    Awesome! Happy to see you have made another video. I'm still waiting for my big dog to arrive, get really irritated with the wait. Ordered July 5th and still not even fulfilled nor any shipping info. I just hope it's here soon I'm too excited to start riding.

      Wait til you see the next one. I'm getting better at this video editing thing. :D ...next one is about an hour long. :D. I'm doing a 60 mile challenge this weekend with 20 miles and 1 more day to go.

    just curious. in order to lose weight when you go uphill do you use only the strength of your legs or do you stay with the accelerator wide open all the time until it can carry you and then you start using your legs? Nice video anyway.

    • @nowherehomesteady
      @nowherehomesteady  Рік тому

      Hey @heavyriders, they pedal assist is there for that purpose so no, not using the throttle wide open if I can help it. Honestly it depends on the grade of incline of the hill too. Steeper hills won’t matter as there isn’t enough throttle to overtake them without pedaling. Most of of what we have around here requires both pedal and power to move this 80lb ebike over them. Great question. Thanks for watching.

    • @heavyriders
      @heavyriders Рік тому +1

      @@nowherehomesteady and thanks 4 answering. Anyway pedal assist + legs is the only way to get on top of the steepest hills you have there....is that correct?

    Hey buddy how fast have you got the Big Dog up to?

    • @nowherehomesteady
      @nowherehomesteady  2 роки тому +1

      I hit 36mph on a steep downhill. Was a bit scary tbh. :). Most of the time it hangs out around 20-22mph on a flat areas as a top speed which is plenty fast for this bike. For most downhill sections I ride around here, I usually hit 30-32… but then I have to go back up the next hill at 8mph. Heh

    Hey, I’m a little over 300 pounds thought about this bike. Just curious to know after a year of owning it. How does it hold up? How many miles are on it and how does it do on hills? I’m not looking to try to lose weight but just curious to know How the throttle holds up?

    • @nowherehomesteady

      Its a great bike. I still love it with the changes I made a year ago. No complaints or issues. It does well on hills for what it is.
      If I had one thing to complain about it would only be that the chain slaps the frame on rough terrain. If I use it to navigate my land or to go hunting I have to be aware of the noise the chain rattle causes but on normal roads and even well maintained gravel roads or trails it does just fine.

      I would love to see that video I’m about to buy a e-bike just really want to make the right choice just had surgery on my back and would like to get out to be more active but I don’t exactly have strength in my left leg so I need a Ebike exactly too help me up hills when I can’t do it myself I was also looking at the heybike E bikes, specifically the Tyson any opinions on that? Thanks for replying by the way if you don’t mind me asking, are you a Christian a Bible believing Christian?

    • @nowherehomesteady
      @nowherehomesteady  Рік тому +1

      I can’t say I have any experience with any other ebikes. $2k was a hard enough pill to swallow when I bought the big dog. If you are recovering from back surgery though I would suggest being careful about your selection and perhaps look at dual suspension bikes or a hard tail you can put a suspension saddle post on. The suspension in the rear might help absorb energy that your spine would otherwise have to absorb. I chose the ebike for the same reason though. Increasing activity to improve muscle, flexibility and rehab old injuries. I also wanted something I was confident could get me home if I couldn’t under my own human power.
      Yes, I am a Biblical Christian. Saved by the blood of Christ. He is my everything.

    You do not shift while going up a hill.

    • @nowherehomesteady
      @nowherehomesteady  Рік тому

      Kinda hard to do that one handed while holding the camera. I picked up new cameras and have a much better setup now which allows me to do that.

    • @nowherehomesteady
      @nowherehomesteady  Рік тому

      Also, I actually did down shift… listen at the 2:50’ish mark when I’m trying to go up hill and I’m holding the phone with my fingers. You’ll hear the gear shift.
      I’ll be honest though, I’m not sure if you’re trying to say that I shouldn’t shift while going up hill or if you’re saying that I’m not doing it. Feel free to clarify if you want.

    Big dogs are weak when it comes to hill the shear weight of it makes it a poor e-bike for conditions like this. Try zebra or cruiser

      Meh, to each their own. Bought what we bought for specific reasons. If I was looking for an easy ride and had an extra grand to spend then yeah, I probably would have. Appreciate the comment but there were reasons I chose the big dog.
