This should be the top pool channel of all time period. It's almost the only one I watch for learning the physics and strategy of billiards. Thank you Brian for creating unbelievable content and I hope to watch you compete someday
Let's be honest, this channel DESERVES way more followers. However it's also nice to ask a question and actually get a response. Been here since the beginning and I'm riding this wave the whole way FXB! Thanks for the knowledge and time you put out for us.
You’re right they are not worthy of this information but it’s OK. They’re too sad and hate themselves too much to use it anyway. Yeah I’m in a mood tonight. lol. I find the jealous little boys entertaining. Don’t bother yourself with them - thanks for watching
You see your lessons are making me think about deflection, spinning induced throw, and so on! Oh! Don’t worry I’ll have plenty of great questions for you. Your student steve
2:20 YES, I appreciate the term 'compensating' as opposed to aiming to miss. I want to focus on the pocket while understanding the effect of deflection on the cue, and throw on the object ball with respect to my stick, speed, and stoke.
I always shy away from inside. Watched this last night and then played this morning. Had an 8 ball up the long rail. Played it with top and inside and went 3 rails to be perfect on the 9 ball. Thank you much for making me change my approach.
Great video 🎉. Inside outside all sides.... That cue ball is on a string 😂..... Great stuff my friend.... Thanks for opening our eyes to what is possible..... Now it's time to work on it.....
Love your videos. At 0:56 you say it can be confusing sometimes which is inside and which is outside. Here’s how I think of it: Outside is when you are spinning the cue ball in the same direction you are cutting the object ball. Inside is the opposite. So it’s nothing to do with being along a rail, or the side of the cue ball closest to the object ball. It depends which way you are cutting the shot. In your first example at 0:32, your cue ball is to the left of your object ball, which you are cutting to the right. Therefore, for inside English, you spin the cueball to the left (cc) by striking it on the right. In your second example at 0:59, your cue ball is to the right of your object ball, which you are cutting to the right along the rail (which is irrelevant). Therefore, to impart inside, you spin the cue ball to the left (cc) by hitting it on the right. I like this way of visualizing it because outside spin throws the object ball further in the direction of the cut angle, and inside spin reduces the angle of the cut.
WOW!!!!!! B. YOU ARE ONE HELL of an intelligent pool player and you have so much creativity. I would have never been even able to imagine the way your getting position. And YES thank you for showing us them Spirit Breaker shots. Can't wait for the next vidoe
I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of your 2000 5 must have shots! Each and every one of them has been very instructional, easy to understand, very helpful, and logical. I'm not a great player and I appreciate your demonstrations of different scenarios I don't even think of. I have managed to get on balls I previously thought were impossible for me to get good position on by utilizing something I never considered until you demonstrated them.
I mentioned it in an earlier video to members only but I’ve had it about three weeks now. I posted a video of me practicing on it the very first day. I really like it. Description is in the video description.
You had an earlier video about using inside english on rail shots, it causes the OB to hug the rail. I've used it often, it's amazing the way you can get an OB to run the rail, even going past the side pocket when the long rail is lined up/straight on both sides of the side pockets. Thanks Bryan for your time and effort helping your viewers become better shooters, it's definitely helped me.
Never thought to use inside English on rail shots. It makes sense because it sort of "flattens" the line towards the pocket, making the room for error bigger
Yes Sir!!! Do use 'em all :) ------- But not always with the result I want ... typically from flaws in my stroke! It's a positive that I know this. Reminding myself to keep the cue ball closer to me (ie - 20 to 45yd lines) or work across the table but in either case, not jacked up. Getting the physical abilities and the "mind's eye" pattern to jive doesn't always come together. :) BUT -- There is more than one way to "skin a cat"!!!! Another great info vid. Be Safe
Will be very helpful to a lot of players games. Learned a couple of new tricks myself on here. An easy help for players on the 3 rail position shots with inside, where the object ball is on the rail. With a carbon fiber cue, you can aim 1/2 in towards the center of the cue ball from the edge of the object ball. Deflection will make the shot for you and much less power is needed to get the cue ball around the table. For high deflection cue sticks, you can aim almost directly at center on the object ball with inside spin. Again, the higher deflection will actually make the shot. specific aiming more than that is rarely needed.
Wow! I love your explanation on how/why inside English can be used towards a player’s advantage, especially in situations where position is key. Thank you so much for your time and dedication Brian. Your instructional videos are truly gems
Alot of the time when I use inside English the speed off the rail slows so much I wouldn't be able to get position what am I doing wrong you think I use mostly center ball top bottom unless I feel comfortable with using English I'm just a student of the game and love it your honest opinion would mean alot and thank you for your time and dedication t teaching
Great video Brian. I’ve been trying to include inside English when ever I can. I’ve had to get from one end of the table to get on the next ball and I amazes my friends when I do it. My problem is using the right speed. I’ll keep practicing these shots because it pays off in competition.
