Alot of people worry about what will happen, borrowing trouble from tomorrow. You are a good example because you think about what you are looking forward to! Have some fun every day!😉
Hey Sara! Great spot to be in so hopefully your solitude will stay intact. It’s kind of hard to see with the road dust but it’s looking like your tires are past the halfway mark if not closer to a quarter of the tread remaining. If it was driven exclusively on pavement a dealer would say you could go down to the wearbars which is 2/32” remaining. However, if it’s used for any off-road activity I’d go no less than 4/32” which is an 1/8”. Getting onto standing water or mud will make it slide around. Provided you’re not at high elevations with freezing temperatures you could probably make it till closer to November but it’ll depend on how many miles you’ll be driving. The closer to the minimum you get the more likely you can pick up nails and screws. Just a heads up for you. If you want to be warned about weather in your home area and it works on your phone I often use the weather bug app because it tracks your location and any locations you choose. Since I have an iPhone, not sure about other phones. Talking about your blankie I think it would be funny if you used it during your hot springs visits. Check it out! A lady walking in her birthday suit!🥳 No wait! It’s just a blanket!😏 Me personally, I think it would be fun to have. Okay, I’m willing tease you a little but I can’t bring myself to leave certain thoughts up that people might reinterpret outside my intended teasing, lol. BYOB (bring your own blanket) 😉 stay safe, laugh, and have fun out there Sara!
YES !! My Toyota RAV 4 has 2 dents in her hatchback, and a scratch or two on her side's, but at 75,000 miles, she's barely broken in !! But she, like me, is living her best life !!
I have spent every winter in the Colorado mountains since I retired in 2016, Love winter there, fun skiing and winter hiking. Never thought of going during summer, thanks for the summer view of the mountains!
"Live like you were dying", is about Tims dad Tug McGraw a baseball pitcher who became estranged from his family traveling a lot for baseball. Keep up the good work. Love ya.
It was great to hear you say that you & your homestead wasn't ravaged by the desert monsoon Sarah! You are very brave to live in that arid zone, near sea level. You sure are correct about the peril energy providers put residents due to "routine scheduled maintenance," especially while they're stuck in the valley of death during the summer. Perhaps you could make a video that exposes the imbeciles that have scheduled the routine maintenance during the height of the heat. Dimwit exposure would help those who might be vulnerable (perhaps next summer). Since you make your living as a travel videographer, you are also by nature the local news & entertainment reporter for your community. A star has been born! 🤩I live in the New England Appalachian Hills & I love your travelogues, especially when you show off your perfect stems. 🤗 😘 ❣
Sarah Sarah , Oh wonderful Sarah. I couldn't agree more that is such a beautiful view of our amazing country. Just an astounding, fulfilling, and beautiful campsite. Your a lucky girl. But all your followers are luckier. Cuz we get to enjoy the adventure, but Then we get to take a hot shower and climb into our warm beds and watch you again as we drift off to sleep with wonderful dreams that you created with your amazing adventures. Thank you for your sacrifices. Thank you for sharing wonderful beautiful places most of us will never make it to. You're the best!
Sarah....on a Saturday...if you actually read this, thank you....Welcome to the beautiful state that I call home, (I live in Colorado Springs, CO) having lived here for over 20 years, this state never ceases to amaze me. If you ever have a chance in the future, I recommend checking out Manitou Springs, Boulder, Durango, Ouray and obviously Colorado Springs. This state is mesmerizing and addicting for those of us who love the outdoors. There are several remote places here in Colorado that would suit you and more your style. Thank you for the bonus video and am always excited to see the next one. Until next time, take care Sarah and stay safe.
I have a Toyota pickup that I bought new (78) the OEM battery lasted right around ten years, it is a Chinook pop-up motor home. Still has the original alternator in it, I also had several other Toyotas and when the alternator would stop working I would just replace the brushes in it myself, also I had a junk yard where I could get a used one for parts, most of the alternators lasted close to 200K miles and then just brushes fixed them. Keep up the great videos and God bless you and your family.
