetra master than jumping 1000 times so yes there are more ways to punish gamers for trophies
Final Fantasy IX and Melodies of Life piano collections music is what inspired me to go back to the piano back than. In fact my highest rated videos is Final Fantasy IX. The magical gem of fantasy seemed to have gotten lost after X, but will never forget the magic and charm and beauty and fun I had since IX. Sorry Tidus's HAH HAH still rubs me the wrong way. Perhaps it was the last story book reading type game of the FFS. Sparked the imagination.
What cheats I want: - steal 100% rate. (the only reason boss battle takes longer than usual, is trying to get that rare and unique items) - timer stop ( for getting Excalibur II) - No Exp mode (for Perfect Stat run) And fuck that jump rope shit! I already did the dreaded EXII+PS perfect run (not 100% perfect, cause I didn't bother getting max inventory on useless items, not be able to max on some gems for summons, not getting all the jump rope rankings, mess up 1 Stat point on Freya and missed the last secret quest) it took me months to do that and I don't want to do that long.
I absolutely agree with you. This port version worth every penny if you are into ff series. FF-IX itself has a really great story and amazing soundtrack. And of course it brings back memories with that turn-based combat. PS : Screw that jump rope trophy indeed.
Here in Australia this cost me $25 with PSPlus and it comes with a PS4 Theme and a bunch of Avatars (stuff that is normally sold extra for games I would buy that stuff for eg. Persona 5) and to be fair here the PS1 Classic on PS3/PSP/PSVita is like $13 and this is the first time ever buying/playing the game so of course I'm not double dipping or anything :)
I prefer IX's story but FFX's plot was definitely more morbid and dark, given how it revolves around a world trapped in a cycle of constant death or, in the case of the unsent and Fayth, is littered with souls that can't rest in peace. And in terms of atmosphere and a sense of grit, FFVII takes the cake in that area. FFIX tackles themes revolving around life and death too, but it aimed to strike a balance of grief AND optimism more. Even as Vivi and the other Black Mages learn to accept their fates, they don't face it in utter cheerlessness.
FF6 and FF10 are the darkest FF games, 10 for the reason you explained. FF6 has you fighting in a world that died, and the remaining survivors are either hiding or part of a cult for an evil clown god, or they're part of the returners and defeat Kefka. I can't really say that many FF games are lighthearted, they all have some of their twisted moments. Maybe some of the spinoffs are like that, idk.
Type-0 takes the number one spot for the darkest final fantasy game. Not only does it have a total death count of ~ 500,280,923,753,600,000 people just because of two fal'Cie wanting to open a gate to afterlife by repeating a world cycle over and over and over just to achieve the goal of opening the gate. But the people only existed to wage war with each other to the point where they made it so you forget everything about a person who dies just so their deaths wouldnt stop you from carrying on to fight.
I give this port a 0 out of 10 but the original game 10 out of 10 (it's my favorite game ever). The high quality character models and low quality pre-rendered backgrounds don't mesh well and it shatters the illusion of pre-rendered backgrounds. Now it looks like the characters are standing over a flat 2D image. Resident Evil Origins Collection is a proper remaster with redrawn backgrounds. If Capcom can do it, so can Square Enix.
The best FF in my opinion, but the removal of 360 degree movement did it for me. I'll Plat it and then play the original whenever I wanna replay it. Only having 8 directions to move makes it look really sketchy when you run around, especially around doors.
One of my favorite games of all time if not my favorite. The story was amazing , the characters all top notch, excellent writing as well 9.5-10. Would be a 10 but that damn card game you had to play to progress the story drove me insane !!! 🤣
Played 7, 8, and 9 on the psx, the first 3 ffs that got the 3d treatment, and i must say that 9 has got to be the best of that era... not only on graphics, but so does the story and pacing. Given the opportunity, i will replay 9, again. The other 2... well they're not bad per se but... they didn't strike me that much as 9 did.
