I have a GWL11US top loader washer that leaks water only on the spin cycle. Any ideas what is wrong?
There is also a lot of water once you open the lid to take the clothes out. Never was like that before. Seems like the washer is sending in water when it is on the spin cycle.
Years ago I had problems with the valve that controls the flow of water when the washer was being emptied, it was a fairly easy job to replace and it fixed a similar problem. That’s the first place I’d look in to. Unfortunately I didn’t document it or make a video but I bet there’s more info out there on that. I’ll take a look when I get a chance and see what I can find.
The water only comes into the washer while it’s doing its final fast spin. The water flies out of the washer and onto the floor. Seems like the mother board is sending the signal for water when it shouldn’t Very confusing. Appreciate any insight you have.
What’s going on here?
We have the very same 240v model, and I've had to replace those microswitches now two times. They might be undersized for the current that's going through them, as the connections on mine show heat degradation. I bought a multipack of those switches rated higher, and haven't had a problem since the last replacement. I've had two other problems that might help folks out. The obvious one is the fuse that blew and had to be replaced. Not knowing I could do it from the front, I pulled this extremely heavy microwave down (hinged clips on the back are tough to manage) to replace it. Unrelated to electronics, the door became hard to open/close. Grease on the clips didn't help, but a small spray of WD40 made it close and open like new. The latest issue (2024) was a bit of an odd one. The display had dimmed over time (and that typically points to a tired display or capacitors). One day, it started to flicker and go out. Unplugging the unit breathed life back into the display for an hour or so, then it would go out. Then, it would come back on, then out again. I took the unit down, and pulled the control board. While my unit's control board heat sinks are secure, there is a cluster of capacitors near them that I thought might be suspicious. Using my Capacitor Wizard, I found one that measured bad, pulled it, and it measured as two diodes on my M-Tester. It was a 25v 220uf electrolytic. As I'm quite used to re-capping audio equipment, I re-capped this board (only the electrolytics), re-installed it, and (actually to my surprise) the display lit up bright and working. As this is an expensive microwave to replace (if you want an Advantium, which I really like), with the new 240v version running over 2 grand, fixing the control board with a simple re-cap (total cost was less than 5 bucks in parts), is worth doing. Thanks for posting your original repair. Yet another thing to look for when these stop working.
Excellent info and thanks for sharing. We still use ours every day and love it, the cost of replacement is very high and there not hard to work on so fixing is definitely the way to go. I haven’t run in to that problem but I’m sure I will at some point so thanks for sharing that fix.
I have the same symptom but my door can unlock just fine. If I switch the power doors off and try to pull open, the door comes out like 1/2 inch and doesn’t want to continue… this is probably a latch issue then right?
If it’s unlocking ok then it’s definitely not this problem. The next place I’d look is the upper rollers on the back of the door that go bad frequently but there ares so many things that can go wrong on these doors that would just be a total guess. Hope you find your problem and there’s lots of videos on how to fix those roller guides problems.
still have qrx 7500 , that I purchased in navy over seas 1974 .
Dan I cant see where the yellow and black wires go. In your video i see the yellow wire to the copper cable. does the black also solder to the same copper cable?
Hey there. I just noticed your comment and yes. All three are soldered to the copper flexible flat cable. Holding the flat cable up with the solder pads towards yourself the red wire goes to the left pad the yellow wire goes to the top right pad and the black wire goes to the bottom right pad. Hope that helps. Also. Make sure it’s all insulated when you reassemble.
Very good vid. You crushed it dude:-) One additional thought. On mine, the tabs on the pump impeller that engage and turn the spinning filter were badly worn and not evenly. I reshaped what was left and put a new filter in it. I lasted one year. It would be very beneficial if they would sell an impeller to go with the new filter. As I understand it, you can only get the impeller if you buy the motor. Word to the wise, if your filter is trashed and the impeller tabs are badly worn, the repair may not last long. Also note that the drive faces of those ears likely need to be very evenly spaced for the filter to not wobble and last.
Ours has 230000 on it spent thousands in repairs. All.becauae of vcm. But no one ever agreed. Now im sick of it for.sure. eco mode sucks.
@@peacefuloutlaws I'm not a mechanic but after researching these systems a bit a cross many brands of vehicles, they ALL cause majore problems with the the engines over time. Fortunately Hondas are fairly easy to disable.
Another thank you. Luckily my thermal fuse didn't blow, just needed to replace the internal screen (which collapsed and seized the pump impeller). It's incredible how fine of a mesh screen is used. Almost seems designed to fail as there is no other filter for large particles.
I'm glad it helped and incouldnt agree more about that filter. Just a terrible design. Hopefully they went away from this design in later models.
I would like to add here. There are 3d printed motors being sold on Ebay, total scam. Watch for those that have larger than original impeller blades. The motors are marketed as "used" justifying a low price but they are actually 3d printed, with no scuffs whatsover but the impeller area to sit in pool of water is not re-created like the original rendering them totally useless. The design does not allow for forceful sideways into the drain expulsion of the water. wASTE OF MONEY AND SCAMMERS RUNNING FREE
Thanks for the heads up, too bad the scammers are out there but at least we know now.