You are an awesome teacher. Do you happen to have a video that breaks down what the different spots on the cue each do ie.. upper right, lower right etc.?
Oh and yes I have been using inside, but it can be a challenge. Some tables, the spin doesn't grab the same way as others, so I'd recommend checking that when going to a new venue.
Love the new table. I couldn't decide between the predator or Rasson but the Rasson sold me with the deeper shelves and 4 week timeframe vs 8 weeks. It's a 9', just under 4 1/2" pockets and deep deep shelves. Got it 2 months ago and went from SL 5 to playing more like an 8 on the barboxes. Didn't know how bad (important) my stroke was until I got this table. Was constantly rattling balls, especially power draws but they go in so easy now how the pool hall. I came up with so many new curse words in the process though
At 4:47 your straight in shot you must be hitting the cue ball with what kind of English. I am thinking about deflection what kind of spin are you putting on the cue ball? If there was no english wouldn’t the cue ball just follow the object ball for a scratch? This question is a must for a answer. I really am learning a lot from you, it’s just sometimes I dream up these questions. your friend steve
Hi Steve I cheat the pocket as much as possible shooting the object ball as far to the left as possible The English brings it back to the center of the pocket and allows me to take the cue ball off the rail. Very good question by the way and thanks for watching
there's also a shot where you have a thin cut on a ball, you use maximum inside english to go off one long rail, and when it hits the other long rail it becomes running english.
@@FXBilliards ahh, cool, looks like Olhausen uses the same narrower rails tops on that model as is on my Belmont. Thank you, thought it looked familiar 👍🏻
7:45 Do you adjust your aim point on the object ball or it is the same one as if you were using center of the cue ball? Also Thanks a million for your videos been helping my game immensely.
So I’ve been practicing some of these shots before even seeing the video. Getting so so at them but I’m struggling getting the action that really moves it like your videos. Med and slow shots I’m fine but when I go harder it’s not generating more spin. Tips on that?
It takes a better and better stroke as you move the balls apart. You also might not be hitting the cue ball as low as you think you are. I see this with many many players. Your cue is coming up just a little (thats all it takes) and you hit the ball too high. This happens more as players start to generate more speed.
If im shooting a ball down the rail, would inside be considered the side closest to the rail? I always looked at it like that and now i wonder if im backwards lol
Inside would be hitting the cue ball on the side which the object ball is going to be traveling. If it’s going to be moving to your left, then left-hand English is inside English.
With left English, the ball is going to be thrown to the right,- so you can say that you were aiming at the left edge of the pocket with left English the right edge of the pocket with right English. As you become more experienced, you don’t think about it that way - you just naturally compensate - but basically that’s what’s happening.
Ball frozen on the long rail and you want to move straight across to the opposite long rail (say for position, to avoid other balls or avoid a scratch), do you ever use inside low english? Probably a little harder than inside high.
Inside low to bring that cue ball back down table to the opposite rail. More like stun to bring it horizontally across the table. One of the most difficult shots in pool until you get it down and then it’ll become your favorite shot. (The draw with inside). Thanks for watching Gary.
Inside draw is a game changer for sure. Would love to see basically the same video but with the draw shot. I’m a 6/7 in APA and inside draw helps so much on a bar box, I’m curious how effective it is on the 9ft.
I hate to say this, I love the new table. But I can honestly say you need a 10 footer because the 9 footer still looks like an 8 footer and the 8 footer look like a bar table. You have to be at least 6 ft 3 in tall. That being said, I love your videos. 😂😂😂
LOL Korby, I think you have become a victim of camera angles. Zoom lens make things look smaller. Ever see a pro match and the table looks almost square? It's because their camera is far away and they zoom in. That drives me nuts because they have the time and money to put the camera in the correct spot with the correct settings. Anyway, I am 6' 1'' maybe 6' 2'' tall. My Fighting weight before the recording of this video 183 lbs. - So maybe "skinny" makes me look taller. Thanks for watching.

Bryan I am a bit confused on the rail shots whith English. I always ise the opposite. If for example the ball is to my left, i hit the que on the left. Iake it almost every time. If I hit cue ball on the right as you call inside English I hardly ever make it. I am better off using no English then. I am confused.
You’re putting outside English on the shot which is sending the ball away from the rail. It’s still makeable, but for different reasons then putting inside English on it if you’re missing it with inside English there is a chance you’re hitting the ball first where you should be making contact with the rail just before the ball.
Hard to describe in the comments but your aim at the pocket as if part of the pocket is being blocked -that’s the best I could come up with. I hope that helps

DEFLECTION BIG FACTOR TOO WHEN SHOOTING THESE SHOTS
