WOW, you've just clarified a very important and common word in English in 2 minutes with your husband and probably at home. I love this SIMPLICITY AND SPONTANEOUSNESS. on behalf of all English learners around the globe I say THANK YOU MA'AM.
I was wondering about this after watching a few youtube videos with English people. Glad to know it's just a weird cultural thing and not something I missed in school lol. I have never heard "a is different to b" in the U.S.
Thank you jay and vicki Can you explain the differences between "will" and "would" in next lessons, I guess it's so important and in general the usages of would in english
Jay: It's a different temperature than how it was out yesterday. It's 9º. Vicky grabs her light sweater, goes outside, shocked how cold it is, realizes Jay said it's different "from" yesterday and it's cold
Yes! I'm American, and it annoys me when people say "different than". It drives me nuts to hear "different to"! I do NOT like to hear grammar experts claim that those latter two are correct.
Mam plz make video on otherwise by using in the end of sentences. I know one use of it like, John attend your classes otherwise you will fail. But don't know how to use it in the end of sentences and its meaning too. Plz clarify
Thanks for the video! Brazilians: Lancei aula nova do Inglês em 1 min. Para quem se interessar, são vídeos usando música, memes, cenas, explicando algo de inglês. Quando uma aula bate a meta, lanço a próxima. Aproveitem as playlists organizadas por tópicos também. Abraço!
Ha! We also discovered that if we turn them upside down they can become bushy eyebrows, Ra'ed. Maybe we'll find a use for a bushy eyebrow video one day. :-)
We often make verbs into nouns by adding -ing. For example: What's he doing? He's swimming. (Swimming is a verb there) Swimming is a great sport. (Swimming is a noun there) But not all verbs can be made into nouns in this way. Does that help?
moperson1, this is Jay writing back to you. That was my first impression as well. But I'm used to it now when I hear British English speakers use the phrase.
Fun, aren't they. We discovered we can turn them upside down and they become eyebrows. We just need to think of a video where we need thick eyebrows. :-)

Can you explain the differences between "will" and "would" in next lessons, I guess it's so important and in general the usages of would in english
That's a great question Haider. I was thinking we should do something on conditionals this year and this could fit in with that.

Hi there, Claudio. Happy New Year to you too!
Great video
Thanks Wallacy!
Oooh thank you so much ❤❤❤
You're very welcome Jomaan.
‘Different [from]’ also has grammatical and style reasoning behind it-into which “feels” don’t enter.
We appreciate your observation on this, Carlatteniese2. - Jay

I know one use of it like,
John attend your classes otherwise you will fail.
But don't know how to use it in the end of sentences and its meaning too.

Hi Mamoon. It would be less common, but you could also say that sentence this way: Attend your classes John. You'll fail otherwise.
American accent is different from British accent. (AE&BE)
Chinese food is different to Japanese food. (BE)
IELTS is different than TOEFL. (AE)
Great job, Mollie.
thanks
You're very welcome Ebrahim.
What should I choose in an exam if it has different from and different than. We follow British English
I'd go with from GRace. You can't go wrong with that.

@@SimpleEnglishVideos thanks for your videos, my students and I love them! You two are just sweet.
You both seem to be turning into a funny Mexican couple with those hilarious mustaches. 😂😂😂

Hhhhh, I can't wait to see another video like that. 😂😂😂
Wow
:-)
why some words with ing are names and some another are without ing are names ?

You two look funny with the mustaches
They suit us, don't they. :-) Thanks John.
🌹🌹🌹
Thank you!
It’s so odd to hear different to--
moperson1, this is Jay writing back to you. That was my first impression as well. But I'm used to it now when I hear British English speakers use the phrase.
Different _of_ isn't possible?
Hi iHax YT. Yes 'of' isn't possible.
OK, thanks. It's just that in Portuguese, we use the word _de_ , which translates to _of_ . I've been saying it wrong all along. 😂
Nice moustaches!
Fun, aren't they. We discovered we can turn them upside down and they become eyebrows. We just need to think of a video where we need thick eyebrows. :-)
That's hilarious! Can't wait to see you both with those 'eyemoustaches'
haha It's very interesting.
Thanks Nick. :-)
Isn't it important to explain that "different than" technically doesn't make sense?
In my opinion, yes, that is important.
"Different to", as well
First 👍
Ha! We love the first responders, Atila! :-)
You're welcome !...
