    What is the toggle switch on your brake/throttle lever for?

    • @LiveToRoll
      @LiveToRoll  8 років тому

      +Beat98TJ lol I should have explained that so thank you for asking. It is actually a switch to turn on the assisted steering help.. I will make another video explaining it better but basically they make a 50% and a 0% assist. Mine is a 50% assist so I only do half the work of turning the wheel. It's like super power steering and the switch allows you to turn it on when the car is off or dies so that you can still steer the vehicle even when off to get out of traffic.

    I recently had a need for a new hand control as I had purchased a replacement vehicle after 15 years. I soon found out that no provider in my area would do the install w/o a professional certifying I was using the correct equipment and was capable of driving. This despite the fact I have a 50 + yr no accident record and no moving violation since 1967. My son in law offered To do do the install based on a UA-cam video that had seen but when I went to find it it was gone. Bottom line, I paid the price ~$2000. Scam - and they all worked together to make it happen. LTR has provided a great service by posting this

    So happy I found your channel, my name is Jason Joe and am a c6 c7 incomplete sci. I am just about ready to start driving bro it's been a long road since my accident 4 years ago. Just a question about the adaptive peddles, is it easy pressure to applying the brake? Thanks man I hope to meet you some day! 🙏🏼✌🏼

      @LiveToRoll  6 років тому

      Thanks Jason I'm glad you found the channel too! Sorry about your injury but congrats on starting to drive. It will really change your life for the better!
      The peddles are not very hard to push down. If it's hard at first you can work out a little and you'll get there and they have other options that are even easier is necessary. Thanks for the support and feel free to contact me if you have any other questions or need some other advice 👍👊

    do you need wrist functions for the steering?

  • @_Kovayne

    Hey bro, awesome videos! Quick question, do you have any trunk support while driving? Last time I was behind the wheel, I had a tough time keeping balanced and had to use a chest strap. Watching your driving videos make me wanna get a vehicle I can drive.

    • @LiveToRoll
      @LiveToRoll  7 років тому +1

      +Kovayne I don't use any trunk support when I'm driving and I'm able to do that because I lean my the back of my seat down then lean my body forward and almost hold myself up with my arms. By keeping my arm in the tri-pin on the steering wheel and my other elbow on the arm rest and gas/brake lever I'm able to help support my trunk. I know people who drive with a chest strap as well and it works great for them so don't worry if you have to use a strap. Just figure out a way for you to use the strap on your own.

    Thanks for this (and all your other videos)! I have been practicing behind the wheel with my van for several months now, but still feel like I am struggling stregth wise-especially with turns. I have a feeling a lot is technique-at least I hope. Did it take you awhile to get your technique down? I just feel like I am doing something wrong. I'm a c5-driving from a powerchair. Thanks for your help!

      Thanks for the support! I have a couple of things that might help like a cross body shoulder workout and staying as close to the wheel as you can while driving.. I actually also tried answering this in my live stream I did today if you want to go back and watch it too.. I believe its around minute 25 if you don't want to watch the whole long video.

    I have my driving assessment next week I was wondering do you steer or break with your dominant hand? I’m a leftie

    • @LiveToRoll
      @LiveToRoll  6 років тому

      I personally steer with my right and use the gas/brake with my left. I am right handed but I have more function/strength in my left arm. I think you should just see what's more comfortable for you and try that. Have you gotten to try any driving setups yet?

    Hi! :) I am human with cerebral palsy from Moldova. I one and half year fighting for driving license - medics have fear to lose they job and not give me right to learn driving for obtaining licence even I have my own car and drive it. (Sorry for my English - it's not my native language). Can you please tell me - how with this deal in your country (suppose USA?). Thanks in advance. Respectfully, Iaroslav.

    • @LiveToRoll
      @LiveToRoll  6 років тому

      Hey! I'm really sorry you're having to go through all that for your driver's license. Here in the US it's similar with having to get cleared by a doctor and take a divers test with hand controls. I think it's more common here so they are more willing to get people driving again. The only advice I would have is to try another doctor if possible.. sorry I don't have anything better to help you

    How much do they cost and did insurance help pay?

    • @LiveToRoll
      @LiveToRoll  5 років тому +1

      I bought my van already converted to a ramp van and came with the hand controls as well as my swivel drivers seat. I think they are fairly expensive (maybe a couple thousand) and I'm not sure that insurance will pay for them but you'd have to check with your insurance to find out.

    • @LiveToRoll
      @LiveToRoll  3 роки тому

      Hey dude thanks for supporting the channel! I'm not sure exactly how much they cost but I know having them installed can cost $500+ because of fitting them in. Mine came in my van when I bought it so I've never had to buy them. You can call Mobility Works or Ability Center and try to get a price.
