This show (and comic) tries to explore the complicated realities of superhero life without being your typical “what if but evil or edgy” story. Hence why it has the visuals of your classic action cartoon but pushes the violence and themes into rough territory.
Well put. It focuses on all the realistic sides of being a superhero, both the pretty and ugly. Not naive, but also not edgy

@@Mansplainer2099-jy8psVery true! And thinking back on it while as a whole the comic wasn’t edgy, there definitely were some issues and subplots that were just that. 😅 Looks like Kirkman seems to be sanding down those parts a bit so they help serve the story instead of just being pure shock value.

Here is what makes this show unique from other superhero media: The combat tactics and damage are always as realistic as possible, the teams actually fight effectively to their strengths, it’s neither naive or edgy about superheroing, and the story has a perfect beginning, middle, and end for all characters involved
Let's not go overboard. There's nothing realistic about anything happening during Invincible. What it is is more visceral, which is why it feels more real and immersive.
@@fredwin Obviously the overly sci-fi concepts are still there. Aliens, multiverse, etc. it’s just all implemented in the most logical way possible with characters’ actions revolving around those unrealistic concepts
if Red Rush didn't bum rush Nolan, and literally just kept moving people out of the way like he did at the beginning of the fight, the guardians probably would have won

The craziest part about when Omni-Man went to the Flaxans dimension, is that for us/Earth it took hours at most, but for the Flaxans it was weeks, maybe even months of non-stop destruction and fear.

How eve explains her “secret identity” makes extreme sense and explains the whole “Clark Kent” alter ego. Nobody is going to go to work at a newpaper and go “oh yeah Clark Kent is superman because they look alike, same way nobody is going to go to algebra class and assume “oh that must be atom Eve she’s a redhead too”
The funniest explanation I've heard is that saying Clark Kent is superman because he looks like him would be as crazy as running up on a hipster man with a beard, long hair and sandals and proclaiming him as jesus christ.
It really does make a lot of sense. I've been told I look like a lot of different people, (just one of those faces I guess,) but no one has ever actually mistaken me for one of them. Plus, you've got the whole uniform as well. Maybe it's just me, but there's been times I've seen a co-worker outside of work and dressed in their street clothes, and I didn't recognize them at first. Your eyes may see everything, but your brain still filters things for what it expects to see.

I love how the first episode is this heartwarming cozy superhero show. It does it so well that you forget it's an 18+ series. Than the final bit happens.

The Guardians of the Globe were the strongest team of superheroes on a planet filled with many. Omni-man killing them all in seconds is absolutely insane.
I find it hilarious how people think the feats of a character within a fictional world is somehow 'insane.' What is truly insane is how adult men still have the mindset of literal children; "WoW! that fictional feat was so insane!" Instead of liking a good story and what serves the story, you go, "Fictional feat is insane!"

The comic creator wanted the guardians to basically be Rip-offs of their DC counterparts in order to lure the audience into a false sense of familiarity. Which makes Omni-man's attack that much more shocking.

Episode 1 first gives us the standard superhero tropes, then breaks them at the end as Omni-Man breaks the Guardians of the Globe. Crushing Red Rush's head took less than a second but to RR felt like hours.

I watch Invincible in like late 2021 and I was not expecting it to be brutal and I was like “DAMN this show is built different”. Haven’t watch season 2 yet but I will and I just got into watching The Boys Season 1.
You wanna know why Omni-Man killed the Guardians of the Globe? Because he got tired waiting for getting the pictures of Spider-Man.

In the comics I think the DC's Justice League had a more fixed Iconic line up than Marvel's Avengers (which changed much more often), so you see The Guardians in this show & the 7 in the Boys look much more like the Justice League, helps us understand their powers, character etc much more quickly. Love this show (& the comic), you made me laugh saying how good a Dad Omni Man was just before he punched Mark, still makes me chuckle!

So a cool little detail, the reason Omni-Man comes back with facial hair is because his body is running at "Earth Time" in their dimension so each second is like a day for his body
He has to get the job done quickly or he'll die of old age too (this isn't at all how time dilation works, but it makes sense within the rules they set up)
Which also means he exterminates the planet within a matter of minutes.
He's moving so fast that he's causing a sonic boom, not of sound but of fusion reactions which wipes out the planet
I remember watching the first episode and literally getting bored after 20 minutes until I saw the ending 💀. Literally changed how I see cartoons nowadays.
My lil brother watched this show when he was in the 5th-6th grade ☠️I was 16 at the time and said how tf are u watching this to him

What I like in this show is that it replies, from the very first episode, to the question "if superman went berserk, what would happen ?" Obviously he wouldn t be stopped that easily, and the fantasy fight "batman vs superman" would be some unilateral massacre. That s what I like in this show, heroes powers are really dangerous, and they are destructive. Mark isn t the real hero of the show, most of the time. He s just part of a way bigger story, and that s cool.

Yeah so this is based on a comic created by Robert Kirkman who also created the Walking Dead comic hence the Gore. Mark aka Invincible is voiced by Steven Yeun from TWD series. Also the entire Guardians of the Globe team were all cast members from TWD.

Always funny watching people freak out when Nolan kills Guardians of the Globe or wipes out that entire alien planet. I am probably one of the few that is laughing at how weak they are and cheering for Nolan as he wipes them all out. He's like almost like Frieza, has no problem wiping out entire planets and slaughtering millions. Only big difference is Frieza has a better sense of humor and Nolan is more like a emotionless machine.

The first nineteen minutes of your reaction was quite a rollercoaster for you. I remember thinking about the same thing Warner brothers did with Henry Cavill "Superman with a moustache? No good can come from this." but I didn't think they'd dial it up to eleven like that. Going in blind to the show I honestly thought we were going to get something similar to Superman's scenario in Injustice. Makes me wish I could experience that WTF moment for the first time again. It's normal to assume that Eve's explanation for why no knows she's a hero just "kinda" makes sense ... Until you remember that Henry Cavill once stood in front of a Superman billboard in Superman costume for hours, and not a single person recognized him.

This series has a lot of excellent actors besides J. K. Simmons; Amber is played by Zazie Beetz, who played Domino in Deadpool 2, Mark Hamill is the tailor that makes Mark's suit, Cecil is played by Walton Goggins, who was the comic relief villian in Antman and Wasp, Rex Splode is Jason Mantzoukas - Derek in The Good Place. And of course, whenever you need a deep, growly voice, like Damien Darkblood, you hire Clancy Brown (The Kurgan in Highlander, Capt. Hadley in The Shawshank Redemption). And Allen is Seth Rogan, who originally signed up to direct when Invincible was going to be a movie.

I am genuinely not certain which show I like best out of Invincible and The Boys - both show an element of "Superheroes" that shows them not always being on the good side, but they both go about it in different ways, and tell very different stories.

The Flaxans were a huge population. They had a huge planet. To me, I think it’s possible they might have had one government, or maybe they were divided into different nations, like us. It’s possible a lot of them weren’t interested in waging wars with planets in other dimensions like the Flaxan army we saw. They may have had countless children and peaceful adults. But Omni-Man killed them all.
In the comic, Omni Man took out the Guardians one by one quickly, no fight
