Cynthia Roberts thanks for watching. Printer is still going strong. Paper tray is a bit flimsy but has not broke yet. Thanks for the support and please subscribe!
Thanks for this great video, I love the option when your about to print something that you can choose black or white or color...My current printer runs through ink fast and won't print black anymore so I'm buying a new one and think this one will do great...
ImHokoo Thank you for the comment. My old printer was an Epson. It did not have the option to print B and W either. If I was out of yellow , I would not be able to print a Word document. Very silly, that feature should be standard on all printers. Thank you for watching my video.
Your PCMD thank you. And yes it does have a USB 2.0 port on it. I did not see it at first in the video but after further examination I find it and mention it in the video. Thank you for watching. Don’t forget to subscribe.
* Hi Frank..., Excellent video and very informative, and hope that you do more ! * I just purchased my first computer and looking at Brother LC 3011 ink cartridges' or Brother LC 3013 ink cartridges' for computer. * Question: #1) "Will Brother LC 3013 ink cartridges' (400 pages) fit the Brother MFC-J985DW and Brother MFC-J895DW printers' ?" Looking forward to your response, help and assistance. Thank you.. Mike in Montana * P.S.: Once again.., Excellent video and thank you for sharing.. Mike :)
Frank real good job with all the info. You go a little to fast for me. I have a Apple IPad do you have info on how to hook up to my pad.. my other printers are not compatible for Apple iPads. Thanks Bob
Mine has a flip down door on the Left side (says BROTHER) that is for photo cards and a usb. I put the photo card in but no options came up. Do I have to install more drivers?
Glorypublishers Worldwide interesting question. I’ll tell you how I do it on my mac. I can’t print two sided from Word. I have to export the doc as a PDF. Then open the newly saved file. Then when I click print. Two sided is an option. When I print from the web, two sided is always an option. I only have an issue when printing word documents. Just export as PDF. You should be good to go. I’ll upload a video of that this weekend. Please subscribe so you don’t miss it.
If you mean using the ADF (the thing on the top where it sucks in the paper automatically), it can only scan and copy one-sided documents. It can print on both sides though. Absolutely trash to be able to print double-sided but only able to copy single-sided.
Hi, do you know how to scan from the feeder double sided pages? I'm having a very hard time scanning pages one by one while working from home and I'm wasting SO much time. Thanks!
Patrick Philibosian yes, I misspoke in the video. That's why I put $99.99 in big font on the screen and I showed a close up of the receipt. Sorry for the confusion but I hope you liked the video and purchased the brothers printer. I still love the printer.
MFC's are not as fast as Epson and HP, BUT They do last forever as one of mine is Over 10+yrs old another I sold a little while back for $20 was from about 2004, & still get Ink for it, as MFC doesn't use use ten thousand different Cartridges, I think their up to 7-8 different Numbers now...
I received a fax and the phone line won't release. I have tried unplugging the Brother and the phone and no luck. it says telephone on the screen. When I press telephone and the button with the return button a screen pops up and says Fax start or in black hook. When I press the black hook button it released but then reverted back to line in use. Any solutions? Thank you
erpster79 I did not. My printer is not in the same room as my computer. My old printer did not work well with my iMac. I had that one connection using a usb cable. The old one was an Epson.
YAM L And yes. I am satisfied with the printer. It works well with my Mac. My Epson did not work well with all the Mac's in my house. No problems at all with the J985DW. Very easy to set up as well.
Good video! I think you got an even better deal than you think. You got the MFC-J985DW XL with an SRP of $299.99. Normally on sale for $229.99. You only paid $99.99, with the store thinking it was the standard MFC-J985DW (without extra ink) with an SRP of $199.00. Normally on sale for $149.99. You scored! How's the printer holding up?
jpharrold yes this was a great deal. It was marked incorrectly at the store. They did not want to sell it to me for $99.00 but there was a line behind me and I put up a little stink. I got the manager and he approved the sale. I'm sure as soon as I left he fixed the sign that said it was 99 buck. Thanks for watching my video!
Denis Roberge yes. The printer came with extra ink. But the ink will go dry once it is in the printer if the printer is not used often. Ink drying out is pretty topical with these types of printers if you dont use them often.
On one of the printer wizard dialogs it said: Make sure that "XXXXXXX + CUPS" is selected in the "Use" list. (Where XXXXXXX is your model name.) Then, when that list pops up, you go: "It says use 'AirPrint'. So we have a couple of options here. AirPrint was automatically selected, so I'm gonna keep it on that. The next selection down is Brother MFC, and then it's the model name. But I'm gonna keep AirPrint, just because AirPrint is what was selected." Wait? What?
Jeroen de Kort if AirPrint caused any problems I would have changed it and updated the video. I’ve had zero issues with the printer. The cartridge that holds the paper is pretty flimsy so be careful with that. Mine has not broke yet. I’m also still on the original ink. All levels are still pretty good. That said I only print a couple times a week. Thanks for watching.
I think mine is out dated .It now needs to download something. To up date this printer ? Now I just don't know what to do.I try to print and it said change print. I'm getting tired of screwing with it.!!!
Ryan Misus in the setting, there are many options to clean internal mechanical features of this printer. Did you go through all of those settings? When I’m home later tonight I can scroll through my menus and see if there is an option that will fix your issue.
Thank you for the comment. It does print a bit slow, but I only notice when Im printing something 20 or more pages. And that is pretty rare. Thanks again for the comment and don't forget to subscribe to my channel.
If your looking to print photos or graphics, I would go with a higher end printer. If your just printing documents, power point slides abs recipes, then there’s nothing to complain about.
I have to give it to you that was one heck of a review very concise and easy to follow and I’m not buying a printer just enjoyed your presentation.
Thanks. Nice to have someone to walk through this! Happy printing!

