That was so fun! Recent lichen enjoyer and there are so many cool lichens out there in the world! I am in Yukon Canada near Coastal Alaska and the amount of neat lichens is impressive. I have never seen those orange lichens on the coast before! So cool.
Lichen are quite fascinating. I live in North Africa I have lichens growing on stones, walls trunks of live n dead trees, now though they thrive in the rainy season it's amazing how they can tolerate the very hot long summers n yet you find them growing happily again in the winter months. I read lichens are very slow growing, so do they become dormant in the summer or completely die?
I sometimes use iNaturalist to document lichens. (iNat is a project of California Academy of Sciences and National Geographic.) Handheld magnifier / loupe can get you closer view / photo.

This is my entering in this unbelievable world. I wish the camera would have staid still to give me time to have a better look at that busy image. Traveling in the city on big elements is fine but traveling into that so so small items is not the best.
I have a little bunch of Usnea that was blown out of a maple tree in my yard. I'd like to keep it like an air plant indoors. Would that work for it? Should I treat it like a tillisandia and give it an occasional soak or misting? Would a small amount of orchid fertilizer be good for it?
I dont want to point fingers but I think my pet snail loves _some_ lichens. Sticks seem polished after a few days. So I guess I can't have a snail AND lichens. At least not in the same cage.
Wow everyone's presenting was top notch
'Sticky-outy bits' - love it! And what an enthusiastic bunch of lichenologists ☺
Well done! I greatly appreciate your demonstration on what lichens are. Much obliged!
Absolutely delightful and perfectly presented❤

Needless to say that lichen has an essential role for our ecosystem, I even haven't noticed they also present in urban area so far.
Absolutely charming!

Excelente para o chá para infecção urinária e limpar o muco dos pulmões
Can’t they also include bacteria?
May or may not include Cyanobacteria.
I don't wanna see lichen everywhere. Feel anxiety tho.
I like lichens, but this level of lichen geekery is a sure way to remain single.
If anybody from iso sees this I’m naeema
