  • Graeme takes a crack at fishing but ends up admiring the colours of the autumn leaves, and who can blame him as the beech trees are turning gold as this film goes up…Then he digs through his backlog of files and finds an interesting seafaring Museum with original artefacts from a bygone time of sailing. From there it’s off the check out the Godshill area, and he doesn’t stop there after dropping in to see Mark at Todber fishery to look at bivvies and fishing chairs. Finally its into the Totally Awesome workshop for a D.I.Y. tip…Enjoy this midweek filler film…

    Hi Graeme,
    Just a catch up.
    One thing i have learned from you is that your not afraid to fish with dead baits and film it where others just use lures. For sure that's your knowledge and experience that really shows what can be achieved. I haven't fished really this year as i have had a tough one with a lot to deal with on the home front. I am working on securing a permanent driving job at the minute and if it works for me i will be able to concentrate on enjoying time to go sea fishing instead of trying to pay huge bills in short spaces of time.
    Your channel is always a great escape no matter what you have going on in your life and i really appreciate your honesty, integrity and just you being you Graeme.
    Steve in Fife.

      Hi Steve, hope you get the job. Yours scissors and knife still in operation,its a wonder I haven't dropped them over the side..!...I think we all know what you mean about bills,they seem non-ending and escalating in charges. Lets hope you get your new driving job sorted,and of course secure a bit of time for fishing. My fishing is on the shelf for a while as I really have to knuckle down on admin stuff which I hate,and just let build up,which makes it even worse. But seems I am not missing much on the fishing front. Beach trip..a blank...a pike trip on a guaranteed lake (?)...blank. But I
      did go with Mike a few nights ago on the beach for his T.A.~Outdoors channel and we scratched a few fish out. Had a beach fire as well. Good luck with it,and stay safe...

    Was doing the exact same blanking on a canal but with weedless lures the other day up here near York. Did better getting chub from a 2 1/2 foot deep small river 2 mins from the house. Thanks Graeme, enjoyed this.

    Great video Graeme, Cowes was home town for me, travelled on the floating bridge every day to school nearly 70 years ago now, great memories, did a lot of sea fishing back then too.

    This video was great , as I got to see my homeland !!! You were lucky to see the floating bridge working 😂 normally it’s stopped for repairs or maintenance! Such a shame the weather stopped you seeing the place in its real beauty. Carisbrooke castle you would have enjoyed mate. Thanks again for this one Graeme appreciate your efforts.

    I've lived within walking distance of the Basingstoke Canal my whole life and very rarely had any success when fishing it. Have fished it a couple of times with dead bait for pike over the last 3 or 4 years and found a couple of places where they hang out, but lots of promising looking swims just draw blanks. The same with summer carp fishing. But it's still a lovely canal to walk along and I do that with my dog more often than actually fish it.

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  3 дні тому

      Same with us....Autumn is a great time to walk it, the colours on the Beech trees can be outstanding.

    We'd love a peaceful local canal where we live!
    Full of canoes, paddle boarders, the lot. Hopefully as the weather cools down, people avoid the water🤣🤣
    Pike fishing the canal always seems to be so hard going as well! Frustrating, but its always good to be out

    Still enjoyed it Graeme . Down to earth fishing . No pretence. And the History and interesting things you show us. Never boring. Sorry you did, nt catch . But canal looked lovely , different from concrete banks . Get what you mean about falling leaves , have a big tree in the garden that sheds loads of leaves in Autumn , I have to clear them up. Keep going👏👍.

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  3 дні тому +2

      We did a mega load of leaves literally today. Never known so many but I think its the lack of wind that normally blasts them away so they are just falling straight down..Also no Conkers and no Acorns on any of our trees this year...Why is that ?..Is the end of the World coming ?

    Cool vid mate, i love fishing the canal, spent some years finding out where the action is. Ive had, pike, perch, roach, bream, ruffe, hybrids, a 10lb mirror carp caught with a net, a crayfish on bread, a terrapin and a duck unfortunatley. Liquidized bread, worms and maggots never dissapoint, i like fishing with spinners and swimbaits too. Jigging on the bottom works really well for perch, but i find it too tedious. Thanks for sharing ❤🎣

    Problem with our local canals is as soon as you find a good pound, they empty it for repairs. The towpaths are busy with cyclists, dog walkers and what we'll politely call eccentrics, who want to talk loudly at you while casting a shadow over the cut killing any chance of a bite.

    30:06 - I do this with degreaser for my bike chains. I soak the chain in a small jar of degreaser then decant the dirty solution into another jar and leave it for a few days to let all the dirt settle to the bottom. After that you can either skim the top to take off some of the other contaminants before decanting the cleaner degreaser into a clean jar (pour slowly but dont empty the dirty degreaser out into the clean jar! you want to separate the dirt from the degreaser!) but I honestly dont bother. Ive reused the same degreaser to clean my chains many times and as long as it still works I'll keep reusing it. Im still using the same 5L tub of degreaser I bought back in 2017.

    High pressure, no rain, no wind, no sun! weather is weird has been for the last few weeks. Doing great just about a month and over, chub and barbel on the Trent no problem. Sun goes along with the wind nothing, nada, zilch for ... Three weeks going 3 times a week. Genuinely weird on the Trent, hear of others ( great anglers as well blanking after 2-3 day sessions). Others getting piles of low weight barbel. It's just weird. So Graeme. Sorry pal. You have had to come down to our mere mortal level.
    Also. The other stuff you show us, visits to fairs, events, Grants shop, today Todber. I honestly love it... Thank you Sir... We used to have Jack Hargreaves back in the early 80's giving and informing us all of similar stuff to what you (and Mike does occasionally with his building of years gone.) show now as Jack did with 'Out of Town' and 'Old Country' series. There is a link by the maker of those shows I can give.... Anyway... Just saying it's a huge interest of what you do and provide, very much loved and appreciated.

I thought it was a real gem...and free. !!...I thought it might be a good omen at the start of a holiday where I would fish on the South of the Island,unfortunately the weather had a whole different idea,so it was tourist time for us...more films to come ,including the fishing attempts.

      Definitely fewer insects in one car journey on my car this last two summers BUT we are finding insects seem to be spread out over months we would not expect. Unfortunately that includes midge and ticks but that's nature.
      Birds seem to be numerous and otter seems to be feeding well.