Frank Guest Thanks! I have a 3 year warranty. Got mine for $124, but they’re running up to $330!
An excellent and thorough explanation of how to set up this printer. Thank you.
Thank you for the kind comment and for subscribing to my channel.

It does have USB 2.0 on it. Its next to the Ethernet jack. Pull the plastic tab out.

Eliza Flo you do watch my videos! Yes, honey was a wonderful dog. Probably the best we will ever have.
Of course I do. How could I not? I know how important they are to you.

I'll have to check, I don't have a problem printing form my iPhone. I will let you know.
Great video, but mine didn't go so smoothly. Where do I find FAQs?
Los cartuchos se compran o se pueden rellenar ???

Thanks so much. The video was helpful.

you said $199.00 both times as what it was marked in the store and as what it rang up for?

Can I use this for business pourposes?
How's the print quality for black and for color?
Thanks for helping
I wonder if you tried connecting the MFC-J985dw printer with a usb cable to your mac
erpster79 I did not. My printer is not in the same room as my computer. My old printer did not work well with my iMac. I had that one connection using a usb cable. The old one was an Epson.
Can you have a wired connection to internet on this?
Hi,
This printer has the duplex scan function (from the ADF)?
Are you satisfied with this printer?
YAM L It will print on both sides but not scan on both sides. That would be a nice feature if it did. Thank you for watching my video.

jpharrold the printer is great. It works great with my Mac's, PC's and mobile devices. Thanks again for watching.
Is it true that this printer come with 2 year of ink ?
And those it have something to prevent ink to get dry and stuck if not use often ?
Denis Roberge yes. The printer came with extra ink. But the ink will go dry once it is in the printer if the printer is not used often. Ink drying out is pretty topical with these types of printers if you dont use them often.
Anyone know how to turn off the fax transmission report that is printed?
I don’t. But I can look into it.
@@FrankGuest Used Brother's chat feature and got answer. Thanks for looking.
Is the casing plastic?
teri graham Yes, it is plastic.
Is this printer available in ph or in us only?

I load the paper, press ok, and it says the roller need to be cleaned. Anyone else have that issue?

LOL. Your right.

How is the color print quality?
If your looking to print photos or graphics, I would go with a higher end printer. If your just printing documents, power point slides abs recipes, then there’s nothing to complain about.