This my favorite game since I play it in 2005..about music.. Gameplay & characters is so amazing cool.. Nostalgic if I can play once again in PlayStation 5 someday.. Thanks
FF9 is overall my favourite in the series (that i've played), and i've played through it a few times...i've been tempted to dust off my old PSX to play through again, so getting this will just make things easier!
I don't know what's worse the incredibly large UI or the shoddy sound? Minus those two things this is a brilliant port. Until SE fixes those two things our best bet is the modding community to fix up the PC version (which I believe to be the definitive version anyways because of the even further upscaled backgrounds!) Still, it's a good port all in all and i'm happy we have more FF's coming to PC. And this happens to be my favorite FF of all.
Back then I hated the art style. However playing it now i really love it. Maybe the reason that I didnt like this game as much when it was released on PSX was because it was so different from VII, VIII (although much closer to what ff originally was) but it blew me away this time around. What a ride!
5:59 "Give us all the classic Final Fantasy games together." Do you have any idea how pricey such a package would be? On the App Store there's a package that bundles FFI-FFVI for $70. Adding in FFVII-FFIX into that package would no doubt raise the cost to over $100.
Another annoyance is that (for some unknown reason) they've removed the options to customize your controls. Very annoying if you like "circle" as "confirm" in your FF games.
Hey, seriously thank you all for watching. The fact that I get to talk about Final Fantasy as a job is still mind blowing to me and this is all because of YOU amazing people. I owe you everything!
DreamcastGuy Hopefully you'll be able to make the same video for FFVIII.
DreamcastGuy You should do a legend of dragoon review for ps1
And *Thank YOU* for making these entertaining videos.

my first FF and my favorite FF
I wish Vagrant Story will get this treatment. Most underrated game by Square.

Brave Fencer Musashi. That is all.

that game is highly praised man duno what you mean by underrated

i still have my original copy from 15+ yrs ago lol
I feel you on a spiritual level lol
This game is actually priceless. It is the closest thing to perfection I've ever experienced through any art form.
You need to seriously start getting more involved in other art forms
Earth is god.

Yung Jroc it is amazing. I love that they reintroduced the clads system and also the battle music is amazing!

lol that's why I'm here
I also neaver.
Xbox here.
Dang it just came out for xbox too?
I am not human Did you end up buying this?? Do you enjoy it? I’m sitting on the fence of buying it, seems like a great game but $21 is kinda steep, especially if it has no replay value..which i hope it does
I bought this on ps4 recently its fricken amazing! I can't wait till we get ff8 on ps4
And now, we can
The cheat codes are super useful for those who have already played the game but don't have the time.

I'm not getting it because of these issues that have carried over on the Switch
Ewolf5150 most of these have been fixed now
9 is so amazing! The one that stuck with me the longest!
I was honestly blown away by how good the graphics of the character models are. I do have a PSOne copy, but I'll be playing it for sure on PS4. I have yet to play it, but I'm looking forward to it
Oh man, the jump rope mini game. Back in the day, I never got anywhere near 1000. This will be interesting.
Alex Sanderson didn't the max reward come at like 200 or some such? I don't think I ever even got that far.

I love every FF. The price doesn't even matter to me, and FF9 will always be one of my favorite FF.
I don't know if any individual part of FF9 is the "best" of any FF game, but as a total package, it is by far my favorite
Final Fantasy is my all time favorite series, as I started off with the very first one on the NES. Great to see a well done remake of this underrated game!
Now if they can just put FFT war of lions on PS4
OMG, I never even thought of this! Whoa, that would be MAJORLY cool. :D
You mean FFT can't be played on PS4 but can be played on the PS3 and the Vita?
DreamcastGuy my fav game in the final fantasy series
Rising Phoenix Dev Jesco Speaks basically, yeah. And iPhone.
Or Xenogears, Chrono Cross, Front Mission 3, 4 and 5 or dare i ask...Unlimited Saga
I would totally turn on all cheats just so I can play through the story.
I'm not gonna lie,
That's what I did.....