Beautiful camp site. Took I-70 through the Rockies in May of 2021 from Chicago to Las Vegas. I wish I had a month to take my time and see as much as possible. Can't wait for more Colorado videos
Wow! Thanks for the update, Love.😀 Been wondering how you're doing. You sure picked a pretty spot to do your update. Now you know why someone built that place there. Glad your digs at the compound didn't wash away. Thanks again for the update, Cutie...and much love.
I agree with you, a vehicle with a few battle scars from adventures is far better than a decked out one that has never seen a dirt road. Continue on living life.
Yeah Wonderhussy, I just noticed this year that at the midpoint of summer(46 days) it starts to hint of autumn in Colorado. Glad you're enjoying my state, NOW GO BACK WHERE YOU CAME FROM!
I knew you were travelling, but the videos of Vegas and the surrounding areas was unreal. There was a raging river running through the garage at the Linq.
Born and raised in Colorado. I've climbed most of the fourteeners and cycled up Mt. Evans several times. I do miss the front range but absolutely love the Wasatch range where I make my home now. The Salt Lake Valley is getting pretty crowded, but is still set in one of the most stunning locations in North America.
First,,, it's a Toyota. You are fine. (Mine has 159000 on it) You are such a breath of fresh air. Every adventure. I noticed the 'hint of autumn' this morning in Ohio. Be safe Sarah, and safe travels.
Sara, if you ever get the opportunity to go to Rifle Falls, and Little Box Canyon it's worth the trip. On your way you'll see where Cristo, draped the orange curtain on the way to Rifle Gap Reservoir. You can still see the concrete blocks on the mountain where the supports were located. On the way to Little Box, you'll come across on of the largest fish hatcheries. (worth checking out). Side Note; West of Rifle Gap, is what was the former Puma Paw Guest Ranch. Back in the day it was owned by Walter Ganzi (owner of the Palms' Restaurants ) This is where Cheryl Ladd had her wedding way back when. It's a lovely drive, but even a better ride on snowmobiles in the winter. Love your stuff :)
Thanks for the update on the DV compound. Glad you two came out okay. Hope you are able to get some good rest, camping at high altitude. I always had to acclimate for several days before I could sleep restfully.
I'm originally from Massachusetts and I used to love going up to the mountains in New Hampshire. Now I live in Florida which is flat, so when we drive up north we take a longer route that takes us through the mountains and it is just so glorious to see that scenery again!
Just to add to the library of back-country knowledge. (I was raised in Colorado but live in NV presently; we are overlanders) The private lands were originally patented mining claims (circa 1880-1920) that have mostly bought up and morphed into private land holdings, hosting summer (and winter) homes by individuals and corps. The listed owner of the house you showed us is the 'Colorado Mountainview Acquisition Corp a D Corp'. The survey point you discovered was set by Foley and Associates (a local survey company). It is probably a corner of patented (private) land since the Gold King Basin is about 40% privately owned property and geometrically complex. FYI, that small pond you showed is owned by the same corp. Many times when the patented (private) lands are strategically located, the owners can restrict or prohibit traffic on U.S. Forest Service lands. This was just a little FYI if your planning more "Colorado Rocky Mountain High". I would recommend a visit to the La Plata Mountains near Durango, (home of my youth); beauty and quiet. BTW - Death Valley is one of my favorite places on earth; our last trip ('21) was over Lippincott mine road exiting via Steele Pass. This fall we are headed to the Mojave via DV.
There are people who buy mining claims in Wilderness areas and hold them ransom to the Forest service to buy them back to protect the wilderness. Its a scam. Thanks 1877 mining laws. Holy Cross Wilderness I know about.
You are remarkable WH…. I’ve been there and you have SOOO much energy at 11K feet that it’s truly remarkable …. You’re a mile above Denver, and still going “non stop “…. I noticed they even sell oxygen at almost every store in little aerosol cans…. Hillarious!!!
