I just discovered a Scott's catalogue #3 imperforate penny red on blue paper. It appears to be MNH with 99% intact gum. I was overjoyed. It fell out of an antique desk which I had purchased. Now comes the task of close examination to see if it has been washed or regummed. It has three nice margins with the fourth complete yet close to the printing. Wish me luck. I have my fingers crossed but at the back of my mind is the old saying, "something which seems to be too good to be true usually is not true".

Found your channel last night and been slowly working my way through it.. Loving the excitement of working your way through the charity shop finds but equally love the in depth analysis and explanations you give re the backgrounds of the specific issues. Please keep it up. Would be lovely to eventually have a short video for each stamp issued from GB ..
Personally re the Victorian issues , I think it's a cool challenge to try to complete a sheet of all the corner lettered issues from the same plate.. .just for the sense of satisfaction..

I am 69 years old and now confined to my home (quad bypass) I have taken up my childhood hobby so I really enjoyed your video. Look forward to watching more.. There are many black watermarks. what can i read into these.

acquired a small collection of 2-300 back about 40 years ago of 1d reds. just acquired an old Lincoln album with several with Victorian issues going to 5 shillings

Interestingly, plate 77 is not the rarest 1d red, though it is the most desirable and expensive.
The earlier 1854 stamp with small crown watermark perforated 16 (SG17 or Spec C1) from plate 168 is rarer, with just 7 known examples.
And one of my friends has discovered the last 2 to be found. He found one of them in the collection of a collector who died, never knowing that hidden in his collection was one of the rarest stamps in the world.

Hi, I'm not sure about that stamp, are you sure it's a Penny Red? Plate numbers start at 71 not 20 and four G's seems odd as well. I'm sorry I can't be of anymore help, take it to your local stamp dealer to see what they think.
