"It's attack stat is really high because it's got 4 arms" - Checks out.
i know I am kinda off topic but do anyone know a good site to stream new tv shows online?
@Robert Harley I dunno lately i have been using Flixportal. Just google for it :) -brentley
@Brentley Matias thanks, I went there and it seems like a nice service =) I really appreciate it!!
@Robert Harley happy to help =)
Kartana's broken-high attack even with paper arms : Pathetic
“Haha, I’m gonna spam double team!”
Machamp: “bruh”
Kudos to the commentators. They made it feel like a real life pokemon match. :D
12:06
Well, not the best HP, but 100 defense and 10 resistances and 1 immunity surely helps Scizor
They all play tactically and stuff. I would just spam my best move 😂
that wouldn't work so well against these expert guys
True man we all do that XD
So would I :D
I would just use moves that have STAB bonus + ability bonus and hidden ability bonus..
Me too. they take pokemon waaaaay too serious
I cant wait til we have hologram pokemon xD
That would be SOOO awesome!!!!
Ummm what? yugioh holograms?
Boy do I have news for you
It never happened
@@AB-ee5tb dynamax maybe
It's hard to believe there's a world tournament of Pokemon, with referees and commentators and crowds of fans watching xD Nintendo and GameFreak just created a sport as opposed to a video game xD
who doesn't like pokemon though?
Lots of People say that about yugioh too xD
***** Well yugioh and pokémon are both awesome games
that is true xD
***** BUT DIGIMON IS THE BEST... no it is not.
37:00 How touching! ;( My parents would NEVER urge me to EVEN PLAY A VIDEO GAME!!! How could I EVER get some support to go and participate in such a competition! I hope you guys enjoy your champion life with your encouraging families! ;)
RacoonGreg omg i hope you're good now!😍
it's crazy how far competitive Pokémon has come. :)
Kakuna rattata...that is the greatest shirt in the universe
Machamp has been my favorite since Red and Blue, so I think it's really awesome to see someone win the championship with a Machamp by their side.
Back when competitive Pokemon was actually balanced, devoid of unnecessary enhancements, such as mega evolutions and dynamaxing.
I liked mega evolution just because of the cool designs
Agree, mega evolutions were pretty cool, then came z moves it was like mmh and at last dynamax was just hell no... fk this.
gen 5 balanced LMAO
@@KingVulpes They made VGC boring, though. Most people went for Mega Mawile and Mega Kangaskhan.
because perma weather wasn't broken at all. LOL
He caught people off guard with 'No Guard'.
Is it me or do I see the players writing down on a piece of paper…
I believe they write down every single turn's action, we do the same in chess.
They write down to remember moves and tactics their opponents use to out predict the opponent
They take notes of the opponent's team too..
Hey, having the name "Red" you should know this stuff! jk jk
their writing their wills and to who their belongings will go to cause they will be virgins all their life's and thus will not have children to pass down their Pokémon skills too lol
I mean, just cause it's a game, doesn't mean the skills they develop don't have real life implications. They're fore thinking, consider action/reaction, and seem patient. I consider this and chess as great games for those reasons.
This is amazing. Who ever created this deserves lots and LOTS of awards! I want to get in there..
EV Training is only overwhelming when you learn about it for the first time. Once you get the hang of it, it's not so bad and can actually be a lot of fun if you're into the more specific details. The thing is that if you don't care about these details, you can still use your fire blast and hope you get lucky, while people who do care about it can EV train. It's a win win situation for both type of gamers. No one loses.
At the beginning, the announcer on the right is Brendan Zheng, and at the end, he is Scott Glaza... did he evolve?
30:07 I was really confused here but I forgot X and Y came out in 2013.
Dude on the right is so awkward hahahaha
It's a pokemon tournament...everyone is awkward lol
That would SUCK if your DS ran out of power...
I think they have their DS consoles attached to chargers on the table.
at the beggning that machamp realy stayed in there
Who is still watching its 2020
Me!
