I had the Hat at a different location. It was great. We had no idea of the portion sizes. We ordered Onion rings, and chili cheese fries. Just one order of either one would have been enough to feed the whole family haha.
Love this series! Your showing the old places that have old favorites and are still popular today. Plus the added "hunger factor" after watching is unbelievable! Thanks for sharing an old staple of Americana.
The Hat is arguably my all-time favorite burger and fries. The chili fries are a must if you ever go again, BUT, here's a pro tip (unless you like soggy fries), get yourself an order fries and a side of chili instead of the chili fries. This way the fries stay nice and crisp and you can dip as you go. The chili fries are a big soggy mess that can still be tasty, but the crispness of the fries is completely lost. Big fan of your channel, Mr. Woo.
ADAM, looking at patio seating, the "dine in" was correct. Only certain tables were blocked off for social distancing (go back and look). You could have eaten there. Glad you went to park though! Take care buddy!
It was a special treat to go to the Pasadena location after a party with my local native friends and get the pastrami, the onion rings ( which are the crispiest in LA, and some lemonade.

I showed him this video and he said remembers always wanting to go to The Hat, but my grandparents never let him 😂 He also remembers visiting Almansor Park almost everyday after school! Anyway, great video Adam!
The chili fries are a meal in itself. The first time I went there my friend and I could barely put a dent in them. You should also visit Grill Em All. It's in Alhambra as well. They have some of the best burgers. Plus it's Heavy Metal themed.
I love that you brought your own chair so you don't have to deal with wet/dirty picnic tables. Now you just need to get a TV table and you're set! Totally going to do this when I get back to CA in the fall..
Love this series Adam! The Hat is awesome! The dip isn’t something they give you, it’s called a dip sandwich because they dip the inside face of the bread into broth (Jus for the fancy) - it is part of why those are so messy but so good!
Oh how I love the Hat. If you had ordered fries it would have been enough to feed 5 people, their portions are ridiculously large, they literally give you a whole separate bag FULL !
California has unique eating places that can’t be found anywhere else. Sandwich looked so good. They know how to make sure you get your money’s worth. Still loving this series. Stay safe out there. As always can’t wait to see what’s next 😊👍👍
Darran Parker My problem is I grew up in the LA/OC area and I’ve been to most of these places, so they aren’t “new” and “exciting” places for me to discover and live vicariously thru the Woo. And he’s missing some good classic L.A. eateries, like Cantor’s on Fairfax and Phillipe’s in downtown Los Angeles.
There's nothing I can eat currently that compares (in the middle of the process of getting some porcelain crowns made) so I have an ever-growing list of tasty treats I intend to try thanks to The Woo. I live in Orange County myself so this is just perfect for me. Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles is very high on that list, and Watson's, though I've been there before. The atmosphere is best there but that will have to wait. If you know someone who loves Farrells but you don't like cymbals and drums every five minutes and know their food and ice cream both taste like dumpster dining, take that friend to Watson's and show them how it's done right.

Chili fries are awesome and so are the onion rings. Next time when you are able to go inside you can get horse radish and chili peppers to eat with it. Also they cut their sandwiches in half while in the first wrapper, so your sandwich stays together while eating.
