My local sure grip installer quoted 1200.00 for a rwd Volvo. Not bad considering. Although these are semi-permanent controls which don't switch from vehicle to vehicle except with significant modification.
I've used sure grip for years now BUT they are overpriced for simple steal piping and brackets. If you look at them any handy person could copy the design. As for your Volvo being rwd I dont understand what that would change inside the vehicle. I drive a Corolla which is a fwd and my wife has a Dodge Dakota which is a rwd truck and both have the same exact sure grip controls. My controls cost $900, installed, which I still feel is a rip off. But hey, handicapped people are always taken advantage of so what's new? Lol. And anyone can challenge me but why would a manual wheelchair cost as much as a car? Because companies know we need it. Same here with hand controls. 1200 Brian? Really? And of course they probably gave you excuses such as rwd. By the way, spinners are a no brainer. I have use of both hands/arms but a spinner gives me the ability to turn quicker without taking my other hand off my gas/brake.
By the way, goog luck Brian. I hope you get the best setup without being taken for a ride (no pun intended lol). I live in NM and went to a company in town called DVR, which paid the full price for the first set. Paid out of pocket for second set which was fair. Google for local nonprofit companies that offer help people with disabilities.
@@Roller76 I know this comment was three years ago but I felt like adding to your comment. I am a left leg amputee what prefers to drive a manual transmission. There are a few options for me. In the past I used a very simple manual hand control on the clutch pedal, a cane zip tied to the pedal. There is also a "duck clutch" setup and "auto clutch" which are both electronic devices that use an electric actuator to depress the clutch pedal. The "duck clutch" is a simple finger operated electronic lever. The more you squeeze it the more clutch pedal travel you get. I have seen estimates at $4000 and more for this setup. The auto clutch is a more automated version of the duck clutch with just a button on the shifter you push when shifting gears, it automates the clutch pedal based on gas and brake pedal use. if you depress the brake it quickly depress the pedal, let off the brake and it release pedal to the bite point, press the accelerator and it slowly releases the pedal. I have seen estimates for $8000 for this system! No way either of these systems cost more that $500 to manufacture!! Even if its $1000 it's still a ripoff!!
Guys this is marvelous you guys are outstanding😊
Awesome video and great piece of equipment.