Thanks WH for letting us in your world . SUV still looks good . Being from Ohio , the Western U. S. still has that magical vibes . I been watching The Tao of David and he has feature Northern Mexico The Travels on youtube is my pastime , thanks again , Sarah .
Hope is not a strategy. If you replace your alternator now you'll likely never need to again. If you don't do it now you will have to do it sometime, perhaps at an inconvenient time. My van has 160,000 miles and I replaced my alternator a few months ago. Now I have a new alternator and a spare that works. Love your vids. Safe travels!
Sarah you do a good job keeping your vehicle in good shape. Keep repairing and maintaining it as per the owner's manual recommendations and it will keep working for you. Now is not a good time to buy a new or even a used vehicle. It's good to see you enjoying Colorado.
Sarah, it would be so fun to watch if you did in fact dance around, yodel, and sing next time you find yourself crowded in by another camper. Watching their reaction would be great entertainment! Of course, when done, tell them what you're up to, and that you would normally act in this fashion when alone, but decided to share the experience with others to get their response. 😁👍✌
Was out there 4th of July week. Climbed mt Elbert from Half moon campground. It was simply breathtaking in more ways than one. I have to say that the difficulty of the climb was not that bad, other than having some elevation adaption issues. The White mountains in NH are steeper and more difficult on the legs. Seems that the trail builders in the west cleverly used switchbacks thru the easiest pass. Where as in the east they went strait up the toughest shit. Nice video. Can't wait to go back to Colorado.
I agree, and prefer direct routes. When I was in my 30s, I'd hike up Huntington Ravine to the peak of Mt Washington, then glissade down to the headwall of Tuckerman's, and pick my way down past the skiers. Descending from the peak to Tuckerman's was prohibited, but it's not as if anyone was there to stop 2 or 3 badass crazies. I'm Medicare age now, and think of doing it again, but then I wise up and do things I can actually survive.
Hey I'm in Longmont now! Got outta Ohio! Going to go visit Twin peaks as soon as I finish this job. And of course Leadville to see where my relatives came from. Great grandpa was a lead miner. Got hitched in Pueblo. So a little history to dig up. Gotta love this Rocky Mountain High! 👍🇺🇸✌️
You make me smile from ear to ear! I went to see my son in Colorado and boy oh boy I could move there in a minute! I felt your excitement as I did mine❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Love, Love, Love Colorado ❤️❤️💗💗❤️
Soon 22 will be in the books I visited a friend of mine up there in Colorado didn't look at all like that place don't worry when you head back up it will still be there
Glad the WH compound and sis are okay. FYI - dashboard lights weirdness can come from many things. Had it happen 3x to 2000 Windstar: First time, it was the alternator; second time, it was the battery; third time was the strangest. Called a mechanic friend. He said it was a gas cap that couldn’t seal and was upsetting the pollution control/emission system. Had it happen very inconveniently on a Sunday night passing thru Palm Springs when auto part stores were closed. Drove the rest of the way to LA with dash flashing, not knowing speed, gas level, etc.
I love Colorado! My family is from there! My mom and her family are from Leadville, and my brother lives there in our Great Grandparents old home, also most of my other side of the family live in Grand Junction, and were from the Uncompoghre Valley, and Montrose/Olathe area.
Wonderhussy you are a true free spirit you are not happy unless you are moving around. Awesome video beautiful scenery 👌 you where finally at a place I have been not that camp site but COLORADO I loved it beautiful scenery every where and PLEASE KEEP THEM VIDEOS COMING 😀 thank you.
Was thinking today..so over the DESERT! YOU FELT ME....Colorado resident & YES! Waiting for everyone to leave to enjoy the mtns...I'm NOT crazy! Hard to find solace here anymore. Been here since 1994 - just moved back to civilization. LMK is hitting Cripple Creek 🎑
Very good video Sarah. Colorado is beautiful. Very different than East Texas. You should do some type of raffle for the blanket. I’m sure a lot of us would like to have it. Glad the compound survived the flood. Stay safe Sarah.