When tightening the outlet and the plenum. how much should it be tightened down?
A friend with a 2013 Pilot recommended this so i looked into it. My 2006 Odyssey with 192k runs like new, no plug fouling, intact motor mounts, no oil use and gets up to 26 mpg. Therefore I've decided against this modification. Is there something about newer models that leads to the problems mentioned?
Yes, Many of the older models don't have vcm so this would not be an appropriate modification for them. My 2010 has it BUT my sisters 2008 does not so it wasn't needed for hers. The problem comes down to, when vcm is activated there are changes with how the engine works that over time will damage the engine. For details check out the vcm thread on the Honda forums.
So the bar is not supposed to be in that mount? Mine is and am having issues. Where should it be?
@@mikepetran775 you really need the bar to lift all the toobing so it doesn't get bound up, what happens is that the mount for the bar can become corroded and or out of place. I had to take it out and clean it up so it works properly
It’s hard to follow with just a damn picture. You should of shown a video .
Thank you! My lower dishwasher drawer wouldn't close, we had family coming to stay, and we knew we wouldn't be able to get a repair technician to come out on a Saturday. We followed your instructions to remove the drawer, fixed the issue that was keeping it from closing, and had everything back in working order in just a few minutes. Your video was a great help. Thanks from Ohio.
@@BrickHouseonMain outstanding 😄 love to hear these kinds of stories. 👍👍
2012 Cadillac CTs coupe awd front passenger side clunking when accelerating at the light anyone have any idea
My first guess would be the CV joint or possibly something further back in the drive train like the transfer case or one of the drive shafts. take a look at the CV joints and see if one of the rubber boots are torn and if so thats most likely the issue. I've also heard on the caddy forum that the shaft between the transfer case and transmission can fail sometimes. I dont have FWD so I don't know that FWD system at all but thats where i'd start.
Thanks so much for this video. You saved me from buying a new dishwasher. Luckily it did not get in the motor. Again, thank you, excellent work.
You are very welcome and i'm glad it saved you some cash :-).
Mines doing the same thing but I have brembo
There’s a good chance they use a similar spring on those calipers so it might be worth checking. I’ve never worked on Brembos but just in case I would double check all the caliper mounting bolts and slides and so on just to make sure it’s all ok. Let me know what you find with that.
So you have to pull out the whole washer to get to the filter? There’s no other way to get to it?
Unfortunately that’s the case. I DONT think they anticipated this filter causing problems at all but unfortunately it’s a real weak point for this washer. Had I known when I purchased I would have gone with another model but that’s how people learn I suppose.
Why didn`t Yamaha use for example like a cpu socket on this DSP chips. Much more easy to replace them. And the contact would be much more stable! Got myself a Yamaha RX-A3040 receiver. Two identical DSP chips on that one. The known error is that the sound cuts out for a few seconds and the display of the speakers disappears from the screen of the receiver. This only happens when running digital sound. Netflix etc. If you run analog sound, the problem disappears. I first sprayed the entirely digitalboard with Wd-40 spray. And used a toothbrush to clean the entirely digitalboard and chips. Then used a cloth on the chips. Then a hairdryer for 2 minutes on the DSP chips. Let it cool down for 10 minutes. Then I put Honeywell PTM7950 Super Highly Thermally Conductive Pad on the chips. Problem solved. No more sound cuts.
Money money money. Every little piece of hardware used inside hits there bottom line and doesn’t help sell the product so your left with problems that are hard to fix. Shops just swap the boards and chuck em if they fix them at all.

Awesome. I had no clue where the battery was supposed to go or how small it might be. Thanks! I knew I could find what I needed but on UA-cam 😊
Why not just use a Bluetooth adapter?
You absolutely can but I was looking for more functionality I.E. I use it with my other Arylic devices in a whole home audio system and I like to use some of the streaming services built in rather than stream through the phone. Ive also found Blutooth to be problematic, many times it has issues as I move around with the phone, and I have weird interactions with other bluetooth devices I use. At any rate I prefer the connectivity from WIFI rather than bluetooth.
Have you ever tried to correct or fix the problem of VCM system with check engine light on?
I have not, have you scanned the system to see why the check engine light is on?
I have Honda Odyssey 2006 and on 100 ohm resistor Vcm was coming on; I install 120 ohm, now is not coming. I live in Vancouver, BC, not very hot here and now is spring. The temperature at which the cooling fan is coming ON is influence by this resistor or we have another temperature sensor? Thanks.
As I recall there are other sensors that control the electric fans. Ive not noticed any difference in the operation of mine.
Thanks.@@yourdiytechlife
THANK YOU for this! My dishwasher (same model) stopped cleaning dishes despite filling & draining properly. I observed that the water wasn't getting circulated through the spray arms at all. I watched a bunch of videos, this being one of them, to try to get a sense of what was going on. When I did my exploratory surgery and opened up the pump housing, I was surprised to find that my filter got shredded just like yours. I guess this is not an uncommon problem? Thankfully I did not have to replace the motor or even the fuse, and I also did not have to clear the error codes in order for the dishwasher to resume active duty. Your video really helped me understand what to look for. Thanks again!
