He invented himself, and then reinvented popular music. Walt Whitman with an electric guitar as his pen, watching the river flow as a Hericlitean oracle. We have watched him roll past as the longest show on earth, segueing from one incarnation to the next. Like Mark Twain, he is not time bound, but presents a transcendent observation of the human condition likely to appeal to those unborn tomorrow and dead yesterday. We have the honour of sharing this time with him. He is our Shakespeare.
very nice. in the late 60's i thought i understood his words... with time they have deepened. deciphering him through his sentiment, words, openness, spontaneity and commitment he seems like a really good person and an example of a humane human. i am happy for his success and fortunately followed him closely through 53! years. DYLAN.. an autodidactic culturemaker.
So he is "our Shakespeare" in a world that's illiterate. What else can you call it when being "elite" is simply someone who can read. Who reads books. Who can write a sentence.
The poet laureate of rock-n-roll. The voice of the promise of the sixties counterculture. The guy who forced folk into bed with rock. Who donned makeup in the seventies, and disappeared into a haze of substance abuse. Who emerged to find Jesus. Who was written off as a has-been by the end of the eighties, and who suddenly shifted gears; releasing some of the strongest music of his career beginning in the late nineties..... Ladies and gentlemen.... Columbia recording artist... Bob Dylan.
My first show was a Seva benefit (Bob Weir's shirt) with The Grateful Dead and The Band (6/21/84 Canada'sWonderland) . Dylan had excellent taste in musicians.
Mornin Wooly....firstly, BOB doesn't really Sing n Play.....it just happens...He s IT.....a vessel...and then He Sings n Plays....lol.....im hoping to come back next time with Bigger ears and a Smaller Mouth Bro.....I wish i woulda been listening to Him more throughout my life.....cause it ll take a few to pin down his Mind.....just another Miracle.....or Magic!!...BOB....thanx Wooly

1987 dylan and the dead. The real thing. Here's QUEEN ANNE. What Action here. This is Foxboro! Bob is fantastic, Jerry's lead so right in the moment ! #themusicalityofbobdylan Jane L Piepes

Have you seen the giant eyeball at Bob Dylan's live shows? Thats the same eye as the one thats on the 1 dollar bill. I'll leave you to figure out whether that's a good or bad thing.
How did one of the legitimately greatest folk guitarists of the 60s become such a mediocre, shitty player just a few years later? And what happened to his voice? I know these are questions for the ages and don't expect any answers. Just wanted to put the questions out there.
Bob, went through a rough time with substance abuse. This was recorded during that time. The song was written years before and stands the test of time. He cleaned up and had done many performances since and redeemed himself and his gigantic, once in a millennium talent!
Awful period for Bob. Versions of 'Queen Jane' with The Dead have been described as having 'wrecked majesty' but it's just wrecked, surely? Can there have ever been a more lumpen, sub-pub rock 'great' band? The Grateful Dead were just bloody terrible.
Dylan his the most fearless, bravest , & interesting artists ever, an absolute stand alone one off

Bob with Gerry's instantly recognisable Dead sound. Love it ! Thanks so much woolhall

Two stars, one from the sky and other from Earth on stage. Thank you Woolhall.
There are lots of people with a better voice than Bob Dylan but very few sing better than him
I am 66 and that was new gbu
like caruso.... Hey breath is breath.
The whole saying bob dylan can’t sing is so played out and stupid
I know exactly what you mean.
My first show was a Seva benefit (Bob Weir's shirt) with The Grateful Dead and The Band (6/21/84 Canada'sWonderland) . Dylan had excellent taste in musicians.
Massive tour de force by Dylan here, ably accompanied by the greatest jam band of all time.
*greatest band of all time.

This is good. It's like Joan Crawford sings the blues or something.
wow !
Christ Jesus, God in the flesh, dying for your sins is a great example of seva. God bless you
Thank you woolhall for uploading this
Christ, Jeus, God, sins, seva. A lot of empty words that you ought to empty yourself of.
I don't think the date is correct here. 4/7/87???? Maybe 7/4/87

Not sure Dylan was ever a great guitarist. And didn't take care of his voice, obviously.
There's only so far the Merle Travis style can go.
it ain’t opera