(One of) The best 2v2 strategies ever: Terrakion and a Pokémon with beat up. Uses beat up on Terrakion. Each time it hits, Terrakion's attack goes up with Justified. Terrakion use Rock slide with rock gem. KO.
One move breaks that strategy And that move is follow me
Imagine how cool it would be if someone animated this battle with all the awesomness from a pokemonbattle in anime with the tactictall stuff in a pro battle.
Americans in the finals as opposed to Asians? I'm going to take a nap now...
😐
Omg, that shirt, kakuna rattata, sound familiar :P
I think it's based off hakuna matata
Machamp is my brothers favorite Pokemon he'll be happy to hear this :)
Yeah... I have no idea what's going on... Imma just stick to casual Pokemon
So this actually exists ....
Wish I was this good with doubles.
Great job on all participants.
Imagine what the X and Y matches will be like.
It will truly be a show. The visuals are amazing to say the least.
@@TheAwesomeDarkNinja about that..
@@TheAwesomeDarkNinja Ahh that didn't age well
heh i'm 28 and just started playing the pokemon games started with y
Welcome!
Good luck, hope to see you in VGC
Play emerald and platinum
So it’s been 6 years meaning you should be 34. Are you still enjoying Pokémon?
@@XxLiam26xX ya
I was literally sitting, watching it, rooting for Hayden and getting excited when Pokémon faint. I get excited easily :p
Double Battles are battles where you can unleash your creativity and knowledge. These kind of battles are far more interesting and more possibilities than single rather than knowing what your opponent will do in Single.
"Scizor is still a very frail pokémon" Hm...ok.
powersonic0123 kinda is. show it any fire type move and it just melts. plus not the best special defense.
Cepherneeze 157 80 base SpDef is not bad at all, and the combination steel/bug is one of the best in the game. Just because a pokémon is 4x weak to something doesn't mean it's frail.
That doesn't mean the pokémon is bad at all. Ferrothorn's 4x weak to fire too, and it's not bad. Talonflame is 4x weak to rock and it's not bad (in gen 6, anyway). Landorus is 4x weak to ice and it's not bad. Weavile is 4x weak to fighting and it's not bad. I could literally keep going on like this for hours.
Still, it's supposed to be a weakness. If it didn't have that, the bug/steel combination wouldn't have any weaknesses. So it is still very good typing. And, besides, there are ways to combat this weakness, such as paring it with rain (or, better yet, primordial sea).
Swords dance and trick room 1st turn then bp your way to victory.
Kool. I get a recommended video from 6 years ago lol.
I miss the music here
+ShadowMaster77 Same here. It's so good.
Pokémon like Heatran and Thundurus are still classified as actual legendaries. Pokémon like Mewtwo and Arceus are also classified as legendary, but they just have higher stat totals and are therefore banned.
And I'm sitting here and level my charmeleon on the S.S. Anne
Just got my charizard to help catch Articuno. Older gen games. love it.
wish I could ever had this fun this looks so epic.
originalnex, some people are that big of a fan, I know im not but I think its really cool! I would like to be the champion one day :D congrats haydn mctavish!!!
Congrats to the 2013 world champ for the Pokemon VGC World Championships last year.
I miss this type of meta games with no gimmicks
In fairness, having a bulky prankster Thundurus spam Thunder Wave, Swagger, and Taunt is a bit gimmicky.
@@fujiapple9675 that's not really gimmicky considering it's one of the best mons and it works. but yeah it was still broken and involved tons of hax. I just meant gimmick mechanics btw
Well done Hayden, very much deserved. Using the less common Machamp, out-predicting Ben in both matches in just the right places. Fantastic player.
didn't even know this was a thing
They take notes on what Pokemon and moves their opponent is using so they won't forget. They probably are keeping track of the Trick Room timer as well. Trick Room lasts 5 turns and it is vital to know how many turns are left in order to plan ahead and strategize.