I'm glad this helped and you were able to get yours going and thanks for the feedback!
@@yourdiytechlife @jennifermccurdy7389 Thank you both for the video and comment as I just had my filter on my KDTM354DSS5 shred which stopped the cleaning. This video helped a lot but it seems that the old part number for the filter is unavailable and the new one does not directly replace W10713298 as stated. The base of the housing is smaller and does not seat properly. The wave washer just sits around the new filter and the tab no longer goes on the outside like the original. I put it back together anyway as everywhere stated it's the direct replacement and it was SO LOUD. I chatted with Kitchenaide today and they were absolutely no help. I am taking the new filter out and putting it into the old housing and hope that works but that should NOT be the case. There are other reviews out there stating the same but Kitchenaide claims there are no issues. I am just curious if you ran into this replacing yours since it seems like the new replacement part first became available in Oct 2023. It's about a 0.5-inch difference in circumference between the old and new filter houses. I'm beyond frustrated with Kitchenaide for both their horrible design to get us all here in the first place and making the solution another problem. And maybe this comment will help others in the same boat.
Oh man, i'm sorry to hear about the filter issues. I did not have any fitment problems at all, it fit right in like the original. I cant fathom how they could make that sort of error but I'm definitely fond of this brand after all the issues i've had with this machine so I understand the frustration. Mine is down AGAIN for a different issue at the moment so I'll probably making another video for this thing. 😒. unfortunately i dont have any insight in to this problem but if I think of something I will post it up.
I've been learning electronic repair, so I can look at a 5500 I bought off eBay about 12 years ago. When I got it unwrapped in smelled. I found out it was it a house fire, & took some heat and smoke. after I went back on eBay to see what "else" he was selling. There was my proof! He was trying to sell the heat wrapped 4 channel records Like someone would want a smoke and heat warped record. I brought to a qualified tech back before prices got so high to have one repaired . He said he tried a lot of things, + switching stuff and all he could figure is the part ( what ever it is that makes it have the effects) computer thing is bad, and he says they don't make that part any more. But I'm retired and have a lot more time . to mess with it.
You might find some parted out ones on eBay, also. There is a site that I’ll have to look up but they specialize in these Sansui’s and they might be able to help out as well.
@@yourdiytechlife coming up this year, I'm going to start to look into it. I'm getting smarter about this sort off stuff, everyday. today I learned how to check bridge rectifier sound s simple but I did a lot of video watching and studding, but not much hands on thats all going to change this year
@@janbill79 Thats Awesome. I don't know if you've found this guy yet but I think this is one of the best guys on UA-cam for older electronics. He mostly works on tube equipment but most of the skills he shows transfer well to the 60' and 70's era as well. I just love watching him work his magic. www.youtube.com/@MrCarlsonsLab
Why not just reprogram the computer to shut VCM off.
You could but that code is highly protected and costs money to get. If you had the code and equipment it would be easy but this method sidesteps those issues.

So you are an engineer ?
I am going to do it your way but… how did you determine you needed 84 ohms when all the kits give you 82 ohms? What year is the vehicle in the pictures? I have a 2006 odyssey and all the kits (really sneakily) say 2007 or newer…due to different shaped ECT connectors- which is why I’d rather do it your way. Is there any reason why different years would need higher or lower ohm resistors? How come you are the only person who seems to have done the vcm disable in a way that actually makes sense? I saw the vcm tuner 2 was $79, maybe because it has an adjustable resistor- ridiculous! Sorry for all the questions- I guess my main question is 82 or 84 ohms???
It’s not an exact science. 82 ohms is within the error margin of 84 ohms and should work just fine. Some vehicles might require slightly higher or lower and it also depends on how warm your climate is so you might have to play with it a little bit 84 ohms works for me. I’ve had several folks say they used up to and over 100 homes in hot climates.
Is this for a 2008 as well
It should be the same however keep in mind My car is a rear wheel drive only so none of the all wheel drive hardware is on my car but it should be very similar.
Hey man I soldered a 1/4 100ohm resistor on the green wire, eco light still comes on, any advice? 2010 odyssey
Did you cut the wire and solder it in line with the wire? That’s the only way this will work so make sure it’s in series and not grounding out or something like that. 100 ohms should be fine especially if you’re in a hot climat. Send me a pic of the resistor and I can see if there are any visible issues. Also. Make sure it’s 100 ohms and not something like 10 or 1. Ohms.
Thank you Dan. Much appreciated.
Very welcome
I fixed mine using this video.

You saved my a$$. Thx man!
Love to hear it!! 👍👍
That is a beautiful unit, a piece of art really.
Sansui really made these beautiful, and I love the way they work and sound.
I tried to follow your system but was only able to find one 82 and another one 03 which came to 85 ohm plug it in and the VSC & check light came on along with P0008 still do not know what went wrong?
Hey John. The first thing you need to make sure of is that you can’t put the resistor in parallel with the sensor. It must be in series with it. A simple way to make sure it’s in series is to only cut one of the leads going to the sensor and insert the resistor between that cut in the wire. Hope that helps.
I have one and willing to sell it. Its in mint condition