We vacationed in Colorado last year. No one wanted to come home! We went to Pikes Peak too. Kicked my arse! Yes, it is beautiful there. That blanket story🤣🤣🤣
Great video. Beautiful place. Good thing you didn't go to Yellowstone. They flooded too an it took out a highway. I love your town videos. The one with the curlers wss excellent an when you walked away from the hot spring naked was priceless!! Thank you Cheers
You Missed Death Valley Rainy 🌧 Day . The broken Roads. Plus I know Las Vegas is hard up for Water. But I never new that you Gamble for water now,. Thanks for the up date.
You should see it in the fall. All those aspen trees turn yellow and it's so beautiful it looks fake. Twice we've camped in the hills in the fall(drove from AZ) and just happened to be next to the cattle rouondup.
Enjoy Colorado and looking forward to your videos of my home state. If it starts raining hard stay away from that creek. Thanks for the update on your rig and the Death Valley floods.
I like this new content! I would love to see your day to day life stuff. Like you working in the car, routines, cleaning, random short videos of fun things you see on the road.
My 2004 4Runner is at 169,000 I replaced the AC Compressor (cuz it went out in the desert last year), all my belts, checked all my hoses, replaced the alternator, timing belt and the water pump (which had a small leak in it) And my mechanic swear that my battery which is 3 years old is completely fine and I don't need a new one but I'm thinking I'm going to have a backup just in case. It makes me feel reassured when I'm out in the boondocks having everything repaired.
Always do an extensive visual and hands on inspection of your vehicle prior to wandering around. Get a spare engine belt and keep it on your rig. Easier to replace if you have one in the middle of nowhere.Check that the battery is very secure. Sarah Janeh you could lower your tire pressures while off road and it would ride softer.
Go down to South America or Mexico, there are many towns in the mountains with an eternal spring. Enjoy your time here in Colorado, I live close to Durango, by lake Vallecito. If you have the time, go by Pagosa Springs, they have a few springs in town.
If you remember, The waste that was closed off in the GOLD KING MINE. WHEN the EPA went up to check the mine, they released the waste inside and it polluted the ANAMUS RIVER FOR A WHILE AS IT RAN DOWN.
My 2006 Toyota Sequoia has over 243K miles and with regular maintenance and avoiding calamity should easily get another 243K. 150K on your 4 Runner is just getting broke in. You should have no major issues getting the next 150K miles plus more. 😊
9:43 - You have found what is known as a benchmark that is placed by US Geological Survey. It is made of brass and is usually brownish in color and is stamped with longitude and latitude and altitude usually. There are also markings that help to identify the location on a topographical map. Before there was the Global Positioning System, mapmakers had to triangulate known altitudes to calculate new altitude points to create accurate maps. There are brass benchmarkers all over the US and you can locate them on USGS topo maps. They could be used to determine altitude changes due to geologic forces like earthquakes and volcanic activity. Now with GPS technology, they can use GPS receivers to locate map locations. Some people like to "hunt" for these markers and tick them off the maps as a hobby.
@@Jeff-jg7jh I stumbled upon one at the top of Cinnamon Pass which I think was hand surveyed in the 30s. Back in the day, all alone, Wolves howling in the distance, my .357 at the ready. Hoping I could walk out to Silverton if needed. Feeling like I was the only one to be there in a year. Now of course you have to get reservations to go to Cinamon Pass with 250 shlubs and their whiny kids and Eddie Bauers. Yeah I just can't do it any more. RIP Colorado.
