AS a child I prefered the older action figs that were just action figs... later in the 90's almost everything had an "action" like press a button on the back and it did a kick... those were my least favorite type. I think this seems all well and good, but yes does limit the creativity
yeah i agree, im not saying its a bad thing... and actually you could compare it to the attempts they made in the 80s and 90s with light and sound features, heat changing stickers, etc
@@manifestman132most certainly! Kids make their own sound effects when given a toy! This is removing that effort for some of the interaction, which may just discourage them from being imaginative the same way tablets and phones numb the growth and brains of children. Next the toys will play with themselves for the kids to just sit and watch. 🤦♂️
I don’t know. It’s starting to prove the critiques of LEGO systems right when they wrote articles about how “LEGO sets don’t encourage creativity”. While that ignores the facts that both Classic exists, Creator teaches you to build everything, including animals and even surfboards-that actually have their own minifigure piece-and Creator 3-in-1 teaching you how to repurpose available pieces to make your own creative design, it’s not wrong when it comes to this new gimmick. Sound bricks can work great, such as with the Mario sets, but this here? It certainly is removing a lot of the imagination of children. Someone below had mentioned it may be an attempt to sell to brain numb tablet kids, but we saw how the Othersiders (or whatever it was called) turned out. Kids who are always on devices don’t care for LEGO, and LEGO kids don’t care for additional gimmicks that are electronic based, especially if it makes a set more expensive because of it. If they’re only allowed to spend X amount of birthday or allowance money, they’re going to be grabbing a set they can get more for the same price. I don’t know, but this seems contradictory of LEGO and what they represent. What’s in the far future? Minifigures that move on their own using a controller? Maybe they should have started with remote control wheels for LEGO cars before sounds that kids typically make and want to make on their own.
I’m a kid ( don’t hack me ) and I absolutely hate these. Why do we need all these sounds and lights? Just be creative. I’ve never liked when there was added light and sound to play sets, and I certainly don’t like it inside a minifigure. I’m seriously disappointed
I started the signup procedure to see if it gave any further hints. It looks like it might be at least partially an app based play feature including some light and sound bricks and figs with chips. They seem to focus on certain pieces in the images, namely geodes and food so maybe the camera identifies them when linked with the proper electronic mini fig? Copy/paste below is right off the sign up: Do you have access to an iPhone XR or newer, or an iPad Pro 2017 or newer device with iOS17 installed that you can install software on and can be used for the Beta test?
Also is this technicly a return to toys to life? This could also serve as a mario replacment in the future so the interactive stuff continues but we get figs
I was already in love with the big set (and the minifigs / crystal pieces ) ... however if they have these kinds of tech in it ... prices are bound to be too high to warrant buying them unless they are really really good and useful for you ... which is unlikely. Ghimmick sets are always overpriced :( Hope at least these are good for kids.
So what's the story with the ship farting crayola with a wall of decapitated heads? It's based on a movie according to the video but I can't quite understand what he said.
Pharrel Williams is making a biopic but in lego! the set is somewhat based on it and it looks very blacktron but I have no idea what's up with the wall of heads
I have two non verbal autistic boys that love sensory toys. So this would definitely be up their alley. But if they jack the price to much could make it a bad situation for our wallets
I hope its not a long term plan I mean its way more fun to make your own sound effects. If it is long term hopefully its its own thing but it is a kids toy so I guess if they like it then who cares.
While I'll likely only run the sounds occasionally, I would love to have a LEGO porta-john that makes all kinds of rude noises. It makes my inner 8 year old giggle.
seems like lego is attempting to overcome the fact that kids today are too overstimulated by screens to appreciate traditional lego play
Bricks like this will give more life to the sets. I feel like this is positive news.

No thanks
Agrred I think some of these hinder imagination more then help.

Ok Boomer 🙂
Hey, I’m an alpha
hack 'em, John!
Please don't do it John. I was just kidding around 🥺
so we're bringing back sound bricks from Alien Conquest?! that's so cool!
getting big dimensions vibes here and I'm loving the Max Rebo guy
sounds like maybe an extension of the super mario sets? interactive brick may be like mario, reacting to NFC tags in the ‘interactive tiles’.
You could even do them in stickers.

Those city sets look really interesting but as you say the cost could be a lot more

Them Star Wars sets look Brilliant

@@Xeorboom Thanks I looked it up, it's called "Piece by Piece"
I'm glad they're going to be adding more electronic bricks. It'll be really cool seeing them bring it to more themes.
First comment, then watch the video

I hope the kids enjoy them!
But personally, I don't really like toys that make sound...

That’s my concern, what the price would be
Light and sound has always been a part of lego town as well as space. It is about time they bring it back. But it doesn't have to dominate the theme.
These sets are game changers. The Lego toilet is a diaper changer.
I hope its not a long term plan I mean its way more fun to make your own sound effects. If it is long term hopefully its its own thing but it is a kids toy so I guess if they like it then who cares.
That interactive sound stuff is kinda cool, just imagine it in other themea like star wars