I've been playing bw2 on my phone through an emulator. A week ago I beat the E4... A week later, im still breeding teams like it's the good days. Remember when you could only pass 3 IV's down through breeding and the unforgivable chain breeding for egg moves? Good times I'm suffering through for nostalgic purposes. 4 Perfect IV T-tar 29/31/31/5/31/31.... I'll take it!
Congratulations to Hayden Mctavish from USA for winning lasts years Pokemon World Championships. I really hope I can go head to head with this guy someday.
12:04 Scizor, a fragile Pokemon? Please. It has 100 base defense and only one weakness. It would be one thing if Ben sent out a Chandelure, then Scizor would be toast, but Rhyperior isn't going to do too much to Scizor.
Cresselia is BL2 (not BL) and Thundurus is Uber in SINGLES. Doubles doesn't specifically have tiers for the moment besides a banlist.
I approve...
EV training has always been apart of pokemon games, you just didn't realize it. Held items were introduced in Generation 2. What's changed is how competitive it's become and using new found knowledge to the fullest.
Is that Haydunn?
I.. think so, yeah.
eXinX no not the same voice watch the end.
no
He says haydunn mactavish hmmm
It's possible but I'm not to sure if that's the UA-camr since haydunn apparently doesn't play competitive a lot.
24 year old here, you're never too old to enjoy Pokémon.
People do tend to use the same pokemon a lot. I see tons of Garchomp and Kangaskahn. Even in regular online play. I'm just over here crying with my Aerodactyl xD ....P.S. Aerodactyl is my bæ...
It's because Garchomp and Kangaskahn are OP as balls.
It is a good thing it is like that, others tournaments would be boring.
Also, if you don't want to do tournaments you could still use Fire Blast in the main game and win. It's kinda the best of both worlds that way.
This is just depressing for me lol. These people are so good. I also find it interesting when "jocks" look to make fun of people like these, even though chances are, these people are fantastically smart in actuality, and are very good strategists. For this reason, I hope people like me and people at these championships don't get down when someone says that to them.
Don't worry.
You're probably way smarter than they are.
I found watching these battles more interesting than any baseball game, I'll tell you that much. Watching baseball is like watching grass grow. I think there was actually more movement in the Pokemon battles than there is in your average baseball game.
***** Did I say being a geek/nerd automatically made you smarter?
Did you even read my comment? I said that *chances are* these people are smarter than them. I'm basing that statement off of EVERY SINGLE JOCK I have EVER met. I'm not making that up. 99.9% of any "jocks" I know don't try in school, don't care, are overall not very smart, and are therefore probably dumber than these people. 99.9% of *nerds* I know work hard in school, get good grades, and are pretty smart strategically thanks to gaming.
Based off of what I know, being a nerd/geek generally entails that yes, you are indeed smarter than "those 'jocks'". It is most certainly *not* the other way around.
Wow, I'd just like to point out that this is probably one of the stupidest conversations ever.
JoeyBatz Agreed.
***** I've already stated counter argument's to every point you've made. I'm not going to argue with someone who consistently uses false points to prove their own.
I don't need to prove you wrong, others have already done that for me.
I will allow you to look at the benefits of gaming on your own. Gaming does not "mess with the chemicals in your brain". That is as incorrect as you can get.
Again, I have no reason to argue with someone who only uses baseless points to support their side of the debate.
3 ways: 1. place in the top 4 of the previous PWC to receive an invite. 2. Be ranked in the Top 16 in North America or top 32 in Europe and you will also get an invite. 3. Attend the last chance qualifier at PWC. The top 4 players in each age group will advance to PWC.
Do the announcers get a dollar for every time they say IS or DOES?
Ikr
They are probably writing down the opponent's moves and items so they won't forget. Also, they may be keeping track of Trick Room's timer. Knowing how many turns of Trick Room are left is vital when thinking ahead.