The peg that was shown is a (probably) property boundary/corner, recently placed there by a company called Foley and Associates, who I believe are a survey company based out of Telluride. It is an aluminum peg indexed with a number that has meaning only to the survey/surveyors. That canyon is replete with patented mining claims (private land), enough that if surveyors located every property corner, there would be scores and scores of aluminum pegs. If you're a Gaiagps map user you are able to see the proliferation of these private lands. A bench mark (BM) is a government-placed survey marker and is secured in solid rock or cemented permanently in place or otherwise secured permanently. U.S.G.S. BMs display the survey's date, elevation above sea level and its relationship to any township and range survey. BMs set by the U.S Geological survey are located on U.S.G.S. topo maps; the map's name will be noted on the BM, if the map existed at the time of survey. Many of the U.S.G.S. BMs are dated around 1916 in our part of Nevada.
I know how you feel. Once I reach the furtherst point in a trip, I start feeling a certain melancholy, knowing that it is only a matter of days before I turn toward home. The longest I eas ever in the road was three months. And not a day goes by that I din't feel the call of the wild.
Yes, just keep an eye on the Alternator gage and don't worry about it. Matter a fact you could replace it yourself. Just 3 or 4 bolts, 2 wires, just disconnect the battery before replacing. That way you can afford buying the better Alternator.
Alot of people worry about what will happen, borrowing trouble from tomorrow. You are a good example because you think about what you are looking forward to!
Have some fun every day!😉
I'm only 12 seconds in - and I noticed a wave of happiness overcome me as I get to spend a few more minutes with Sara and her Wonderhussy Travels.
It's pot.
She is a delight.

113 degrees today in Death Valley and 115 tomorrow, too cold 🥶!

Nice blanket

I was there on that spot, in my Jeep a few years ago. I couldn’t believe that house out there in the middle of the mountains. Beautiful.
Your be pleased to know a Toyota in Aussie clocked up a million miles recently and the owner was given a new vehicle by Toyota
What a beautiful campsite Sarah! Thanks for sharing it and be safe going home.
Cool I'm a few miles south from Aspen on highway 82 nice little campground welcome to the neighborhood 😀
These are my most favorite videos when you just chat and tell us what’s going on in life… enjoy your last couple days before you head home!

Well, Summer has it's perks, but as an Arkansan...I'm ready for some cooler and less humid days here in the Ozarks. It's been a long hot Summer here.
Hell yes. MO. here.
Come on who doesn't like Wonderhussey. Those outdoor areas in Colorado are so different from anything else in the west. Beautiful no doubt.
Similar to Montana/Idaho.
I still have the stock alternator in my 2004 Tundra. Pushing 165,000 miles. But I worked 8/5 up till 12/31/21...
A natural type of girl in an all natural environment. Very informative, interesting videos and Sarah in her narrative always keeps it enjoyable.
Perfect rendition of those moments in time! Humility is endearing.
Okay, when she said "hunker down", does anyone else watch Camping with Steve? WH needs to try out Canada.
Just to add to the library of back-country knowledge. (I was raised in Colorado but live in NV presently; we are overlanders)

Sarah you do a good job keeping your vehicle in good shape. Keep repairing and maintaining it as per the owner's manual recommendations and it will keep working for you. Now is not a good time to buy a new or even a used vehicle. It's good to see you enjoying Colorado.
You, Sarah are a national treasure in your own right, and yup, Colorado will do that to ya. Safe and happy travels! Durango...
So happy to hear that you, your sister, and the DV compound are ok. WOW, what an incredible camp site!!!!

Gotta love a worn out hussy blanket… you’re doing better than the blanket you used to be. Good for you. Thanks for entertaining me/us !!!
You could probably auction that binky off for a fortune!🤑 Lol!
nicely put !
Your vehicle needs another 100,000 to catch mine; great video; that camp spot ; the views are amazing 😎😎😎😎👌👌👍👍👍👍🤩🤩🤩
Beautiful mountain scenery. Great camping site. Be fun to see your report on Burning Man.
Safe travels Sarah

When I was in my 30s, I'd hike up Huntington Ravine to the peak of Mt Washington, then glissade down to the headwall of Tuckerman's, and pick my way down past the skiers. Descending from the peak to Tuckerman's was prohibited, but it's not as if anyone was there to stop 2 or 3 badass crazies. I'm Medicare age now, and think of doing it again, but then I wise up and do things I can actually survive.
