    WARNING: Never forget the flat cable under the battery. When you push something under the battery to get the battery out, please do it from the left side of the axon. That cable is for the display to work!

    I was wondering has the battery maintained its ability to hold a charge, and does it still charge quickly? Have you replaced this phone if so with what?

      I ended up putting another in after a year. I was fairly hard on the battery. I still have it and use it as it’s still a great phone but I did move to an iPhone 11 for my daily driver as the rest of the people I work with all have iPhones.

    did the battery replacement and that went fine. didn't dent up the casing too badly. but now, the clear apps and the home screen button don't work. any ideas?

      The only thing I can think of is when pulling up the speaker grill that's close to those something happened. On my phone those are under the glass so I am not sure how they would have been damaged ☹️. Did you have trouble getting the grill off? All I could see was the glue and then the plastic chassis under it. You might try removing the grill again and repositioning it. Did you get the little screw's back in. Or is it possible they were over tightened causing the chassis to flex?

      @@yourdiytechlife I tried to take care in not crushing any interior parts when taking off the cover, but something may have happened. Online, I see that problems with the Homescreen and recent apps buttons is very common to this phone. The only hope is to do a factory reset. I have already ordered a new phone to replace it and will do the factory reset to see if I can salvage the ZTE to use as an overseas travel phone.....it was great while it lasted. 😢

      @@hillcountryhick4639 let us know how the reset works. I just don't recall seeing a ribbon cable or anything else under the grill that would cause issues like that. I wonder if it's possibly the large cable that goes over the battery that needs re seating. That on did seem to connect the entire bottom board to the top board. It might be worth a try resetting that cable and test it before re assembly. That's the only thing I can think of.

    did you remove the black ?paper ? cover off of the replacement battery before putting it into your phone? I believe it says "warranty void if label removed"

    • @yourdiytechlife
      @yourdiytechlife  5 років тому

      No, keep the wrapping on the battery, the original had a gold color to it but the new one has a black covering that had the CS label on it. Just keep the replacement battery intact. If you are having issues with it fitting then you might have received the wrong battery.

      @@hillcountryhick4639 I haven't tried this yet but I bet a hair dryer could get it plenty warm to soften the glue.

    The SIM card tray fell out while I was doing this. I put the thing back together and the battery is working but I can't get the tray back in. I think I would have to open the thing up again to get it in correctly. I really don't want to do that.

    • @yourdiytechlife
      @yourdiytechlife  5 років тому

      If you are referring to the tray that holds the Sim and memory module then that should be removable by using a pin to push in on the small hole next to the tray. Is it possible to insert a pin or paper clip on to the hole and see if it's jammed up a bit? I don't recall having any issue with mine. Did it just fall out during disassembly?

    • @rick12373
      @rick12373 5 років тому

      @@yourdiytechlife It fell out during disassembly. Putting pin in it no longer works. Doesn't really matter I suppose because the main purpose of this phone for me is to control my GoPro, so I don't need the SIM card for that.

    • @yourdiytechlife
      @yourdiytechlife  5 років тому

      @@rick12373 that's the first I have heard of that problem so I won't be much help on it but it almost sounds like the mechanism is stuck in the release position. The only thing I can think to do is try to install the tray without the Sim and just work it back and forth to see if you can loosen the mechanism up. On the other hand if you don't need it you might be better off leaving it alone so you don't accidentally damage it.

    Replacement battery capacities accurate?

      @yourdiytechlife  5 років тому

      If you mean is the replacement holding up like the original, yes. Its been holding a charge actually better than when I got the phone new. I'm sure that will start to drop but it's been great so far.