I feel like pokemon isn't balanced enough to have a fair championship. I mean there are just a handful that are stronger than the rest and they just get used over everything else. Not much room for having different teams to other people.
True that. Tbh, I'm a legit Kangaskhan fan. Been catching them and having them as my main pokemon since pokemon fire red...It's been my favorite pokemon ever since I was tiny.
..Now days, So many people have them only for it's mega evolution..ugggh..I'm pretty sure if I play someone online, they'll think the same about me. I refuse to use the evolution now, lol..
From the standpoint of luck yeah. Like flinch hacks and Status effect hacks. But no matter what game in a competitive sense there will always be a handful of things that will be better than the rest. Wether it's FPS, MOBA's, Fighting Games, Sports Games. There is always a best and worst.
magicarp ftw
Pokémon has the least variety despite the extremely increased amount of choices compared to fighting, FPS, and MOBAs.
Tweeaak Tweek Yes and no. You'll never see a format with a ton of diversity. What's good is determined by what's being used at the time. VGC 17 proves that.
@TheAverageJoe It was a typo haha, Brendan Zheng was one of the Junior finalists, and the commentator has always been Scott Glaza :p
I'd say using an action replay is punishible by death :-)
even using it for fun and not using it for competive battles
bombah how about using it to generate a team that is legit in every way (ivs, evs, obtainable moves) to compete competatively? I dont do this, but as long as your gengar isnt using spacial rend I couldnt care less
Runexn
Lol, I know, right? We cannot allow the use of Spacial Rend Gengars.
X-Maverick
"LOL LOOK BLAZIKEN USE HYDROPUMP"
Golurk flew up high!.......Oh yeah.....
Its my first time to know that there's an actual tournament of this game, really weird though for some main reasons-There's the super effective and not effective type-and you can switch pokemons
*FacePalm* Almost all games have things like that even games like fire emblem with the weapon triangle
Hayden goes to my school :)
I know right?? He is President of the Pokemon club there, club starts tomorrow!! I am so excited because I play competitive Pokemon as well!
Can i have proof please?
How's it personal info all I want is his pic with ur UA-cam name written next to it or him saying I know pwnup25
Uhh I can send you a video with me and him in it, then I guess ;-;
But I've never saw you hence why I want your UA-cam name :/
Even though I barely play Pokémon nowadays, I find these battles quite amusing!
*sigh* I miss the days when people actually brought Pokemon they caught instead of just cheating and genning them like they do nowadays
i completely agree i cant play cuz no one plays fair
Do me a favor. go on to the Twitter of almost all the people who participated in vgc 2016 and tell me how many stated themselves they were cheating or gave hints about them cheating
none
How is it not fair if someone gens mons? They've only saved time really. Everyone can get the same mons but not everyone has times to spend hours getting them
JackVGC what's not fair is that while others did the work and put in the time, these guys get to just cheat because they don't have the time. and before you say genning isn't cheating let me ask you something: did they get that Pokemon in game? did they breed or catch or receive the Pokemon through in game procedures? or did they just create it through outside sources?
also, the time excuse isn't valid anymore. I got a competitive keldeo in less than 20 minutes of soft resetting, and breeding usually doesn't take more than two hours, and maybe not even that, since I breed between classes at school.
Think so. I guess it takes more skill to create a team where all the Pokémon can work well in combination. There's only so much you can do one-on-one.
wow there are no kids there at all lol
haha got me there bro
Sajandil raja thats because its senior championship. they already had the junior championship
TheLegitLifeProject he meant in the stands
Cause all the kids that loved Pokémon grew up and continued loving pokemon
I love how the battle music is the gen 2 champion theme good job gen 5
gen 1
Haha this reminds me of just a few days ago when I was battling my friend in math class and I wrecked his whole team of shinies with just a gardevoir and he got so mad so instead of being fair and using same level pokemon to battle me he gets out a lv100 team while all of my pokemon are only lv70and71's. Funny thing.. I still won.