John Riggs: RIGG'd Games I used a GameShark back in the Ole ps1 days and made it to wear I had 999999 Gil and items
Turn based combat from the year 2000 doesn't excite you? lmao
same here ^^
i wouldn't this game isnt exactly hard and if your anything like me as soon as you cheat all games lose meaning and it becomes pointless to even bother being a gamer
I want final fantasy 8 that’s my favorite one
They lost Source Codes so its looking Slim 'z'
@@Danzroo dam :(
You just got your wish.
@@cosmicaler Ish, the remaster is broken as fuck.
I remember returning this one to the store as a kid as I didn't like how different the tone and style was compared to 7 and 8.
Single-handedly the best Final Fantasy to date and rivaled only by FF6 and FF5 in my opinion.
This is without a doubt my most favorite Final Fantasy. Such a great game.
I'd love it if Square gave us a disc with FFI - FFIX on it. But the problem I see with it is they would give use the horrendous Steam/mobile versions of FFV and FFVI.
kami4242 what's the problem with them, I hear so much about them being terrible but not why, what's the problem with them exactly
They redid the spritework of these games and it looks absolutely horrendous compared to the SNES visuals. The menus also look terrible too. Do a google image search of 'FF6 Steam' if you're curious.
kami4242 ohhhh, I see, kinda like mega man x ios in terms of bad port, at least I got the anthology on ps1
If they would make one of those, you'd probably get the Playstation versions of 5 and 6.
It's on sale already. Wow this is like a new experience you can actually see things you couldn't before
Hopefully this release will give FF9 the proper attention it deserves, it got wayy overshadowed by FFX just because that one was newer and came to the new console, but I think FF9 is better than FFX and deserves more recognition than what it got, I mean, after, it the creators favorite game
Final Fantasy IX on PS4 is the most pleasant surprise I have gotten in a LONG while. I've been waiting forever for this to happen.
Wait a minute ! They skipped FF8 and went straight to 9 ???
Due to the outcry over tiresome GF battles, FF8 wasn't as popular as most FF's in the series.
They shit the bed. FF8 is a masterpiece.
GF fights are intense battles
Agreed. FFVIII is my favorite of the franchise. Tough i havent played the first 4 entries.
Juliano Baeumle 4 is good. 1 and 2 are skippable in my honest opinion. Never played 3.
I was wondering why all the FFIX footage i had been seeing looked so good. I got it on the PS3 and even when I transferred it to my psp the details in backgrounds were difficult to see. Everything but the menu looks great. IX is the most understated game in the series
Are they going to remaster Final Fantasy 8?
no
Yes. Someday when their stock price falls.
If it happens, is going to be a port of the shitty PC version like they did with FF7
LIONREV7 Just like the shitty port of IX they just gave us...
I hope
Definitely agree with what you said about why they should make a Final Fantasy Collection disc with all the past games on it. And while they're at it, they should give 3, 5, and 6 the PSP artstyle that 1, 2, and 4 got.
How is the loading upon entering the battle? I remember this as one of my major complains when I first played it. I really hope we can get a Legend of Dragoon with this treatment.
Esteban Cartagena Its not as bad as the original, but there is still a delay.
Esteban Cartagena OMG yes
There's less slowdown for sure, the battle transitions are smooth. I wanna say the game pulls 16-34 fps so that'll affect the load times.
still no LOG 2 years later ;( we need a remaster BADDDDD
Dude that was such like a fair and balanced and professional review, without falling into the realm of TOO neutral/distant. I don't know. Your enthusiasm was palpable without going overboard or clumsy. I enjoyed the straight-faced nature of the review but it was really cool to hear some of your personal thoughts and feelings at the end. IDK dude. That was cool. Thanks.
I've played it back in 2001 or sth. on PS1/2. I give it another shot I guess! =)
7,8,9 was my FAVORITES. After FFX I stopped playing the series!