I love my home state so much! Colorado Rocky Mountain high. ❤💙💛
My two favorite UA-camrs Wonder Hussy and Itchy boots both in Colorado at the same time! ❤️😁
06:16 ... I love that you don't even know what the heck day it is. I wanna be you when I grow up!! 🙂
I've worked towards living endless summer for 50 years, throw in a little spring and fall. It's not always easy to go home but feels good to be there.
You make me smile from ear to ear! I went to see my son in Colorado and boy oh boy I could move there in a minute! I felt your excitement as I did mine❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Love, Love, Love Colorado ❤️❤️💗💗❤️
I’m a Colorado native and close to Estes Park! Holler if you get close to this end!
Gold King Mine disaster was one of the largest EPA Effluent release into 4 watersheds which ended up in Lake Powell.
Spectacular is right! Go hike up Pikes Peak out of manitou springs and you can buy a doobee there too! 😆. Thanks for the update! 👍👌
You can rent that house in Gold King Basin. Its called Gold King Retreat and it rents for $2200 a night.
You're a sweet helpful Wonder hussy it's who you are and we love you for it keep on trucking girl
We vacationed in Colorado last year. No one wanted to come home! We went to Pikes Peak too. Kicked my arse! Yes, it is beautiful there.
That blanket story🤣🤣🤣
I know how you feel WH, I’ve been here in the CO Rockies camping for the summer and hate to leave here! So beautiful, peaceful and perfect weather ❤️
Oh No Sound!!😱 Update sounds good now! 👍🏻 Colorado springs is beautiful so danse green amazing trials and view dang on. Lvpeace
The city is a pit.

Keep your eyes open for Big Foot 😉. Very Beautiful Spot you found yourself in!!!
Compound made it back🤣🤣🤣🥳🥳🥳🥃🥃🍺🍺🍷🍷...........and again 🍷🍺🥃, I'm really getting buzzed
You should see it in the fall. All those aspen trees turn yellow and it's so beautiful it looks fake. Twice we've camped in the hills in the fall(drove from AZ) and just happened to be next to the cattle rouondup.
9:22 it's easy to check voltage output on an alternator, if it's putting out 14-15 volts you're fine.
My 2004 4Runner is at 169,000 I replaced the AC Compressor (cuz it went out in the desert last year), all my belts, checked all my hoses, replaced the alternator, timing belt and the water pump (which had a small leak in it)
And my mechanic swear that my battery which is 3 years old is completely fine and I don't need a new one but I'm thinking I'm going to have a backup just in case.
It makes me feel reassured when I'm out in the boondocks having everything repaired.
I agree. What's a little tape if she's running safe. I hope we will be seeing the head waters of the Colorado. I never have. Safe travels.
Yodel on! Your in the great outdoors and it’s a free country. Love your commentary!
A lot done with U 2 areal surveys.
@@rogersmith7396 It's fun to find the real old ones. 1940's and earlier.

Wow! What a view to start with!
Sara glad you and your sister are ok. You are the best! Take care. 😊
Also I absolutely love all of your videos. Thank you from putting a smile on my face while seeing all of your awesome adventures.
Thank you for Death Valley up date.
You bet we were all concerned!
I know how you feel. Once I reach the furtherst point in a trip, I start feeling a certain melancholy, knowing that it is only a matter of days before I turn toward home. The longest I eas ever in the road was three months. And not a day goes by that I din't feel the call of the wild.
I'm sure they appreciated everything you did. Look forward to your videos be safe and careful. You're RV friend
Welcome to colo.there is nowhere I'd rather live I love it here.
Yes, just keep an eye on the Alternator gage and don't worry about it. Matter a fact you could replace it yourself. Just 3 or 4 bolts, 2 wires, just disconnect the battery before replacing. That way you can afford buying the better Alternator.