Personally I LOVE giving a nickname to every pokemon I receive and catch. o uo
Sup brotha, its been 6 years and i finally found someone like me
Ugh,Rottom is overused. -.-
Nick London but hes really good.
Jody Byron Yeah, but is still overused.
Who is rotom? All I know is rotom-wash ;)
Well nobody uses rotom this season
Nick London Jajaja
Those were some great battles!
lol they are so cringy when they show the announcers
@★ Froggie Animation ★ are you triggered? c:
@★ Froggie Animation ★ why did you replied then lol
There's still the aspect of using Fire Blast and hoping the 15% miss doesn't happen and possibly the 30% chance of a burn or even a critical hit, so luck isn't all gone.
nerds xD
You post minecraft videos, dillweed. At least this game takes some kind of brain power to play well.
So are you and me for clicking this vis
Vid
+HeroesField At least Pokemon games have story to them. *Shots fired*
+TheAnimatronicGamer welllll....
I had an idea, pokemon finals, one of the finalists have one pokemon from each generation!
I wonder if triple battles are possible? Would it be too hectic?
Would be so awesome to see these in tournaments
Loved these battles. Wish I had been there
Another Pokemon from this video that you've never seen judge is the Cresselia in Ben Hickey's team.
am I the only one around here noticing him saying: "bulkier than hitmontop", who has higher def and spdef stats, along with intimidate and also wide guard? machamp is not that bulky at all, especially compared to hitmontop, the bulkiest fighting type currently (I believe)
I think Scrafty is bulkier
EVs as you know them? Yes.
EVs overally? Existing since G1, though they worked differently and were called Stat Exp. (since yield was based on Pokémon's base stats and capped out at 65535)
Randomly appeared in my subbox, let's just say you made me a happy man pokemon.
I really like Hayden's machamp move set
Just because a Pokémon is legendary doesn't mean it is overpowered. It may have a higher base stat total, but it's still a Pokémon like any other, and non-legendaries like Scizor and Rotom-W still can compete on equal footing with them. The better legendaries (like Arceus and Kyogre) are banned anyway.
I like how they're like "Machamp! How rare!" ...and Machamp was used in Worlds 3 or 4 years ago.
Keldeo is banned because it cannot be obtained in the game through "normal" means like the other swords of justice. You need a special event, like Mystery Gift or a promotional event, to get Keldeo. This is also why Meloetta and Genesect are banned.
When the announcer was awkwardly staring at the camera...
Man... it's really hard to come to these Tournaments. Paying for travel expenses and all that. Sigh...
that machamp put in a ton of work.
8:04 Hayden's reaction
Yes, but back then, there weren't that many comperative players
They have pencils because they're allowed to take notes about their opponent. Could be anything, damage, items, moves, abilities, anything. They take notes because they're going to have multiple matches against them, the more you know, the better.
I'm from ARSHENTINA! it literally killed me lol
Heck yeah buddy, it stopped my heart for like about 10 seconds :v
Oh, stop it, you :B you're gonna make me blush :v
.3. now i know where they used that world champion music, i thought it was fanmade XD
Because he wasnt going for a parylyze burn or freeze. If he would he would have a pokemon with the sole purpose of will o wisp thunder wave, etc
I wonder if you bring your own 3ds
I use ice moves on dragon types...
That's as much strategy I'll ever use in pokemon...
Choosing between Machamp and Conkelder is hard while Conkelder has better Def. Sp.Def and Atk,but Machamp has a significantly better ability which will allows Machamp to do more damage and also be more supportive with the confusion from dynamic punch although Conkelder has drain punch so it's very hard to K.O. Unlike Machamp were a couple of special attacks should be able to get the K.O. on Machamp
Actually Machamp has 80 def 85 Sp. Def Conkeldurr has I think 95 def but only 75 Sp. Def
