And he isnt even serously trying to take of. He ist far from the edge and it would have to be VERY windy to take of with that unsteep ground. Seems Like he ist checking the conditions and has fun groundhandling.

There's no 'battling' at all in this video; quite the opposite. He's a skilled pilot doing a very good job of controlling his wing.

Ground handling is how we practice launching and handling the wing.
That guy knows his glider
He is just practicing mate :)
