- I purchased the new Westman Atelier Lip Suede Matte Lipstick in the shade Je Rêve.
They’re $50 each and they are described as, “A hydrating matte lipstick with a dreamy, airy feel and vivid, clean pigment. Plump, nourish and smooth with a blend of peptides, Vitamins C, E, and Hydro Suede Technology: a volumizing, moisture-locking system that delivers matte pigment without drying or feathering.”
Packaging: Weighted, refillable packaging with a magnetic mirrored cap. It feels very luxurious, but heads up - it’s very bulky. Not practical for me to put in my purse.
Shade: Je Rêve is described as a blushy nude, which could be interpreted a million ways. On the website, the shade looks like a mauve, so when I applied it and saw how rosy red it turned, I was very disappointed. But that will depend on your unique skin tone.
My experience: To me, these are not worth $50. I had the same experience with the Mac powderkiss lipsticks, in that they have that creamy, powdery feel that glides on easily but ends up feeling dry on my lips. The Westman Atelier formula is much more thin and a bit more emollient than the Mac version, but that’s my closest comparison.
My friends have been loving this formula and said it wasn’t drying on them, so this is all subjective! For me to want to spend $50 on a lipstick, I need a moisturizing formula, a blurring effect, and a flattering shade.

I’m not crazy about the thick tube, those kind of lipsticks are always hard for me to apply!

The shade difference is wild! I thought ‘pique’ and ‘rue’ looked more cool toned but now I’m curious if even they would pull warm on me/you
I honestly think the Products are wayyy overpriced!!! I have used the Blush and Contour along with the Highlight, and again honestly I feel ELF Products are BETTER! The Contour is very easy to blend out, BUT again I would pay like $26.00 for a FULL SIZE one, but absolutely NOT worth the almost $60.00 Her crazy Ass is asking for it! Her as in the Owner ( Gucci Westman )! And for those that don't know, the owner of WA Her Name is Gucci, not to be mistaken with the actual Brand Gucci! And you would also think with someone with as much money as she has would look much better than she does.... In my personal opinion I don't think she's taking care of herself properly. She was a makeup artist for the Stars way back when and somehow she feels her products are justified in their price tag, but they absolutely are NOT!!! I have used very expensive brands before all the way down to drugstore products like ELF, and some high-end brands are justified in their price tag, but Her's absolutely is NOT one of them!!! If you're looking for a high-end brand, that I feel their price point is justified, then ( Clé de Peau ) is one I feel IS worth it!

Give it a few days of wear. Like any skincare active, there is a little bit of a dry feel the first few days but then the magic happens... you will find your lips are in better condition than ever. That is my experience anyway. Even after removing my lips are now cushiony soft. Don't throw in the towel.. trust me it is worth it.

Pretty color ,BUT look at how little your getting in that massive ,thick tube . Like what?! Fifty bucks? Yeah NO......

My friend in Milano bought this for 55 Euros-- she reviews them. She said it dries out as well. 55 Euros... I'd prefer to have food... BTW... I've been wearing Chanel lipstick forever... even that is cheaper and has never let me down... It's getting aggressively expensive as well. Love your UA-cam reviews. Cheers!
I’m a huge WA fan but those tube are not it! And you’re right… looks like a regular cream lipstick.
The brands other components knock it outta the park but these are an easy pass for me.
I do enjoy Violette_fr balm …. Packaging is a little cheap but it’s a blurred soft matte balm.
I wish I liked the Violette balms, they made my lips SO dry, but the effect was gorgeous.
I have a few of their products, and while I like the packaging on those when I saw this lipstick come out all I could think about was how inconvenient it looked to carry around. 😅 glad to know I'm not missing out anything formula wise either

Awww bummer! I wish it looked like it does advertised. A lot of lipsticks pull warm on me. I’m on a search for a cool toned mauve matte lipstick. The merit lipstick in maison looked warm in advertisements, but in UA-cam videos I’ve seen it looks even more cooled toned than this one! Lots of people also say it isn’t drying. I may try that one or I’ve been kinda interested in nabla’s matte lipstick in naked mauve

Looks like Makeup by Mario's Ultra Suede Lipstick which is much less expensive. Must say I do love the look, just won't pay the price.
It’s look great but there is zero chance I would spend $50 on lipstick… skincare yes, foundation yes but not just a lipstick…
Not related to this vid, but I don’t know if you tried the NYX Fat Oil Slick Click? They are the bomb. So far I tried No Filter Needed, and Going Viral (nude, and a pink-very pretty shades)
I love some Westman Atelier but when this came out I had such a visceral reaction to the ridiculous size and shape of the packaging that it hurts to look at. Plus for me to even consider spending $50 on a lipstick it better be the most amazing lipstick ever. To me this is a very hard pass. I just hate the packaging soooo much! Someone please tell me I am not alone.

Have you tried the Chanel rouge allure velvet formula? It’s really thin but seems blurring ish and I’d love to know your thoughts if you ever want to indulge yourself a little!!
I haven’t! I usually don’t buy lip products from designer brands because they tend to have a floral scent

Nars matte lipstick balms are cheaper and maybe emphasize lines less…?
There very different, much more sheer. But I do prefer the formula
Bummer about the shade not matching! The packaging sounds nice but oof $50 is a lot. The Lisa Eldridge Velvet Mattes are super blurring but I’ve heard some people think they’re drying, I love them though - Carli
I don’t find the LE lipsticks drying at all personally…they’re one of my fav lipsticks!
I love those lipstick formulas but I've bought 3 now and every one has a broken bullet after just a few uses

@@corajohnson9802 oh no! This happened to one of mine early on, the brand replaced it and since they I just try not to propel the bullet up to far when applying which is super annoying. Sorry this happened to you with all 3!