I played FF XII which was pretty good, but didnt really fit the numbered FF status, th3y should've called It FF: Ivalice journey or smthing like that. FF XIII saga Is an absolute NO for me. It was garbage'
13 & 15 are trash
I’m playing it now for the first time on a PS1 emulator, upscaled to 1080p on disc 3 right now… what a great game this is!
FF8 remaster long overdue. Massively underrated game.
Lets hope that VIII gonna be remake like VII :)
ff8 has aged like shit, story included
its not over due, the remaster is on steam
Dood Is it a remaster, or just the pc version?
hd remaster just like ff9, which this ff9 is on steam to
ah, the good old rope jump challenge. My favorite sidequest was frog cathing. Every catched frog at qu's marsh added extra damage to Quina's "Frog Drop" Skill.
Is Dreamcastguy still playing GTA on his Darth Vader PSP?
Fonso128 Does he still have those glasses he literally found on a roller coaster?
goldendragoon25 Literally
Josh Jacobs I hope Dreamcast guy his next game review
All of this thread is the best thread. Now I have to go review a rollercoaster with my darth vader psp.
Playing the ps1 version rn in 2020 and honestly it surprises me how well the characters are done. I feel like the newer final fantasy titles lack a certain empathy towards their characters.
I think you hit the nail on the head. There's more personality in FFIX too.
It seems like you ignored the fact that the backgrounds in the game did not get a "remake". It's rather jarring to see sharp, updated character models placed over grainy, old-looking backgrounds. It's 100 percent noticeable when you're playing, and it's really ugly imo.
toolshedvideo cool bro
toolshedvideo No the backgrounds are definitely upscaled. It looks like a painting sometimes.
NoFacePlays
Are you playing a different version than me? I wish i could show you a screenshot, because it's not upscaled at all. Looks horrendous and washed out compared to my party characters.
toolshedvideo Sometimes when it's playing a little scene it will look like that but afterwards the backgrounds are fine.
NoFacePlays
Mine stays like that the entire time, so i honestly don't know what you're talking about. The difference between backgrounds and player characters is insane.
Im definitely picking this version up! I couldn’t get a chance to beat the game because the last disc were all scratched up on the PS1 (there were 4 disc to this game on the PS1) so I never got the chance to finish it.
I am awaiting to see how the Secret of Mana transfers to ps4
Brian hooper it looks amazing
I 100% agree with you about SE convert all FF in one blu-ray. I'd love to just buy the whole package and not have to look for many emulators to play the old games...
FFIX = priceless
Until June 26, 2017 this port of the Steam version of the game is on sale for $16.79 (20% off retail).
FF9 is the best Final Fantasy to ever be released in my opinion
They SO have to add the possibility to keep Frank and Beatrix in our team as we can do on emulator...
Beatrix is my absolute favorite character in the whole FF universe...
DreamcastGuy, best waifu!
Well if we are getting married you better take me on a few dates first!
Final fantasy 12 and 9 are the best!!!
radekbejbl1 I would have to disagree ff2 for the snes was the best only because it was the 1st one I played even though ff 9 is up there right behind ff3 ,ff12 was crap 10 was even better then 12
My fav's are 7, 9, and X-2, but overall it is one of the best rpg series thay's still going.
I loved being able to play through it with trophy support managed to get the platinum 4th world wide.
Damn why PS4 has so many exclusive games 🤗
Final Fantasy IX is not exclusive to PS4 though.
James TwentySeven : is it coming to Xbox? 🤔
It's on PC.
And smartphones.
Haha pc master race
It's currently on sale, at least over here in the Netherlands. Considering I love this game and I wanted it's theme, I picked it up. Though tomorrow I finally get to take my PS4 home.
Not impressed. None of the textures on the re-rendered cut scenes were redone to add any depth and the least they could have done was re-render the background images. They look like complete shit. This looks like a remake for a ps2, not a ps4.
This is my first time going through it love playing the classic FF games
We love you too bro. Dreamcast guy! If you're interested in making a podcast, (which I pray you are) I would love to Co host. I'm a 26 year old gamer that's been playing since age 4. Hit me up!
I'd tune in to that,
Your gay
What are your top 10 games?
Hey I'll be in that podcast! I was a Strat Comm major before I dropped out... Now I work at a tire shop... Seriously, I need a life-change.
My first game that could make me crying, laughing and add another colors of my days. From that era no game could give me this sensation. Even I named my computer shop and still put her pics for accompany me always. Hoping have friend feel the same way
best ff game!!
After all, it is the silliest entry and even strangest at times.
ok they could have remastered FF8 first...ugghhh
dreamcast guy u r the best ... plz keep making videos ... thank u for being here
A thousand succesful jumps over the jump rope with Vivi for a trophy.
A final fantasy compilation disk from 1 through to 9 on ps4 would be amazing.
i rather play happy wheels
Those are strong words, my friend.
So play your happy wheels oh i know you have an xbox
Joenel Saracho STFU weeaboo
Sri Lestari fuck you you hve xbox
That's quite a statement to make in the heart of the Final Fantasy Fan Club forum going on here.
That really is the dream: to have all the old Final Fantasies put on one giant disc!
Plz remaster VIII Square Enix
they did already, what you meant to say was port the game to ps4
Final Fantasy IX and Melodies of Life piano collections music is what inspired me to go back to the piano back than. In fact my highest rated videos is Final Fantasy IX. The magical gem of fantasy seemed to have gotten lost after X, but will never forget the magic and charm and beauty and fun I had since IX. Sorry Tidus's HAH HAH still rubs me the wrong way. Perhaps it was the last story book reading type game of the FFS. Sparked the imagination.
Best FF imo
What cheats I want:
- steal 100% rate. (the only reason boss battle takes longer than usual, is trying to get that rare and unique items)
- timer stop ( for getting Excalibur II)
- No Exp mode (for Perfect Stat run)
And fuck that jump rope shit!
This is a shameful cash grab port of the mobile version. It's pretty obvious when you see the touchscreen interface in combat
Exactly.
Isn't the BGM glitch still present like in FF7 PS4?
I absolutely agree with you. This port version worth every penny if you are into ff series. FF-IX itself has a really great story and amazing soundtrack. And of course it brings back memories with that turn-based combat.
PS : Screw that jump rope trophy indeed.
STOP TALKING LIKE THAT
Here in Australia this cost me $25 with PSPlus and it comes with a PS4 Theme and a bunch of Avatars (stuff that is normally sold extra for games I would buy that stuff for eg. Persona 5) and to be fair here the PS1 Classic on PS3/PSP/PSVita is like $13 and this is the first time ever buying/playing the game so of course I'm not double dipping or anything :)
I WIL NOT BUY THIS! THAT WOULD BE DUMB... ALREADY HAVE IT ON PC
OKAY
I will absolutely buy this again for the cheat options. I looove this game but don't think I could grind through it again.
Thanks for this review. I was going to purchase this, but the price turned me off. $20 is steep for a re-release of a game this old.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the horrible sound effects. Super sharp and aggravating
I got this (yet to play) on my Vita for about £3.99 bought purely on the love the fan base has for it
This my favorite game since I play it in 2005..about music..
I hope they make a full HD remake ala 7 next.
Same, it will be insane
Back then I hated the art style. However playing it now i really love it. Maybe the reason that I didnt like this game as much when it was released on PSX was because it was so different from VII, VIII (although much closer to what ff originally was) but it blew me away this time around. What a ride!
I liked the artsyle a lot for the background and environment, but not for the characters. Still prefer 7 and 8 for those 2.
Couldn't agree more about the menu.
5:59 "Give us all the classic Final Fantasy games together."
Do you have any idea how pricey such a package would be? On the App Store there's a package that bundles FFI-FFVI for $70. Adding in FFVII-FFIX into that package would no doubt raise the cost to over $100.
Another annoyance is that (for some unknown reason) they've removed the options to customize your controls. Very annoying if you like "circle" as "confirm" in your FF games.
